You can't expect people to watch something and not give some form of criticism on it. That's not a valid argument. If you watch it, you have a right to criticize it. You can't stop people from voicing their opinions, even of you disagree or can't handle acting mature and you start harassing them.

I agree, Fairy Tail does have a way of making you feel part of the family there. And the character interactions are great as well, it's pretty bad still but I love it.
Fairy Tail was my childhood. Almost everyone has animes that were their childhood and no matter how bad they really are you'll always love your first animes.

I mean, you can't call it lazy writing because a lazy writer wouldn't have bothered to include the breaking bones thing in the first place. That was on purpose to showcase how much she overcame. They're using magic after all so expect a bunch of MAGICAL powerups
@@MrSuperman957 well yeah, the whole point of battle shounen is that the protagonist eventually wins, but the important bit is HOW they use their resources creatively to overcome said situation or obstacle. In Fairy Tail's case, it's one asspull after another. If people genuinely think that fairy tail is well handled in terms of character progression or writing, i think it's very safe to assume that they have't really seen many anime. Look at One Piece for instance. What would be the state of Oda's life's work if, in the final battle against Rob Lucci, Luffy out of nowhere, with all his damage and fatigue, unlocked gear 4? Because he thought about his nakama? One Piece would be a joke in the anime world if that had happened even once. It would be what fairy tail is. Fairy tail is what one piece /dbz/hxh thankfully isn't.

And no, Shounens are almost never about using resources. That's why most Shounen MC are portrayed as Powerful idiots

I’ll always have a soft spot for Fairy Tail. It got me through a very ruff time, my first year of middle school. I felt very empty, and fairy tail helped me through that.
It got me through my first year at work, when I first started working after graduating university
I don't think people understand that the true purpose of the anime is: It's to help people who are alone, making them feel like they're part of an actual family, teaching them just how important friendship is. Well atleast that's how I see it.

Fairy Tail and Sword Art Online were the first anime I ever watched and got obsessed with. They’re very near and dear to my heart, even though they’re imperfect.
I like fairy tail. It's close to my heart and the anime that made me say, "I fricking love anime." I know it's not the best anime, but it's very close to my heart.

No matter what people say Fairy tail was truly an inspiring piece of art that got me through a rough time.
I love Fairy Tail, but I see where you’re coming from. The main thing that I hate about Fairy Tail is the plot armour. I do love the characters, but they’re too OP. It’s just a fun thing to watch when I’m bored, and because it’s so long I have a lot to watch in my free time. So, yeah, I agree with you 100%. It also breaks my heart when the younger anime fans don’t like the older anime just because of the older art style and feel. I am 14, so I did grow up with older anime thanks to my older sister and older brother, and that stuff is amazing.
You make good points and I agree with you. Still, Fairy Tail was the first manga I really got into (reading it all the way until the end) and it's so much nostalgia. Who can fight that, really?

I love fairy tail so much because the connections that the characters had with each other actually felt genuine in an anime for once. I cannot count how many times I’ve dropped an anime because the characters’ relationships weren’t developed properly. And I also really liked the fact that it took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I’ve never really liked when animes were all serious or all comedy or all sad. I like the variety in the emotional experience. I’ve had to pause fairy tail so I could finish crying and that stood out to me how much fairy tail can affect me. I felt moved by fairy tail. I do find it really repetitive and the friendship power theme is annoying and cringey but fairy tail is worth it for me. I will be buying the dvds.
Can we just stop comparing anime shows and live life peacefully?

Honestly there is no way for me to hate Fairy Tail. I understand the flaws it has but I don't care. It always puts a smile on my face when I see these characters interact and do their thing. I also enjoy the action and music a lot. It always gets me pumped. And I also have a deep respect for the strong familial bond that these characters have for each other, which actually inspired me to write my own story with my own characters.

