- BEST CHEAP EATS IN ALBUFEIRA 2020 - And The Algarve Portugal, This Is Our Retirement explore eating cheaply in Albufeira and The Algarve Portugal. We find a supermarket with a huge restaurant selling traditional and international cuisine for extremely low prices. Pingo Doce in Albufeira has a great restaurant cafeteria, it has a grilling station where you can watch your fresh fish, steak or pork be cooked to perfection. You can also buy beer and wine to accompany your meal. The restaurant is clean bright and colourful.
Behind and above Pingo Doce is the smaller restaurant called O'Jorge it's quite hidden making a challenge to find it, but again extremely reasonable prices for traditional Portuguese food and they have a reputation for the best grilled chicken in The Algarve and Albufeira. Chicken by the dozens are grilled everyday for lunchtime. Another speciality of O'Jorge is the grilled garlic shrimp.
Don't forget supermarkets are great for a quick espresso and Pastel da Nata for one euro, or try most street cafes for excellent coffee and pastries, usually two coffees (latte) and a pastry to share is under four euros.

Another great video! I never ate ate Pingo Doce (just brought my food home to cook) but it was my favourite Supermarket for most things and then Lidl was my other). As you might know I just spent the last few months in NJ visiting y daughter and Lidl is there now. I’d get emotional every time I would walk in... reminded me of home in Portugal. Maybe Lidl will one day come to Canada 🇨🇦. They have the best prices in the US, that’s for sure.

Have been to that big Pingu Doce supermarket self service several times and great value.All the local office workers eat there so very uncomfortably busy midday.

Doubt we'll be going to Portugal this year considering their infection rates there and that of Brazil whose citizens come to work in Portugal during the summer season.
That's unfortunately going to be a big problem as the Brazilian strain will cause huge ongoing reinfections in Portugal for ages to come unless direct flight are halted from Brazil to Portugal for the next few months at least. Anyway the summer you guys and thanks for all the super holiday videos.🏝☀️🏖
Thank you! We tend to get to the Pingo just as it opens or go later to avoid the crowds, it is great value and we enjoy the selection. On the roof of that store is a little restaurant O Jorge which has a dish of the day and is great value. Have a great weekend.

In southern France restaurants, 1 mid size 4 frommages and pork jamon pizza is priced at 10 euros. Time to time there are bargains in pizzas, e.g. in Toulon I have eaten 2 mid size pizzas, 2 soft drinks , 2 small cakes for 13 euros. Portugal is real bargain in terms of food.
We do find Portugal good for food prices and accommodation. The food can be very high quality traditional food at very low prices too, the Pizza was very good and fresh. Thanks for watching.

Hey Tina and Norm!! Cool to see all these different spots you checked out for cheap eats! That's great that they had a daily dish, for 6 Euros and a pizza for 3.99 Euros. Such a great price! That's awesome they had grilled fish too, and never had duck risotto before, but sounds interesting. 1 euro per pint of beer is very inexpensive, and 2-3 for sandwiches.. sounds amazing, compared to US prices!! LOLOL!!! Sandwiches out to eat here, are usually $15 minimum, so you're getting such great deals there! Great video and safe travels.. Are you guys coming back home to Canada?? The restaurant is cordoned off until noon, if you can get there for that time it’s not as busy, from 12:30 to 1:30 it’s busy, but it never takes more than 10 minutes to get food. From 3:30 pm onwards they introduce another cheaper dish of the day and they are open for an early dinner. We had pizza as a take out also.
