      Honestly, I disagree.
They saw that the students had some medication with them, and their position as teacher/principal implied that they are smart enough to figure out the reason for that, yet they still chose to take the medication away from the student, accepting the risk of injury or death.
That's reckless endangerment right away, and (attempted) murder if anything happens.

As a child, I suffered from year-round environmental allergies, and (still do) I had to keep my pills in the office. My mom told me not to and it made my life much easier.
In high school, they made a new rule that girls had to keep pads and tampons in the office and use the office bathroom to use them but you weren't allowed to leave the classroom during class. Girls started purposefully bleeding on the seats. This rule lasted a week. I am a female and got to participate in this!

When I was in fourth grade there was this new kid who recently moved into town. He was in my class and was a great kid. But the teacher always had it out for him, getting mad at him for the smallest things. The teacher, super strict Mrs. Moreno (idk how the hell she got married) screamed at him just for dropping a pencil or yawning. She thought it meant he was bored (like in one of those 2000s Disney channel shows). So one day, the kid was daydreaming after he finished a test we were taking. When mrs Moreno noticed, she got furious. If looks could kill, he’d be dead. So mrs Moreno sent him to the principals office for supposedly “cheating”. Bullcrap. This ass of a teacher was monitoring this kid like he was in the army doing drills. So, to sum it up my 4th grade teacher mrs Moreno had it out for this one kid. But that’s not the end of it! I recently ran into the kid, and it turned out he had ADHD and dyslexia. And mrs Moreno knew the WHOLE TIME! She KNEW he was prone to slip ups like daydreaming. Like HOW CAN YOU BE THAT EVIL?

    • @WisdomThumbs
      @WisdomThumbs Před rokem +1

I thought you were writing about me for half that comment... But I had a different Mrs. Moreno in 4th grade, and I'm not dyslexic (turns out I wasn't ADHD either, just Asperger's, though that's recently been lumped in with "ADHD" by well-intentioned fools). Anyway, my Mrs. Moreno heard I was a problem child, so she decided to treat me as such even when I proved to be anything but. On the fifth day of school I finished all my work in the first twenty minutes of class, and started drawing a birthday card for my dad... But just before I finished the card, she tore it up and threw it in the trash, then sent me to detention, because I "couldn't possibly have finished the work that fast."
I got an A- on all the work for that day, and she'd just finished grading it when my mom stormed in with me after-hours to recover the birthday card. But the teacher had already dumped her waste basket in the garbage. The Principal said "I'm sorry, but I have to side with my teacher," even though my assignments were *sitting on the desk with better grades than most of the class.* She even had the gall to tell my mom "the other teachers were right about him," and when asked to elaborate, she said something like "only problem kids fight back against discipline."
Keep in mind, I'd been top of my class from Kindergarten until 2nd Grade, and the 1st Grade teacher even entrusted me with teaching a badly-abused dyslexic student how to read and write. But most of the elementary teachers were BPD maniacs. Not counting the elderly aides who were all angels, the 1st Grade teacher, librarians, and gym teacher were the only adults in the school who didn't single me out as a whipping boy. Those three delivered me happy cards and food when the other teachers kept me in ISS by any means possible (including goading their own children to punch me so I'd fight back).

I have 2 stories from my school career. In 7th grade science, we went to a different part of the school for a workshop. We get there and my teacher informed me I have a detention with her, because (I guess) the teacher though I had veered off to do something without her permission (I was with the class the entire time). I told her this and I guess she realized the pettiness of the situation and it wasn’t pursued further. The second incident was junior year electrical class. Our electrical teacher (who is very dry humored) informed us (all male class) that a female student was transferring from another vocational school and would be in our class, and to be “decent men” around her. No big deal. It was then jokingly discussed among other kids in the class as to who she would sit next to (one of the empty seats being next to me.) Also important, I’ve never had a gf or any girl to have feelings towards me. When asked by another kid if I thought she would sit next to me, I said something along the lines of “I would have a better chance of a robot sitting next to me ( hinting that my social life is nonexistent).” My teacher though that remark was sexually suggestive and sent me to the office. I explained why I was there to the director and assistant director, and they both laughed and sent me back to class.

I have one! When I was in primary school, I had really short hair, and I'm a girl. Like the length that most boys have their hair. One day we had a casual teacher, on the day we were supposed to have a class party, and this casual teacher was known throughout the school as being strict or mean. Anyways, she kept us in at lunch for some reason I can't remember, and when she was about to let us go, she decided to hand out lamingtons, (well we had to come up and get them from her). She told us "ladies first,". So of course, as a girl, I went up to get a lamington, but she looked at me and told me to sit back down since 'I'm a boy' apparently. I was too scared to correct her so I just sat back down. My mum filed a complaint to the school when I got home and told her, apparently. lol. (the teachers didn't look too happy my mum complained about that, since they called me into their office later.) I think I was in year 3-4 at the time.

