I had just picked up the first master set off eBay a few days ago and was wondering what to grab next. This couldn’t have come at a better time. Awesome content man keep it up 👍🏽
I feel so grateful my mom bought me every set growing up. I have every figure up to D&D starter set. Have 3 castle sets and two of the OG starter set. Painted all my duplicates figures with unique colors for when I’m playing with brothers and friends. I’m talking pool table sized maps with massive castles and home made trees from Hobby lobby. Such a fun game, will be playing it until I’m in a nursing home lol. Also been making corn fields and pumpkin patches from Hobby Lobby as well to prepare for the Halloween season.
Growing up me and my brother only had small expansion packs and my 2 cousins had swarm of the morrow and Rise of Valkyrie so when we played them we didn’t draft and it was 2v2 and they always beat us, until mom surprised us with the marvel set.. I know most people think of the marvel set as unfair and corny, but when they showed up to our house and we pulled out Thanos, Iron man, Dr Doom, etc.. we finally got our first win & ever since that day we drafted pieces instead of using our own. People hate on the marvel pack but it’ll always have a a place in my heart lol

I am so glad I kept everything from my childhood because it would be crazy expensive to rebuy everything now. Heroscape used to be an every other weekend family game night growing up. Either my dad or myself would purchase every set and expansion on release. I know I have everything up until wotc started using the d&d minis which is when I quit buying.
That seems to be when most people stopped. You’re lucky though that you guys kept everything! While I think I’ve surpassed my original collection, it’s been an expensive ride to do so
Glad to see I already picked up the core terrain sets when I was a kid. Trying to expand the collection now for when I have kids of my own. Maybe this sounds a bit unconventional, but I honestly preferred to just play the game solo and imagine different scenarios playing out. Strangely, it worked.
I have the whole thing. Master Woo. Agent Skahen. Four copies of the Underdark. At least three sets of all the common units. Had an incomplete collection. Started collecting toward completion just after it went out of print. It was just sort of a thing.
The correct buy order for heroscape is 3d resin printer then resin. Someone on heroscapers has uploaded all the stl files with high quality scans so just print and paint.
Dude this is absolutely hilarious! Such a great video. I probably have at least $6000 of Heroscape figures/terrain that I’ve only spend maybe $2000 on. A good note to new comers: EBay is your friend and so are 3D printers :)

Yes. My friends have a mild interest in it, we play occasionally, but I have to supply everything. Heroscapers has a section to find fellow enthusiasts in your area and events and stuff, though there aren’t really that many where I’m at.
i just learned they are bringing heroscape back, i got all the sets and tons of units looking forward to game night on sunday! hope that new master set is good!!! dont ruin it renigade, you allready have an audiance prebaked in the game. easiest success ever!!!!

I found a tone of heroscape stuff cheap as hell on eBay during the pandemic, mostly through auctions where I was the only one bidding. Bought a master set for $40 and castle set for $20.
Great video, outlines some of the expansions you didn't cover in your other video, and gotta say, I feel really sad I got rid of all my sets now. I had the castle, Swamp, 2 1st edition master set one, 2 lava wastelands, two winter tundras, skele dragon and crew, and some minor lesser character sets. I had it banked on this looking back
Save most of my hair escape stuff organized at all in the bags in the different Tupperware’s when I was a kid I knew that one day this game is gonna be worth a lot of money also cap on my repeat sets in the box for future sale or trade
I find it funny that I find this video, completely forget about it, and then when my tax returns come, I happen to buy 4 of the 5 top recommendations to start with because I already had the castle set so I could use it with the Magic version of the game Arena of the Planeswalkers. All that's left now is the subjective step 6 of picking sets that I like

I didn't care about the pieces those squads came with like the werewolves and what other squad. I just wanted the soldiers. I also wanted to get as many huge sized dragons so I got the first master set, the orm expansion, and the 2 dragons from the braxas expansion. So now I have 4 dragons. I was a little disappointed to learn the skeleton dragon from the orm expansion counted as a marro and not a dragon

i managed to get a rise of the valkyrie that also came with Roads of the forgotten,bundled togather for about $350(after shipping)....it was expensive but getting two sets,one of which ive always wanted but never had was worth it...definately sprining for the castle set next.... and then the lava set (mostly the land i want).
Nice work. I was wondering when your next video was going to post. While I am not interested in Hero Scape I do like learning stuff about old games. I remember seeing this on the shelves and now I wish I had picked it up when it was retail even if I would not play it. The figures and terrain could be repurposed. Thanks for making content!

