  • Gore Vidal discusses his book, “Hollywood.” He begins by explaining that the book opens in 1917 with the birth of the film industry in California. The cast of characters includes such legends as Charlie Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks, Franklin D. Roosevelt, William Randolph Hearst and even Vidal’s grandfather, Senator Gore. The book also encompasses events such as, the Fatty Arbuckle scandal and the Desmond Taylor murder. Also in this interview, Vidal discusses the historic events of the Teapot Dome scandal and the infidelity of both President Harding and F.D.R.