I remember getting in trouble in like 4th grade for being "disrespectful" by referring to the police as cops. And the teacher never explained how it was disrespectful. Just started yelling at me in front of the class.
    Other notable incidents:
Got kicked out of the group that does tests/homework in a separate room for "not considering that humming helps (other student) work" even though the teachers didn't consider that silence helps me.
Theater teacher scolded me for having a panic attack on monologue performance day, and got more annoyed when I didn't have an answer for why I was crying/started crying again later at the thought of going up on stage because the initial panic made me extra anxious.
After reading all the stuff about inhalers I'm glad I didn't get any medications until after graduation. The concerns about misuse is fine and all, but it always seems to hinder students more than help, and I certainly wouldn't want to be going to the nurse every morning to ask for my daily set of pills.

Put in my class after school for detention for not retaliating to a fight? Go home you're not in trouble for anything. First period math? (I wanna be a math teacher) Bring in snacks, bring in drinks. Students need to eat so long as a mess isn't made I don't care what you bring in. And if you skipped breakfast? I got some cereal bars in my desk. Bad day? Everyone has those. Go sit in the back and work if you want I'll just hand you the homework and notes at the end of class. These are almost adult teenagers. Why punish them and ridicule them for things that are okay in the adult world. Clearly many schools are just a lawless land

So when he was slapping me, I told him to stop many times. He didn't stop. In self defense, I pumbled him and ran because I've never been in a fight before. He told the teacher and it went to the principal. In my opinion at the time, I thought she was strict. She told us to stop fighting, but he started it. He didn't get in trouble, but I did! The principal told my parents and scolded me and I got grounded. My grandpa is a pastor and knows the kids mom. I was terrified and I thought my grandpa would invite her to my house. Any kind of contact with someone can get you into trouble. For example-- my friends would always mess with my hair in science (two did it but one in particular) and once in the lesson the teacher turned around to him and told him off for touching my hair. Another time he did it I got told off because I turned around to him and lifted my hand to point at him and poke him in the face (just to annoy him in return) and got told off by the same teacher.

had chronic migraines and, oh yea fainted a few times and THANKFULLY was caught so i didnt hit my head (in school, ive sadly hit it pretty bad outside of school). wanna know why? low blood sugar. wanna know how? my bus came at 6:30 (school started at 7:30 so i was just... lucky) so i ate breakfast around 6, normally a bowl of cheerios. i had the last lunch period of the 3, which was at 12:30, the first one was at 10:30 and the second 11:30. so i would go 6 hours with only 200-300 calories of cheerios in me and by the time i got to lunch there was only chips and if i was lucky, cookies, which helped my blood sugar.
my doctor told me that i just need to eat more, specifically granola bars and stuff whenever i would feel low blood sugar. and i wouldnt be able to in my classes and i would turn dead white, my vision would get fuzzy and bright, my ears would ring, i would shake, i couldnt walk and sometimes i would faint bc my teachers wouldnt let me perform a biological function that you need to do to not die. i know ppl that have gotten UTIs because every single teacher says "you shouldve gone at lunch" and then youre lucky if the bathrooms even were available at lunch. but thats 4-6 hours of holding it in every day.
thatd be illegal if everyone were over 18 and it were a workplace. why is it okay when its children?

Got to the point where I was sent to the principal's office, and lectured for an hour. Because I was *frowning.* Later in the year, I wasn't going to make the same mistake, so I didn't let a smile leave my face in her class. She got more and more agitated, and then took me into the hall and lectured me about respect. *Because I made an expression of happiness.* I got in trouble for both smiling and frowning from the same teacher. Given the fact that this was first period, and i was tired AND bored, i half-yawned half-sighed, and it just so happened the substitute was at the board and i was in the front row. he noticed i sighed, not noticing that it was sort of a yawn first, and started saying things like "are you bored of my class?" "is the work that i give too easy?" "do you think that you're too good for my class?" "i can see you exasperating right in front of me." i just responded with,

I hated getting into trouble at school because my mum was a teacher there, so if I got in trouble, I got in trouble at home as well, which often meant being grounded or having privileges taken away.
As a result, I become known as a teachers pet. However, there was a 2 week period where everything I did was wrong. I got yelled at for stuff I can't even remember. "Daydreaming" when I wasn't and that sort of thing. Both the headmistress and my teacher were constantly having a go at me for nothing, and I remember having a breaking point where I just stopped caring because even trying to be well behaved didn't help. What's weird is that it eventually stopped and they were normal with me after a few weeks.
I always wondered what the hell happened - then 10 years later, my mum told me that during that time at school, the headmistress tried to get rid of my mum because she didn't like her (My mum was a music teacher and the head wanted to do all the music stuff). As a result, my mum applied for another job at the school that wasn't a permanent job - my teachers.
Came to the realisation that they were taking the whole thing out on me. Teachers can and do abuse their power if it suits them.