We can hear when you are excited to talk about something. So even if take suggestions from us. Make sure that you want to talk about it or else we will know you were like "Meh". My players know when I am really enjoying running a game and when I am running a game just to make them happy. Talk about new RPGs coming out, talk about your favorite RPGs (I know you like Masks so what about a deeper delve?). Talk about pros and cons of various system and then delve into each pro and con and expand on it. Talk about board games, TTRPG and things like that. I just picked up the old Chain Mail miniature battle game. You seem to like old games so what about that? What about some old board games? Broadsides and Boarding Parties, Shogun, etc... Good luck and if you ever need an honest opinion I am here.

I think I can actually get on board with Castle set being a good one to get after first master set, although I would still argue that the swarm of marro is a better second expansion set even if you are dishing out probably twice the amount of bank; you get the cool campaign scenarios, access to common figures, some decently competitive figures (Q10, TorKulNa + nagrubs combo, stingers) and lots more land tiles. The castle set (when used in a sort of scenario where one person sits on the castle, defending, while the other person attempts to invade and remove the defenders) "changes the dynamic" so much that it is horribly imbalanced and often leads to frustration due to how tough it is just to break through the door. Get the violins ready when you then need to climb ladders and actually kill enemy units. But, when considering competitive Heroscape maps, the castle set can be used in many fantastic ways - by not actually building a functioning castle with it, lol. The grey hex tiles can just be used as normal road tiles for boosted movement instead of placing those tiles on top of the castle walls, and the castle walls can plainly exist as line of sight blockers (leave the top of the walls/pillars empty so that it is illegal to move units onto them.) The battlement pieces are also useful in mapmaking to encourage traffic to go in specific directions, because they otherwise need to spend the additional ~3 movement to clamber over the battlements. Battlements also tend to look aesthetically pleasing, in my opinion. It's fun to play casual games with mostly flying units (or outlaw flying/leaping/height-ignoring movement mechanics entirely) and do a large free for all battle with a castle in the middle. I’m not much of a competitive player myself (yet, I’d like to get into it this year perhaps), so I’ll take your word on the competitive advantages of the castle set. For my casual games I like to build a tower or wall in/near the middle of the map to be used as a sort of objective for players to go for. Much like you said about the battlements, I find it’s a good way to build lanes in a map and create joke points and what not. Definitely looking to pick up swarm of the Marro soonish when I get the cash though! Thanks for your comment!
I used to play heroscape on Tabletop simulator,since then I always wanted to grab a physical copy but I never did because they were so expensive. This morning I saw your video,did some research,and for Approximately 30$ I bought the first masterset without 2 miniatures and the rulebook,which is a shame,but still I think it's a great deal to start off

It’s such a horrible experience considering the current prices for used pieces. Unless you already owned these as a child and had your parents stored them while you were in college/career, there is zero practical reason to buy over priced terrain pieces when you can just 3D print them. You would think some Chinese company would make bootlegs and make a killing, but nope! Have to resort to 3D printing for any practical collection.
Hundred percent. I didn't really know about the 3d printing option, but now when I want new figures I just reach out to a local 3d printer to have it done. The only reason to have the OG's is to say you have the OG's.
Orm's Return is Probably the Last Set anyone should get. It might be the Worst Set ever made. Brunak is Meh, Dund is Awful, DW8K is super overpriced, Su Bak Na is even bad in most Marro armies, and Charos is OK but pretty boring. If you want a Large Hero Set Raknar's Vision is infinitely better, even if some of the figures might be a little too strong for a new collection. If Budget is the reason for Orm's then take the $40 and but it towards actually fun/well designed figures like Krug, Cyprien, etc

Orm's return I consider a staple.

I got so manny stuff that is a horror to sort that all. I try it all to years maybe this year ultimately if i find all the stuff.