True true. And besides there is still the Mavis and Zeref story. That’s one of the best written part of Fairy Tail I’ve seen to date. And it makes one of the most unique and intriguing love story I’ve ever seen. (And trust me I’ve seen A LOT of romance)

Like most of these users, Fairy tail was the anime that shook me as a 12 yr old when Animax was available. I still remember stopping at that channel when Natsu was fighting in the lullaby arc. The theme song still gives me chills and there is this feeling that I'll never be able to shake off when i watch it and listen to the bomb ass music. Granted there are MUCH MUCHHH better shounen animes and other animes and FT just can't be pitched against them, I know it'll lose. But none of them make me emote as FT did.
It is unforgettable till the latest anime season (if only the end could've been different, that's all I resent). And ik the manga is taking weird ass turns so yeah..but as far as the ANIME is concerned, boi it is nowhere near trash. Nope.
Character development. Appealing backstories. Amazing ass Grand Magic Games arc. Great character design (YES I SAID IT). OPS and EDs are BANGERS 90%. And it taught me so much. It legitimately NOURISHED me and i can't thank the world enough to have given it so many seasons. It's not a masterpiece. It's not top tier. But buddy even though you're entitled to your opinion and all, calling it trash and dissing it this mercilessly honestly ticked me off. Chill out.

Yeah animax is what started anime for me. I love fairytail and the guild, adventures are exciting as a kid.
Being the first anime I've ever watched, I have a personal bias towards Fairy Tail because it introduced me to the anime community (so very thankful).❤❤❤ I can understand some of the criticism that Fairy Tail receives such as the "nothing can defeat friendship" etc. But I'm glad a few still like Fairy Tail. The difference between Fairy Tail and most other anime is Fairy Tail makes you feel part of the guild and part of the show when you watch it. It teaches us that we can all be unique and ourselves and we will always be accepted. A lot of people hate on the fight scenes but I believe they just don't understand them in general. For example it is clearly said in the anime that magic has a direct connection with feeling and emotions. In the final ARC to me it made sense that Erza beat her mother. Sure its crazy that all her bones were broken but it was Erza's sharpest sword and Wendy enchanted it to cut through a dragon. On top of all that, Erza's mother no longer wanted to kill her once she saw Erza smile and had flash backs from the past. I believe most people that hate on the show exclude important details in the first place like Anime Man did. At the end of the day everyone will have their own opinion but just remember unlike most anime Fair Tail's goal was never to be the strongest it was about building relationships with those around them and always being yourself.
Personally I think Fairy Tail isn't about the _battle_ but the _friendship_

That said, I enjoy Fairy Tail, not because it's _good_ but it's *entertaining*
its just its so bad at handling its cliches if you want a villian to become a good guy fine but a least give your villians a valid reason for doing so like in JoJos part 4. and if you want to always have your mc win at least give them the proper tools to do so vs a strong enemy so it doesn't seem like an ass pull again look at how jojos part 4 does it.

He has his opinions which he stated which is fine, but the anime community gets in huge heated debates whether something is bad or not and its just dumb, its their opinion. Fairy Tail was the first anime I saw.. And even after watching so many anime by this time.. It is still one of my favourites 😊 I know many people hate it.. But I will always love this anime.. Diff people diff opinions 😁❤️
I am I teen, so I could be put in the younger anime watchers group, but personally I love the old arts tykes as well as new art styles. I find it really interesting to see how the art has changed over time. I like the older art styles as well since it just has a different vibe to it that I like :)
I recommend 'bad' anime like SAO to people who just started watching anime, because that's the only time they can enjoy it unironically. The good shows can come later, because you'll ALWAYS enjoy a great anime, but you can only enjoy a mediocre-bad anime at the very beginning.
Wormy I have a friend who enjoys bottom of the bin trash like Eromanga sensei but hates Fate Zero because “they talk too much”. I keep telling him what’s the point of having an action scene or gratuitous fan service(not that I’m against it as long as it serves a purpose) without understanding the reason for the conflict.

SAO as a whole isnt bad, only the 2nd arc. With what the author is doing they should basically re-do the anime also of Aincrad. The author is supposed to be re-writting it and making it better and going in more depth to what happened in the tower. THAT is what everyone wants to see. The first part was fun to watch, and the biggest complaint is that they didnt go in more depth to the tower and basically went from like floor 1 to 30s, to 40s, to done.

