- Join me and my husband on a stroll through the Tuscan countryside! We walk from the hilltop village of Montepulciano to the other hilltop village of Monticchiello. Along the way I practice my Italian, my husband finds some fresh chestnuts, and we get a fright from some rustling in the bushes. When we arrive in Monticchiello it's nearing night -- and that's when the real magic of Tuscan villages emerges. Enjoy!!

Well, I just found out my very first girlfriend lives in Montepulciano and after wandering around Google Maps street view I really looked forward to your "caminata in campagna" for a solidly vicarious feel. I especially miss the castagne Aladino was picking that usually are sold roasting on coal braziers.

Did you see the famous serpentines near Montichiello? Did you discover the old wine storage halls beneath Palazzo Ricci already?
The nicest town in Val d‘Orcia was for us San Quirico d‘Orcia, closely followed by Bagno Vignoni
The movie Shadows in the Sun was shot in Rocca d‘Orcia and Bagno Vignoni (the hot spring scene)
