So, what is better than playing one of the new Roland Boutique synths? Playing ALL three of them at the same time of course! Seriously, I have not had this much fun in ages.
I set up three independent patches, JX-03 with a slow attack fifth pad, the JU-06 with a slow PWM lead .. and finally the JP-08 with a complex sequence pattern.
I am adding a fair amount of delay and reverb on this patch, using two MS70s.
Well, not much else other to say than... play it loud and enjoy! :)
A few years later, but this is still such a great piece!
Yup very cool, blade runner type vibe! The 80's are back...but this time they are affordable!

"As ever "? No. Good? To some yes, to others like me who have Junos, they don't sound the same, so good is debatable. I would be more inclined to choose the Korg Minilogue if I were buying right now. Those mini interfaces are just ridiculous.
+Patrick Gideon i have never been able to afford any of the original synths as i am from a really poor country and i was too young to even either consider asking my parents to pay astronomical amounts of money for the original synth. as being in love with the synth sounds of the 80's this boutique release from roland made me happier than a kid receiving his favorite candy. i have the Juno and even if i know it doesn't has the original's "balls" it does a pretty good job. i must recognize that the jp8 is the most "digitalist" from them all i really think they should have put more attention to it and i really need that "tone" button system 1 has that would have been a great addition. cheers.
+Patrick Gideon Well ive beem fortunate to have had many jupiters pass into my possession JP6 and 8 and i have to tell you with quality preamps and outboard i can get the same results, might take a bit more effot with the small format but believe me all the sounds are in there, how ? i don't have a clue but the mojo is 100% there, and i have never said that about digital gear before..

Very cool. Love these things. Totally hated on them until I got to play them. Got the JU-08 the same day and have been enjoying it ever since. Great video showing-off what these little guys can do.

ACB is leaps beyond traditional CPU based Vst or Au plugins.
Read about FPGA chips. These are incredibly advanced synths.
There are VST/AU versions. Not surprisingly, they use a massive amount of CPU.
This is fantastic. I'd like to see a few Roland Boutique haters stop by and see what these synths are capable of doing. Well done!

That is one of the best demos I have heard for years, massive kudos and respect. That could have been a lost track from Bladerunner, and coming from me that it a major compliment.

i have an original JX-3P with the PG-200 in storage in LA because i'm afraid to fly around with it. problem solved! these sound killer! Roland nailed it. and no laptop needed. add a nice delay and verb, and MIDI keyboard, done deal. love it! nice playing too!

I have a CS80 and a JX 3p and a slew of other analog bits, and I am getting 2 of the JX03 from this series...
A CS80 is a performance synth... if you play, its simply amazing... its not always about the sound... sometimes its the responsivenes and immediacy... the CS is a complete universe
+slammah2012 I've had a CS 60 for 35 years - was my first synth before the Junos and Jups came out, but I've always loved that Juno/Jup sound from that day to this :)
+D r Jezz I am interested to hear the Portamento feature that the JX 03 now has on these units.... no one is demoing the new features that the JX 3p didn't have...
Great job man, some nice sounds going on there. I can't understand why some people are rubbishing these units they are fantastic! I'm going to grab a Jp-08 myself as I have a real jx-3p and a Juno 06 already. Again great video and love the light show!

Every video tells about what the boutiques can do instead of just using them to make music. It got so bad i was already convinced people did not actually use the to make music. This is truly the first video that proves how great they actually are. Thank you so much for sharing!

+BluffMunkey It's funny you say that. I had a play with them as well and walked away feeling very underwhelmed. I guess my desire to own the 'real thing' trumps these things. The throw on the faders being so small really annoyed me and the way patch memory was set up was absolutely bonkers for a new machine. I understand the desire to stay true to the originals, but they could have thrown in a better way to load patches.

JX-03 isn’t quite as good as the JX-3P but it’s 90% there.

totally incredible sound. i bought the jx03 & jp08 to go with the rest of my analogue synths but haven't had a chance to use any of them. when the studio is up and running again these these two units will defo be used. best demo around. keep the ambience going

Oh it's not that expensive if you just grab the kit one piece at a time.
I've been picking up gear since the 80's, lost track of how much $$$ I've spent, but it's worth every penny :-)

Don't kid yourself. Burg picked up those 4 pieces of gear (Nord Lead A1, Roland JP-08, JU-06, and JX-03) within a two week timespan. Buying one piece of gear is theoretically possible, but never witnessed!
@@mgregory22 Well, the three Boutiques would only be just over $1000 at once... The Nord Lead is a couple of K, so it would be roughly in the 3K range, give or take...
just get the boutiques one by one, not expensive at all in musical gear standards. and a solid keyboard for triggering them, no need to spend big money on a nord (well it is exquisite but ok you can get the job done cheaper)