While I somewhat agree that Hiro Mashima is relatively limited in his artwork of female characters, Oda isn't much better when it comes to 'attractive' women in one piece, recycling a lot of models in the later seasons. Moreover, the point of fairy tail isn't a singular character's goal but instead the guild as a whole and the idea of family, so 'random power ups' make sense thematically as they are protecting those dearest to them. Furthermore, the criticism regarding makarov's many deaths and resurrection is baseless when looking at media in general. Firstly it creates suspense and drive for the characters, giving them a reason to fight while not permanently removing an important member of the cast. Secondly it's a very common trope being used by DC comics in Batman, Superman, Flash, ect, Marvel with the avengers, fantastic four and more, along with anime such as dragon ball with krillin. In addition, I would argue that a lot of those CZcamsrs that stopped talking about fairy tail 'because it's trash', in fact stopped because people like Joey were so toxic with their hatred that it was easier to just keep quiet. That is not to say that fairy tail is perfect or that some of it's criticism isn't warranted, but when your main problems with the show boil down to things that make sense thematically and aspects present in countless beloved IPs it comes across as petty.

I watched Fairy Tail for the very first time this year, I bingewatched it like I rarely bingewatched any anime series before.
I don't get why it is getting so much hate, I absolutely loved it, I think the characters are appealing, the world they live has a déjà-vu feel but it's still interesting to me. I don't know.
I feel like the number one critique it gets is "it's just a bunch of power-ups, friendship always wins and there is no second reading". So what ? I know I'm usually the kind of anime watcher that likes to put his brain aside and just enjoys watching anything as long as it is entertaining, but that did not stop me from absolutely loving anime series like Oregairu, Psycho-Pass or Iron-Blooded Orphans.
So what if Fairy Tail doesn't make you think ? What if they main characters feel so overpowered ? I enjoyed every arc of it and I don't feel like it has anything to envy to other big shonen series.

For me personally is that I can't stand low effort shit like fairy tail, at some point in the series, the plot just screams "fuck sakes just look at the pretty girls and stop caring about it", like literally Mashima understands that what he's writing is garbage but he doesn't care and keeps doing it because he knows his audience are a bunch of ugly nerds that would like to have hot girls around them in adventures like Natsu.
It was one of my first anime! Sure there are cliches and stuff but the story is just so fun and creative. I went through a phase of loving it when I was younger since I never watched much anime before so wasn’t used to any of the cliche tropes. Then didn’t watch it for years and decided it wasn’t that good after all. But I’m rewatching it now and honestly, I forgot how good it actually was. Like the music hit me right in the nostalgia, the characters are fun and unique, the humor is well timed and it’s clear the writer had a lot of fun creating the storyline. And suddenly it’s shot up to one of my favourites again!
I’ve liked a lot more anime since I first watched Fairy Tail and there’s lots of good ones. But they’re all really alike, really serious or really comedic depending on genre. Which isn’t a bad thing! Just, Fairy Tail has a really nice balance. It’s never overly serious and the characters have depth and life to them that makes me smile, it’s really good worldbuilding like you can really feel the love the creator has for the characters. And the focus is on the characters, and the friendship relationships... It’s nice to see. And it has good pacing too. Honestly I forgot how good this anime was until I started rewatching it!

I started watching fairy tail not so long ago and it made me feel for the characters and the story that makes me tear up and sort of cry for a bit in scene. No other anime made me think this way except fairy tail. Not the sad stories in MHA not the sad stories in black clover or any other. Don't care what anyone says about it. I have a soft spot for Fairy Tail and will always watch anything new that comes in relation to it. Whether it's a 12 episode season or just 100+ episodes of anime together, even ovas, I'll always watch it because it was basically my first anime. I still have a fairy tail symbol as my PC wallpaper and I'm not planning on changing it. It has good memories and that's that.

A Silent Voice is meant to be sad and dramatic, a beautiful heartwarming tail of bullying, suicide, depression.

I absolutely love Fairytail. Its the anime that introduced me to fandom and got me to read and buy manga. I love the characters and the story a lot and its all extremely nostalgic for me, but obviously I have different preferences and tastes and obviously idc if someone doesn’t like what I like. As long as they aren’t shitting on the people that do for absolutely no reason and are trying to gravitate my opinion and make me agree with theirs. Its all fiction at the end of the day.

