He really said: "No one made their second game without making their first game first" lol
yes 💀
Technically the truth 😂
The fact you got all the way to putting a game you built from scratch on steam is an accomplishment in and of itself. This is amazing props to you homie.
this is also true thanks 💪
Choosing the right game genre is the 2nd most important thing an indie dev should do, after the execution itself. A 2D platformer is not a good choice, especially if you don't have behind you a top tier visual artist. Thank you for your video, and I hope your next project would be x10000 times more successful!
I have the exact same opinion about their steam page. Even after 3 years I still have to google how to navigate the pages I need to find.
😂😂 so ther's no hope I would ever find them
I appreciate your honesty and being transparent about the realities of game development. Keep going and best of luck on your next game.
good job on your game release! this is very helpful.
I'll definitely check out your game when it's on a sale! It definitely fits the style of games I play! Also, I love your videos, they inspired me to make my own 2D engine in OpenGL too! Keep up the great work!
I loved your game and would love a post-mortem about your process when learning/designing puzzles
thx bro 💪
You inspire me in so many ways. I want to learn c++ and opengl good enough to make my own engine to learn. Also I want to make games but I am just not good enough. And you inspired me to become a youtube game dev channel one day too. Thanks man you are my daily inspiration
This sounds so nice, I'd love to see your channel, send it on my discord channel and tag me so I can see 💪
@@lowlevelgamedev9330 Maybe once I get to show something for it :) But this is not about me. I really hope we can enjoy your videos for a long time!
Your game looks so good! You should feel proud! Video is fun too. If anything im kinda confused why your game didnt get more visibility? Did you try retagging it?
thank you, well I think I didn't get more visibility because there are many platformers made by indie devs so I really need something to set me appart to get some more sales
Good video. How many wishlists did Midnight Arrow have before release?
I don't remember but less than 700
"5:33 I think no one made millions with their first game"
Re-Logic and Mojang with their first game: 💰💰💰💰💵💵
Notch made games like crazy before minecraft he was the only one working on it in the early days minecraft was just his first game that caught on to the point he could form a studio around in and hire people
I'm going to launch a game in less than 2 months. Any content related to marketing or any advice is welcome :)
good luck 💪💪 Well you probably have already but in case you didn't you should look into what Chris Zukowski has to say about making a Steam page + marketing
I don't know why these solo or indie developers make crap low spec games they really should be aiming for something higher
Can you make a video on making a c only 3D game engine editor (no dependencies for a challenge)
thank you for the answer right at the start. omg. sub, like and prayer to you.
edit: the c++ stuff is sexy as f , we are the 5%
thank you 💪💪
My game made $36 :D but hey, 1 is better than 0.
for real!? I made only 13 dollar (before fee) after I release first game on steam
amazing, what game engine you used for that game?
it was made from scratch in c++, I used my 2D library, I have videos on it if you are curious
@@lowlevelgamedev9330 where the videos i dont see anything in playlist
Supremely based answer.
I am greatly inspired by you to learn low level programming but don't you treat this as hobby and use a game engine to make an actual game , because i feel like time is not the problem if i have to work for 10 years to make a game like god of war i may do but work or time is not the biggest problem. The biggest problem in my opening is "know how" , after certain time your system needs certain complexity and in my knowledge there a not literature to learn advanced concepts like advance rendering techniques, animations, lighting, etc only resources available to you is to learn from existing game engine and its not easy to understand unreal engine code to learn lets say about lumen or nanite because its implementation scattered in multiple files or modules and you need great expertise to understand that
Your game is simple, yet beautiful.
Sadly, the market is dominated either by multiplayer games or by games that are controversial (that are usually NSFW, looking at you TCOAAL)
Can you provide some sources for how you did the lighitng for this
The code is not online but it is simple, so first of all ambient light for each block that is calculated by adding each light's contribution and clamping the result to 1.Each torch has light intensity and it is decreased by one for every block you go, if you are not far the light will just be max. Finally I do diffuse lighting for every face using a direction normal and a texture that masks the first 2 rows of pixels of each texture to hoghligjt tjat part, for every light weighted by the inverse square law
did you send the game to some youtubers?
Yes i would like to see an puzzle Video!! ┗|`O′|┛
Make it 77 :)
WARNING, Typo in title!!!
thanks 😂😂
It was made instead of make?
lol stiam dupa accent ca esti roman din prima))
exposed again 😫
Si mie imi dadea vibe-ul de roman, dar nu eram foarte sigur :))
Hey can wan a team up or some shit
