Next model: A resin printer with wash and cure built in, so you get prints out that you can touch right away. :D Dissolvable support as part of that of course, which I know exist already, but as part of such a combo unit. :)
Wouldn't that be awesome! Hit the print button, and just pull the cured print from the machine!
For me, that looked like the easiest set up and print resin machine I've seen. Very cool!
It really is just so simple and perfect
Great video and nice print 🔥🔥
Thank you!
Love your videos!!! Love Elegoo printers! Really tempted to get one of these resin printers if i wasn't already wanting to get the Centauri Carbon when they release it.
Thank you! And yes ELEGOO is doing so well!
I remember the little Photon Zero I first tried with Resin Printing, this looks so much easier to setup and go.
Everything is moving forward so fast!
Resin for me have always been a warm weather project the past 20 years using it without a printer, just because it is cold from Octomber to April. It' always been an issue about the fumes it put out and no space to vent them. But I have the same issue with spraypaint/spray glosses.
The price on this while adding the bed tilt is sooooo nice.
Definitely. It’s important to have some ventilation!
I dont really know anything about resin printers but from this video and others this seems to me an excellent beginners printer and the price...wow!
Absolutely!
Hey, LM I bought Mars 5 ultra on preorder, I wanted to buy the Saturn 4 Ultra too but $$$. I like the Idea of your process, it's a simple idea. I did buy some Wham Bam Slap Mats to help contain resin mess. Next on my list from ELegoo is wash n cure and the heater for the Mars.
Awesome! this makes me happy! The Mars 5 Ultra is such a good machine, you will be very happy with it. Congrats!
awsome looking. ill still stick with my fdm machines at the moment but man resin creates some fantastic prints. fantastic video and the machine looks smooth.
Amazing aren't they!?
@@LoyalMoses they are and from the research ive done your absolutely right these resin printers are far from where they came from and getting so much easier to do prints. less tinkering and more just sit and watch
Great video. I just subscribed. Soo tempting, but no more preorders for me after the Artillery SW X4 Plus debacle. Ill wait a few months before leaping to see if its actually as good as it looks.
Thank you! Yes, and I know what you mean. There are so many machines out on the market right now and so many on pre-order! Which ones do we get?!
I heard, the Elegoo Mars 5 Ultra has a lot of the same features of the Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra but in a smaller form factor. Would have been sweet if the lid tilted back like its big brother. But overall, I love it.
You can tell by how fast resin is progressing, that we are on the edge of big updates! And yes, the Mars line definitely has the removable lids rather than the tilt.
I saw in one of your videos recently that you give out 3D printer filament. Can I have some? I do 3D prototyping for inventions as a hobby and I could use some more. Idc what color it is.
Come by our Twitch live shows! We give it away all the time over there, or join our discord! We'd love to have you!
I have zero ventilation where I'm at. Keeps me from materials except PLA, TPU, and PETG. How are you handling venting for resin? Is that still a thing these days? How about the isopropyl wash station? Is it closed in operation? As isopropyl alcohol aerosol is very flammable. Inquiring minds want to know! 😛
I totally understand that! ELEGOO is sending me over their air purifier to test! Let's see how well it works!
Filament can still produce fumes when melting. I use a painting station with a tube venting air out a window to get rid of alcohol fumes, sanding dust, and paint spray of various toxicity. I only ware a mask if I'm painting heavily or sanding heavily.
That foreign object detection would have been handy to have on that last resin printer where you punctured the vat. But this printer looks pretty awesome!
Well... it had that feature but somehow it didn't work.
@@LoyalMoses oh...rip! 😆
💜
I have a question. This is my first time getting 3D printer and people told me that it takes many hours or even days or weeks to print out one model. How long did it take you to print that alien creature? And can you change the printing speed by lowering the quality or vice versa and would the machine detect whether you are using fast or slow resin because I worry about using slow resin for fast speed and vice versa.
I don't recall the exact time, but it was around maybe 4 hours or so. Not long at all. Quality of the print as well as the height of the print really determine the time it takes.
You can reduce quality (increasing the size of the layers) to reduce the time to print.