Fairy Tail is one of my favorite animes and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Yet, it is lacking and has many flaws.
Let me explain my reasoning for enjoying it so much though.
I am the kind of person that likes an emotional connection to a character. I want to be able to legitimately feel something when a character cries or laughs or is sad or whatever. FT was brilliant at that. I absolutely adored the ups and downs of the story and moods of the characters. On top of that, while it is fairly cheesy, their bond and friendship with each other is always the strongest; never letting something silly like PRACTICALLY DYING get in the way of being friends. In all seriousness, it is VERY cheesy but the way they preach friendship is still nice.
But, yes, its lack of consistency and plot arcs' similarities are pretty ridiculous and I do recognize that fact; however, I think the ability to look past its flaws and enjoy it for what it excels at, despite the flaws, is great. That doesn't mean you should enjoy anything you watch/experience. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I have mine; nothing anybody says about Fairy Tail will change my opinion of it. I will go out and say that while Fairy Tail is full of flaws, it is a genuinely good show and a very fun experience.
(Unpopular opinion: Neptunia is dumb, fight me.)
I agree and disagree with parts of this. I too thought Fairy Tail was a fun watch and the cheesy bonds of friendship were nice to see, but it's not one of my favorites for precisely the same reason you enjoyed it so much. I could not legitimately feel something when a character cried/laughed/etc like I can with other series because I knew nothing bad was going to happen to the characters, so the emotions of the characters felt manufactured instead of real. The suspense also felt fake to me because of this, so there were never any intense "I need to know what happens next!" moments, even if that was what the author intended it to be. I like it when a series makes my emotions run high, but Fairy Tail didn't do that even though the show promised it would.

I'm part of the younger generation and I love the older art style of anime as well as the modern, I honestly find it sad that many of my friends give older anime a pass because 'they look old' or 'the older art style sucks'. I do miss the 90s art even tho I wasn't even born yet.
Monster is a perfect example of this. It's fantastic but many new viewers or readers in my case give it a pass.

I think it’s overall a heartwarming anime that will likely make you laugh your ass off in certain occasions as well. It’s pretty great, however it apparently doesn’t fit others image of “a good anime” and sometimes all the “depends on your opinion” bullshit that people say is completely ignored by them themselves, ironically. Fairy Tail was awesome, and it made you feel like you were home.

I know that there are so many haters in the comments, so I'm scared to write this but it needs to be said:
Part of the reason that people hate Fairy Tail is because they hate the fact that it pushes ideas that you only need friendship to save the day. But that’s not true. If you actually watched the show you’d figure out that they aren’t winning because friendship is the strongest magic, they win because they have friendship to fight for. They have trained just as much as any other shonen anime protagonist, and also have sad backstories to learn from, but the reason they keep winning is because the bonds between them and their friends are motivation to them, and they would give their life to protect the ones they care about. They have something worth fighting for, they have something to stay alive for, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. They don’t push the idea of friendship being the magic that saves the day alone, they push the idea of having strong bonds between you and the people in your life and loving them so much that you’re willing to do anything to insure their happiness.
And in that case, what’s so wrong with actually liking the idea of friendship and bonds? The concept helps people understand that life will be crappy, but you also have friends and family by your side to help you through it. I love this look on Fairy Tail personally, but at the same time I feel like there’s so much more behind it. While watching other shonen animes you never get the feeling of ‘I am home’ like you do with Fairy Tail. You come to love this anime more on a personal level than others simply because it’s it trying to put you in the story like you’re a member of the guild and it opens the doors and says “Come on in. Welcome to the family.”
Many people who dislike Fairy Tail can say what they want, but on the level of both rage and depression as well as overwhelming joy this masterpiece encapsulated is simply out of their reach. With each hit the guild receives it’s like someone hit our own family member. With each victory we all feel the same satisfaction that any other guild member feels simply because we are too part of their guild. A lot of other shows put you aside and allow you to only witness these deep feelings but Fairy Tail took you along with them and made you feel everything they felt. For me, I stick by Fairy Tail because of the ideology and amazing feeling behind this anime. It helped teach me to enjoy the company of friends and family more than I ever thought I could, because I know that the types of bonds shown in Fairy Tail could be created in real life. This overwhelming sensation to risk it all for the ones you love is nowhere near on the level that other shows try to imitate.