I remember one time for a class we had this fun assignment where you were put in groups and had to pick a game for the class to play except your group because you hosted. My group chose heads up seven up and this one kid tapped someone’s thumb with a stuffed animal. I thought that was hilarious and the whole timeI tried my best to not laugh hella loud so the whole time I was making that quiet breathing sound people make when quietly laughing. Apparently it was “distracting even though no one paid attention to me cause they were to busy keeping their heads down to play the f*cling game. So I was kicked out and had to put my face to the wall crying. I was near 10 yrs old so you can guess that I was hello sad and upset that I couldn’t watch the game. Better yet the heads up seven up game was my idea so just imagine how much more sad I felt being kicked out of a game that my group hosted that was my idea.

"Don't talk back!" Is the universal response of an adult who knows they just said something stupid while talking down to a child.
Teacher: [Calls me out] Do you know why I'm writing you up?
    Me: No.
Teacher: You were outside the bathroom. (I literally have no idea what happened outside the bathroom)
    Me: No I wasn't.
Teacher: Well, you were doing something. (Technically true)
Other student: Teacher, are you talking about [incident]? Because that was [actual culprit].
Teacher: Oh, [looks back at me] well you should've told me that sooner!

In elementary, I got in trouble constantly. I wasn't even doing anything 90% of the time, but we had just moved to a tiny catholic town and because we weren't related to anyone else the teachers would never take me seriously when I explained the situation. This resulted in lunch detention of my birthday for 3 years straight and far too many after school detentions and ISS visits. They didn't even tell me where the after school detention was the first time and then had the gal to be mad when I just wandered around the school aimlessly.
In high school, it was more deserved, but it still rubbed me the wrong way because everything I did was something a football player had done literally less than a second before. But it was in Texas, and Texas prays at the alter of football, so they got a fond laugh and a hair tousle and I got sent down to the office. Which, again, they didn't tell me where the office I was supposed to go to was. So I just sat outside and figured someone would come out to get me eventually. Gotta love rural school districts, amiright?

In 7th grade, there was a smoke alarm due to the smoke in the cafeteria and started to put my hands over my mouth and breathe hard. I eventually took my hands off of my mouth and asked if I could go and get my inhaler. The teacher said "You can wait, you’re being a distraction". So I asked again and I got sent to the principals office, he began saying "You’re being a distraction to the class, why Zayne?". I explained there was too much smoke and he gave me a three week detention for being dramatic. I pulled out my inhaler and used it in front of him, he then sent me to the counsellor because I was "delusional".

I had a pass that let me leave five minutes early, as well as have a rolling backpack that had my belongings. Both of these things were how I got around in the building during those months where my surgical scar wouldn't be bumped into.
One of my teachers bumped down my five minute pass to two, and was not happy i had my bag with me in the class. I was the only one that had one with me at all times. Why? because I wasn't aloud to carry anything over five pounds. Which, if you think about it in school terms, is actually your materials you need for class.
What did all of my teachers do? Make me take out what I needed from my bag and put it in the front of the room, and another of my teachers asked when id be putting this bag in a locker.

I just find it absolutely stupid that some teachers/adults would say “oh, that’s to hard” to a child and then pass them a book that had less sense than that vegan teacher’s ramblings. People have different reading levels, not all children are dumb brained and can only comprehend what 1+1 is, it’s quite unfair to be honest, it is straight up limiting the student who is obviously bored of the two sentence text. And the fact he called you stupid too , he should have been called stupid, honestly.
sorry for the rant, I just wholeheartedly dislike these brain dead lima beans of a teacher.

back in fourth grade, this boy I sat beside who always tried to bug me and annoy me decided that it would be a good idea to stab me with a pencil (I still have the mark from it). I didn't tell the teacher because I was afraid of him getting mad for me telling on him and then would tell her that I did something back to him. I went to go get a paper towel to clean the blood, and the teacher saw me and asked what I was doing up. I said I needed to clean some blood from a scratch, so she tells me that that's no reason to get up and "distract" her class and sat me back down. I hated this teacher so much. She constantly ignored what students did and let them get away with it.

Had a teacher in P.O.D. (principles of Democracy a senior class ) that said his classroom was a dictatorship and he was in charge... Man was an absolute a**hole. I was the shy quiet kid in class always either reading or sleeping after doing work. Once day I saw profanity written on my desk and was trying to erase it. Unfortunately the desk squeaked and he got mad and threw me out of class thinking I was doing it on purpose. I started to cry due to panic and undiagnosed PTSD at the time and one of the teachers, who knew me since my locker had been near her class in freshman year, saw me and tried to calm me down and went to get paper towels for me. Just after she left he came out and began to chew me out to the points of sobs and wails, absolute mental breakdown for me. I went to the guidance office and called my dad. I didn't get in trouble since my dad came in and scared the crap out of the counselor, and most involved Due to being a 6ft2, 200+lbs factory worker and papa bear. After that for about I week I went to the office and did my classwork there.