As for resins, any printer will be able to print them, and you'll just select the exposure times in the slicing software for the particular resin you are using, fast or slow.
@@LoyalMoses I am a dentist and I would like to print some of the wide but short dental models that are probably less than 1 inch. You said the height affects the speed of the print so I assume it should be faster than the one you printed? What about the width? Does it matter how wide the model is as long as the height is the same? I didn't know that the resin models are made with layers because I thought that was only for filaments. Should I also get the washing machine and curing machine? I will probably test with fast set resin and see if it also changes either the quality or time.
With FDM (filament) the time for each layer is determined by how much it has to do on each layer, so a full build plate that takes a long time to do each layer is then multiplied by the total number of layers (height) it has to do.
SLA (resin) is different, because the layer time doesn't change. Regardless if there are only a few items on the build plate or it is full, the UV light cures that entire layer in the same amount of time -- then you would multiply that exposure time by the total number of layers it has to do (height).
Now as for quality, SLA is much higher quality and dental applications are perfect for them because they can do much thinner (lower) layer heights and produce higher detailed prints.
One of the things that keeps me from using resin printers is getting rid of the used IPA. Last time I was resin printing I would take the used IPA to my local hazardous materials drop off location. How do you handle your used IPA, and anything that has resin on it, such as paper towels, used gloves, etc.?
You can leave IPA outside and it will evaporate and leave behind the cured dried resin. Then you can dispose of it in the trash.
@@LoyalMoses thanks for that tip, I may dig out my Anycubic Photon Mono X and give resin printing another go. 😁
Absolutely! Do it!
3D printing is definitely in everyone’s reach now
Absolutely!
If the SK1 and P1P were the same price what printer would you go for and why
Is it because speed or quality?
The P1P has superior print quality and an option for AMS as well as a better user experience / ecosystem.
@@LoyalMoses is there a way to improve the print quality for my SK1
Tinkering and tuning profiles if that is something you enjoy!
For me, the post processing and chemicals are the big reason I don't use SLA printers.
I understand, but I promise it isn’t so bad as people think!
How are the smells I would have to keep this in my Beadroom?
I wouldn’t recommend resin in a sleeping area.
An air purifier is arriving for us to test with, I will have a video for that soon.
@@LoyalMoses cool can't wait I have a p1s ATM but I want to get into printing and painting miniatures
Oh man! I wish I had time for that, would be so much fun! Also, great printer!
Will you be doing a review on the mono 7
I’d love to!
@@LoyalMoses so don't have one Planned in the next couple of weeks?
Only if it arrives!
It's late, no, wait, it's early. hahahahahha
Walked in the studio to film at 7PM, get distracted by 100 other projects, by the time you sit down to film... 4AM. LOL
@@LoyalMoses I 100% know that feeling, brother. hahahha
I’m out on resin printers until the toxicity of the resin is resolved… or a move and get a place with a detached garage
I totally understand! Have to be careful.
The lift off lid is a deal breaker for me.
Wow, you really take your lids seriously. 😆
@@LoyalMoses It's just that it's hard to print stuff all day and not have resin all over them, and that you have to have a place to set the lid down. It's one thing if you're doing one big print a day, but try it when you're printing 1 or 2 hour batches of parts all day. It's the equivalent of having a cooking pan with a lid that has no handle/knob. It works, it does it's job, but it's a real PITA. They only make them that way because it's cheaper, not because it's the best way to do it.
I can totally understand that@
First
...is worst.

Nice!
@@LoyalMoses thanks
I would still take my Mars 4 Ultra over the Mars 5 Ultra…pass Elegoo, I’ll be looking to other brands when it comes time to upgrade.
I don’t understand, what happened?
Everything's fine except the build plate, it is a bitch to clean.
I haven’t had trouble on either the Saturn 4 or this one.
I only clean the bottom side of the plate after i scrape off the print, I only clean the whole thing if I'm not printing for a while.
This looks like such a great printer for beginners and the price point is just 🤌🏾 *Chefs Kiss* 😂
It really is!
