This is a quick tutorial to show you how it's used to read the codes, read other values (such as engine oil level, water pump speed, oil temperature, etc), open your exhaust flap, and even register a new battery.

    Thanks for the video. Here is E90 battery registration using BimmerLink steps:
    After replaced my original battery
    1) connect BimmerLink with Veepeak OBD2 adapter
    2) Put the car key in and start ignition (not start engine), without foot on brake
    3) clean up error memories by the app
    4) run battery registration

    Done!

    Awesome! most videos show what the apps can do but rarely a detailed walk thru the actual trouble codes. Any idea if it can show engine run time.

    I recently both 2008 6.50i e64. There’s no button to fold rear mirrors and my remote is not doing anything even i hold 5 seconds or so, i have to fold them manually... is this app able to code my remote ? what is the difference between bimmercode and bimmerlink ? Which one should i go for ? Great vid btw

      +Erkut Karlikli BimmerCode does coding of your vehicle (not your remote btw). BimmerLink gives you diagnostic info. BimmerCode is the one you would need for this scenario. But you should google or ask a dealer of your car has that capability since I don’t know for sure that model does.

    Sir, the water pump doesn't show any numbers, does it just zero when the engine starts?

    Will it work with a 2007 E86 Z4? my electric steering stopped working and installing a new steering servo & controller requires programing the ECU. Will the app be able to do that?

      +kbruin79 I’m pretty sure that the app works for that car, but as far as having that capability I don’t know. I’d contact the app developers and ask.

    Can this clear the SOS emergency warning when the sos battery in yhe headline dies and needs replacing? About to replace mine but not sure how to clear fault.

      +Ionut Ilie I’m not positive, but I doubt it can read sensors that don’t really make sense for it to read.

      @@HelpMeDIY Those sensors make sense for me as an non professional/extert user. I don't know why the hand brake sometimes it's working and sometimes no. Also, at service told me that they cannot read the pad brake sensor from the back. I have no idea why my wheels from the back are stuck... I already paid few testers without any real response 🤣. Thank you for your response.

      @@MrBRANDaho hmm sounds more like a real physical issue and not a sensor issue if your wheels are stuck and the handbrake sometimes doesn’t work

      BimmerCode doesn't support the E46.
      From every 3 Series generation it supports:
      E90, E91, E92, E93, G20, G21, F30, F31, F34, F35, F80.

    I can't get this to connect to my vehicle! Iv'e got the setting set for VeePeak Bluetooth LE, the BlueTooth is turned on in the Tablet settings but all it does is say connecting, then identifying vehicle, then the can't connect window!

    do you need to purchase the app to scturly code the changes you make? changed halogen running lights to led ones and got a fault code bought vgate pro and downloaded app but won't let me use the code feature saying i need to purchase the app goong be nearly £70 just to change some bulbs

      +Dave Bird the only coding I’ve done has been with BimmerCode and yes, I had to purchase it. Well, I guess I’ve used ISTA+ or whatever it is to code out the EDC. I have separate videos for each of those.

      @Help Me DIY thanks for the quick reply. I'm £800 down in a week on the X3 thanks to new control arms and front tyres. I suspect I need new wheel speed sensors due to my dash having every warning light known to man. I just wanted to ID which one. I'm just a bit sick of throwing money at it at the moment so wanted to avoid the £34 on top of everything else if it doesn't help 🤣

      There is a “Transmission Temperature”, so I’d say yes.

      @@HelpMeDIY resetting the oil service using the dash doesn’t work for me right now. It gets to the end as if it’s working then says “reset unsuccessful”

      @@HelpMeDIY you misunderstood I think. The manual way of using the physical button on the dashboard doesn't work. I havent tried using Bimmerlink yet because I already bought Bimmercode and want to avoid the added cost if I can help it.

      Yes it can. From Bimmerlink site
      "DPF Regeneration: Check the current state of the diesel particulate filter in your car and request a regeneration if required. Only for cars with diesel engine and diesel particulate filter." As he has an M4, that option doesn't appear.

      @@HelpMeDIY error memory contains critical errors, info error memory contains noncritical error for information purposes only and the permanent error contains errors that can not be cleared manually, but will be cleared automatically by the car. This is what I got from some forum sites. Hope this helps.

    Do not run the engine with the OBD2 adapter plugged in, or drive with it plugged in for long period of time, it will fry the unit. Easily avoidable and could be a very expensive mistake.
    If you're worry about your car's battery being drained while coding, just plug your battery trickle charger in, because if the battery runs out while it is being coded and the computer turns off. That could be another expensive mistake.
