    Great video and thank you so much! Clear and concise without any fluff. I've never taken a phone apart before but I wasn't going to spend $200+ having a professional replace the screen on this $180 device, lol. So I bought a $50 screen on Amazon and spent 1.5 hours fixing it myself.

    Question,
    The small black wire that runs from the top, down the side and snaps on at the bottom? can that thing that it snaps onto at the top be replaced or can i solder the wire to the spot still? I cant afford a new phone or repair so i fix it myself but this is a little different

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 6 měsíci

      That connector should be replaceable if you can find a replacement from another phone or something and if your soldering knowledge or skills are good enough to do that type of work. As far as just soldering the wire to it, not sure I would assume it would work.

    What adhesive do you use and how long will i need to apply heat to the back of the phone to take the cover off

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 2 lety +1

      Here is a link to a video I did on adhesive ( czcams.com/video/T4iiPUIM7-Y/video.html ) and you can use a hair dryer to gradually heat the back plate evenly and get a pry tool in between the back plate and frame to work your way around prying it off. You can apply more heat as needed during the process but hot enough to the touch should be fine, no need to over heat.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 2 lety

      No, the glass is fused with the screen, the complete screen assembly needs to be replaced. Only factories with special tools and machines can properly defuse and remove the outside glass and replace it without damaging the screen or "mickey mousing" a new glass on with touch or other problems etc.

    • @lacyron
      @lacyron Před 2 lety

      Ha ha, I think your name 'Snoop" is the answer. Phone companies started making it almost impossible to remove the battery after the CIA found out that Osama was removing the battery in his phones so he and his men could not be tracked. Many people think that the reasons companies made it hard to remove the battery is to force people to buy a new phone when the battery dies. No that is not the reason, it's because the GOVERNMENT intimidated them to do that so they (CIA, NSA, etc.) can track us, and spy on us via emails, the mic and camera, etc.

      It's not an easy part to find. If you tore it a bit, its fine. It helps transfer some heat but phone will still work without it. You can also use one from another phone if its similar in shape/size etc.

    Literally just bought this phone today then 30 min later, as I get out of the car it slips through my hands and shatters on the concrete, this is the only video I could find on this type of phone, but I still have no idea how to change the screen. Do I have to go through the whole phone yo get to the screen, or can I just go straight for the screen?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 2 lety +1

      Oh that sucks. Ya you would need to take the phone apart to get to the screen. You can go to this link (www.mobiledefenders.com/motorola-repair-parts/g-series/g-stylus-2021-xt2115.html ) and they have all the parts for the phone. You will need the LCD frame assembly and the adhesive (back cover) part since you will need that pre cut original adhesive to re apply your back plate to the phone. The screen assembly will come complete with the frame, so you would basically need to move over all your parts like the mother board, battery, front facing camera and speakers etc. to the new frame with pre installed screen. You can order any additional parts you may need from that website. Hope it helps, if you have any other questions, let me know.

    Ever since I got this phone on launch. It's been the best cheap phone that I've used. Still holding strong through 2022. I had one incident were my charging port on my phone broke. How hard would that be to replace? Is it possible to upgrade the port or does it have to be an exact replacement? Because I had it professionally repaired. For some reason they put an old type c port in. It took away the phones ability to turbo charge. Plus I can't use anything type c through USB. Like type c earphones for example. It only charges normal speed and that's it. Even with the proper charger and cable. If anyone knows what I can do. Please let me know.

      Thanks. Here is a link for the replacement parts. Scroll down you will see the sub boards. Keep in mind, you want to make sure to order the correct model version that's for your phone. For example if your model number is XT2115-3 you want to make sure you get the same model variant, since the -3 is the region code and different region versions will have different antenna contacts causing service issues. Also keep in mind there is a 5G variant of this in a separate section on that website, so if yours is the 5G version, search for that one instead. www.mobilesentrix.com/replacement-parts/motorola/g-series/g-stylus-g-pro-xt2115

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 10 měsíci

      first thing always in that case is to not try and power on the phone, take it apart and disconnect the battery as soon as possible to reduce the chance of shorting etc. Once you take it apart you need to dry it out and brush off any corrosion with a small brush like a tooth brush from chips or connectors. Then you can re assemble and try to power on to see if it will work. If not you need to figure out which part is bad or if multiple parts (screen, battery, board etc). From there you would replace whichever you need to get it back up and running.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 2 lety

      You would need to heat up and remove the back plate, remove the screws on the top plastic cover and remove that, then peel off the graphite film over the board or lift it up so you can disconnect the battery cable from the main board. Then you need to use isopropyl alcohol and apply some to the sides of the battery and let it sit for 30 seconds so it eats away at the adhesive underneath making it easier to pry the battery off. You can apply more isopropyl alcohol if needed while prying it off. There is a link in the description for the isopropyl alcohol.

      If you get a screen with frame combo which comes with the screen pre attached, then no you don't need any new adhesive for the screen. But if you get a screen replacement that is just the screen with no frame, then yeah you would need to apply new adhesive or b-7000 glue to adhere it to the frame.

      You might need the entire lcd frame assembly, not sure if they sell the buttons by itself. You can check this website or ebay. www.mobiledefenders.com/motorola-repair-parts/g-series/g-stylus-2021-xt2115.html

    Could I take the battery for the moto G Stylus 5G and put it in this phone?
    The 5g has a 5000mah battery, and this one has a 4000mah, but the phones seem to be identical in size and shape.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Před 2 lety

      Hi, no the larger battery would not fit in the battery compartment. The phone size may be similar, but internally the allocated spot for the battery is smaller in size on the g stylus compared to the g stylus 5g.
