Lora not suitable to transmit huge data like video or jpg. It is only suitable to transmit sensor data or MQTT. The Lora transmit rate also very low.

If you mean the distance, even Radio Stations with kilowatts of power reach 80km with a big antenna on a flat terrain.

Long range data connection projects are interesting . Internet-independent connections are important (thinking about national defense)

I‘d love to see you doing a real security surveillance project with this compact device. Please consider both, the remote object/building to be protected and also the home receiver end of the system.
"EdgeX". I'm guessing they're doing edge detection on objects and just sending that data across. It'll result in severely painterly image quality, but if all you care about is machine vision processing, that may be sufficient for your use-case.
Also, eww, MatchX appears to have pivoted to some kind of shitty crypto play. Hard. Pass. 😒

LoRa doesn't have the bandwith for video transmission for a reasonable time of transmission. It's a basic principal of LoRa.
so why not show how you can send a low res image with a few packets of lora data and then allow request to focus on as small area d send just that detail by a few more lora packets?

Hi, very nice project. Found your video while searching for Helium compatability devices. Do you think is it possible to make an android phone app that would use LoRa (on android) and that would send messages to main PC (with LoRa). PC would than print messages on paper (with printer). Lets say barman takes clients order and send it in to kitchen where it would be printed?

Very interesting video. If possible I want to put these transmitters over large herbivores like elephants and rhinos to track them. I of course need to understand how rugged these are. But suppose they were rugged what kind of sensor we need to use to just monitor the location (no humidity temp etc). what's the max dimension of the transmitter module ?

Lora has high latency (>40ms at least at maximum data rate) and not suitable for a drone.

LoRa is not designed for this purpose. It's designed for small-sized data such as a sensor data coming from tiny devices. Moreover, there will be duty-cycle restriction as well.

LoRa can only send data over 10km maximum in optimal lab conditions.
10km is a big lab!
i highly doubt the 100km claims due to the fact that 900MHz is LOS but the technology is still interesting.
Hello CETech, This video is kind of misleading, as you put it the images are not sent. I would love to see actual pictures sent from camera.
This video is very misleading. I like how all the comments are praising this video when it fails to deliver. The title is LoRa image and video transmission yet, it doesn't show that. LoRa is a a very low bandwidth system and cannot handle video transmission...hence why this video didn't show it. LoRa is a very interesting technology, but don't misrepresent it.
Can we code this wirelessly, simply thinking if we send this to space and then want to add new features can we upload new code to complete new tasks.

Hello CETech, Shouldn't this be possible to transfer video captured from a drone camera to a ground station. AKA: A netbook for example to view as a one off FPV system? trying to tie this all together to were the footprint on drone would be very minimal. Thanks again.
Barry, nope LoRa does not have enough bandwidth to support video or image or even audio.
drones use 5.8GHz to transmit live feed, no LoRa needed
@@staceixan 5.8 is the most common, but there are also other available frequency which can change performance (range/penetration). e.g 1.3GHz is available and will usually offer better range than 5.8, although they do use significantly larger antenna, so there are other downsides.
But with the right setup and conditions 5.8 can cover 10+ km

Bro, then how does there be a secured connectivity between sender and reciever, as if someone put a fake reciever in between they will also get the data isn't it?
You will have to encrypt the data to avoid that situation

What do you mean by "distortions"? It's digital. Either you get the bits or you don't. Plus, you can always apply FEC at the cost of additional airtime.

Dear Sir - can you tell us about your projects - maybe a video with the output that a user would see on their computer - My client needs to image/video monitor a gate to enter their farm and possible for seeing wildlife in adjacent woods. Only needs to be activated when a person, car, or animal pays a visit. But how soon and what would they be able to see? Went to the website and didn't see any output videos there either. You are silly. LoRa technology provides wireless transmission speeds from 0.3 to 50 kbit/s. You can't transmit video.
You should watch the video, then you'll understand that I'm transmitting text recognised from the video and not transmitting the video!

You have mentioned that using this module, we can process the video and send the results over LoRa (like car's number etc) upto 100km
My question is that, can we transmit live video stream over a distance of 50km (without any obstacles in between)??
Means, if I have EdgeX on one end, and using its camera, I capture video and without any processing, I want to transfer live video 50km far..

Nope, that's not possible with this module
LoRa (long-range radio) transmission rates max out at around 40 kilobytes per second. Considering that camera images can take 1 to 5 Megabytes, that would take half a minute to send a 1 Mb image under *perfect* conditions, which you are not likely to find. If there is an error, it is sent again. Now look at video. 1 minute of *VGA* video (not even close to HD) is about 24 Mb. That's 20 minutes to transmit 1 minute of video in perfect conditions, and if there is an error you have to resend it.
Bro can you make the same model but much more powerful than this I willpay you please.............
