I’m excited for AOA. I still have a lot of the original stuff. I’m sure they will bring out historical units later. I’d like to see American civil war or world war 1 units.
Back again, and really excited to see where this goes. As an old fan, I'm not upset that they aren't working on newer units or more historical units, untill they get AoA complete. I just hope it happens sooner rather than later. And to say, another banger video.
Also, I have to ask, as an old school fan, do you think the rule of using an extra move point to go up one tile stupid? If so, would you add a half tile to reduce the need to expend that move point? Also, would be nice to see stairs instead of just ladders.
So much wrong here I don't even know where to start... 1. By far, the main potential consumers of this will be fans of the original. They are the demographic that knows the game, has been waiting for more for years and will be buying the stuff by default as a result if things work out. Also, they are of the established age that will be able to afford it. Going "casual" whatever that means, sounds like a step in the wrong direction, signaling that the product will be "dumbed down" which will not be as attractive to the established fan base. 2. No painted minis = no buy for a significant % of potential buyers from that established fan base. Painting minis for most is too time-consuming and adds cost to what will already be an inflated cost up front. The other option is to use grey, unpainted minis among the old painted sets, which will be a jarring eye soar. Also take note: a common excuse from Hasbro (one of the most hated companies out there based on what they did to Magic and their ruthless, unashamed greed shown over the D&D debacle) is that painting minis would add too much cost that they don't want to pass on to the consumer- that's bullshit. It translates into: we can convince people we are taking the more responsible path when really, we can profit far more by not painting the minis. Ever look at the average toy shelves? How are all these other companies able to produce painted toys and still stay within reasonable cost? This is potentially a grift that could be taken up by Renegade, so be aware. 3. The minis themselves are overly detailed- YES OVERLY detailed. Another example of not fitting into the more simple (and easier to discen visually) original sets. This over-detail will also significantly increase the difficulty of painting. The original minis were perfect, easy to visually discern from a far due to their lack of overdone detail. 4:59 for example- what am I even looking at with most of those minis? If you lined up the original minis there is no mistaking what they are by comparison to that mess on screen. Then, against all logic, the actual structures (ruins/walls) in which they could get away with some added detail due to their size and obviousness of what they are, look plain and smooth. I have zero confidence they will get this right.
Yeah, totally agree with meeting the designers who gives a crap. It’s like the video game world. We got all these previews and behind the scenes videos, and the game ends up being horrible

As someone who is into paintining miniatures, it's kind of funny to me that "the minis aren't painted" is seen as a downside, especially considering how sloppy Heroscape, Mageknight, Heroclix etc paint can be. Obviously painted is better for accessibility & out-of-the-box, impulse purchase play, but for me it means I waste less acetone.
Haven't played any of them unfortunately. I know they've taken the helm of World of Darkness, and some Werewolf the Apocalypse stans aren't happy with it. But we'll see!
I just got done playing with my childhood heroscape sets with my girlfriend, super surprised and excited to hear that they will be maming it again. Hopefully they can match the quality of the original
This is very exciting but man if they do not at least do the meh-bad paint jobs the originals had I don’t know if I will want to buy the game. The bright red and green plastic miniatures will just not fit with the old stuff.

Question: How good is Renegade Game Studios at making games? I don't think I have ever played any of their games.

They are in charge of axis and Allies now. I bought 14 and the quality is just as good as the original.