    Well fun story...
I was about 2 years old so I don’t really remember this, but my dad was there so he told me the story when I was old enough to understand. Here’s a little background, I was at daycare playing with toys at the middle of the day (the time my dad usually picked me up.) There was this boy that would always take my toys, he had a kinda big head, and brown hair (according to what my dad said.) He would always mess with me. And one day, when my dad comes to pick me up, he takes the toy that I was playing with, and ya know I tried getting someone’s attention but none of the workers really noticed or cared (like usual 😒.) My dad see’s this and he watches it plays out bc somethings obviously going down 😌. Anyway, he took my toy and walked away with it. My dad said I looked pretty mad. So I went up to him and threw him away and took my toy. 💅🏽 He fell on his head. 😝 and I was about to get in trouble but my dad just picked me up and took my home 🥳
I hope you liked the story ✨

Once when I was in elementary school, there was this thing called an "uh oh card", which was made out to be the worst thing that you could ever receive. I got two during the five years that they had those wretched things. The first I got in first grade, for calling this girl in my class a meanie after she made fun on my LEGO stack. She tattled on me and the school called my parents. Another time, I was also in first grade. We were doing a color-by-numbers (math edition) of an old lady holding an umbrella in the rain. This boy next to me called the woman an ugly old lady, and I felt strangely defensive of her, and so I said: "YOUR an ugly old lady", in typical first grader trash talk. He told on me, and once again, the school called my parents, and I got in big trouble. I was such a little delinquent in first grade, apparently.

I had a teacher who yelled at the entire 5th grade for "misbehaving during a fire drill". 5th grade was the highest grade level that school had at the time, so obviously we were called stuff like "role models" and "leaders of the school", which didn't help when the kindergarten classes were acting up and the teachers blamed us for it, the kindergarteners were on the other side of the playground. The teacher that used up all but five minutes of our recess to give us an unnecessary lecture had repeatedly said that we were failures but had some potential, and the one person who stood up for all of us was sent to the principals office. The worst part was that the teacher who gave us that lecture and the kindergarten teachers never gave us a decent apology, the teacher that gave us the lecture apologized but in a letter. The fact that teacher couldn't say it to our faces and give the person who stood up for everyone didn't get a better apology really made me upset.

Zero tolerance policies are so stupid, like if you’re going to punish everyone involved even if they did nothing to provoke or retaliate against the person attacking them, eventually they or their parents are going to get it into their heads to say “well if you’re going to get punished for being bullied, you may as well fight back and do something to actually deserve that punishment. Time to kick the bully’s teeth in.” Also it’s basically backing up the bully, because they’re trying to hurt their target. Getting their target’s privileges taken away just from a small incident would likely be worth it to a bully. Especially if they have a group, and they have the idea to split the bullying between them. If a group of just 5 students took turns picking on their target in front of the teacher, with the result of each incident being a mere lunchtime detention, each of the bullies would only spend one day a week in detention while their innocent victim would be in there constantly. There needs to be solid investigation so that only those who are actually causing the fights get punished.

So whether we were the initiator, the victim, a bystander, or the preventor, we'd all get punished the same. I got detention for stopping a bully from beating up a kid. That policy teaches people to not stand up for themselves or others. It's toxic.

15:20 i zoned out a lot in school too. I had good grades but had a habit of zoning out and people would wave their hand in front of me and say my name and i'd snap out of it. But it stopped happening much after i graduated school. I honestly think it could be a result of the immense pressure kids are under. You have to be submissive to like every person you encounter in your life as a kid, you don't get to have a voice often, you have to keep good grades, go to school 8 hours a day, keep up with homework, and study efficiently enough to do well on tests. All that coupled with lack of sleep and learning social skills to survive amongst your peers. And learning who you are and what you want and how the world works. It's all a lot to take in.

I repeated 'what is cyan, what is magenta?' over and over to annoy him, because this kid always acted like some sort of authority figure. He called the teacher and told her that I was throwing pencils at him. I got in trouble, because he was a teachers pet. Karma came for him though, and the rebels (1 girl 1 boy, girl is my friend) pelted him with paper balls. I laughed and passed them their paper back to throw again. May sound mean, but he tries to intimidate everyone and boss them around.
Also, the amount of detentions I've got for fighting (standing there while a weak bully tries to punch me) is huge. In our detentions, you have to fill in a form about why you're there, what happened etc. Those forms were fun to fill out, I remember one: question:What did you do to deserve this detention? My answer: Stood there and got punched in the chest.
