- In this video you can enjoy the cab ride - train driver's view from Sapri to Naples along the Naples-Salerno-Reggio di Calabria Railway in 4K/60 frames per second.
The Salerno-Reggio Calabria railway (known in Italian as the Ferrovia Tirrenica Meridionale) is the most important north-south railway connection between Sicily, Calabria and the rest of the Italian peninsula. It forms the southern section of Corridor 1 of the European Union's Trans-European high-speed rail network, which connects Berlin and Palermo.
The line is characterised by a track mostly close to the coast and is used by all categories of trains coming from Naples, Rome and other northern cities headed for Calabria, Sicily and on the initial section to Battipaglia, to Potenza.
The Naples-Salerno railway line is a major railway line in the Italian rail network, forming a link in the main trunk line to southern Italy. The first nine kilometres from Naples to Portici was the first railway in Italy, opened on 3 October 1839.

@wolflabferroviecampanie grazie!
This region of Italy offers so much to see, and is more authentic in my opinion than the northern part of the country. I was a few times also in that area, Amalfi Coast is a must see there, thanks for the video, greetings from a traveller from Germany!
@roadsexplore Couldn't agree more! Amalfi coast is just amazing. Also driving around here is very nice. Greetings from Slovenia.
I used to go to Sapri on vacation with my grandparents when I was a kid. We used to take the sleeper train from Torino to Sapri. This video brings a lot of nice memories… 🥰

@user-jv6fx4qy7j Grazie. Be with us today at 3 pm.
You should consider doing more of these intercity lines in Italy since they seem to gain a lot of views on the channel (and the lines themselves are beautiful as well), perhaps a camera inside the cab would be better for longer trips (due to things like battery issues or it stops the recording) but I don't know if you need any special permit from Trenitalia/any other train company (but since you already have a big enough platform to reach out professionally to some train companies I'd say to give it a try). Also, muting any private conversation from the cab is still better than the strong wind noise at high speeds.
These are just suggestions by the way aha, I absolutely love the videos so I want to help improve them if I can , on CZcams in general cab rides seen from inside always have lots of views, the longer the better because a lot of people use it to go to sleep so 2:30/3:00+ hours videos tend to do better.
Also, a couple of shots of the outside of the train are always appreciated by train enthusiasts (usually at the very start of the video, like a couple of info about the loco and number of carriages).
If you ever need infos about the Trieste area/train lines I'd be more than happy to help
@Past1no I appreciate your suggestions. I am trying to put the microphone inside of the cabin, but it is not always possible. I am also working hard on the outside separate microphone and the sound quality...it takes time, but I know that eventually I will get it. Thank you for your help. If I'll need some extra info from Trieste region, will contact you. Wishing you a wonderful Easter Holidays!
All lines in Italy out of the ''flat area'' at north are scenic and worth to film. Regional lines too. I am not sure what it is possible in reality but they would be worth to film and pleasure to watch.

Mais uma belíssima viagem. Primavera europeia.
@joaosantanna7552 Obrigado.
Another enjoyable journey, thank you. Interesting to see, around 1.30, how many kilometres of track are on a viaduct across farmland. This saves acquiring land for wide alignments. The roads do this too.
(Edit) The train to Metaponto that you pointed out reminded me of our visit there, where Pythagoras lived. As well as the fascinating ruins there, the museum is one of the finest museums I've ever visited; small, but very comprehensive and attractively set out. Excuse the diversion.
@brucewilliams8714 I find the additional information very interesting. When we are travelling this kind of suggestions and experiences are always the best. I am glad that you liked this journey.
Ottimo !
@pierluiginistri8042 You are very welcome. Have a nice day!
Wonderful! I would love to see the old line between Salerno and Napoli next time though :)
@EnricoS1981 Thank you for your feedback. My to-do list is getting longer and longer...but, I am trying to keep up and film the suggested lines.
Thank you for this beautiful video. Due to tunnels section this part of Tirrenica inferiore doesn't allow high cube containers trains. Adequate section is too expensive and those trains coming/going to Sicily and Gioia Tauro port in Calabria do itinerary Paola-Cosenza-Sibari-Taranto-Bari and then Adriatic line to go/come to northen Italy

Sweet! I hope we will also see the journey in the opposite direction, from Sapri to Reggio C., right next to Sapri is the Italian Rio de Janeiro called Maratea, with its very own Christ the Redeemer statue overlooking the sea.
@wyqtor great. I didi not now that Italy has its own Rio de Janeiro. Will put the journey in the opposite direction on my list. Thank you.
@@RailRelaxation He exaggerated a bit, the only thing that Maratea has in common with Rio de Janeiro is a giant statue of the Christ over the hill. But indeed Maratea is worth a visit, it's a lovely town near the Tyrrenian sea scattered on quaint hills.

If there would not be a ''mist'' on the lens than it would be perfect.
Are drivers really paid to drive the trains along this magnificent routes?😉
@alwayslight2658 Well said.
Another great video - I really like this channel ! Used to to travel a lot with the traditional sliding windows through Italy & Slovenia . Cabview is a nice way to rediscover these journeys .
Could you please add the train number to the info ? I discovered you did this for another film (between Friaul and Austria - with the Railjet Gondoliere?)
This train here seems to be rather special one ... ?According the limited stopping an Intercity(usually vmax200) dawling with an E402B along a linea alta velocità ...
Ti ringrazio e a pesto.
@fortunatocaruso yes. I had filmed this part, but I could not use the footages because of the mosquito on the lenses. I have plans to film it again.

Amazing video. One question ..the rolling stock is in" b" rank? Thank you and greetings from Italy.
@davidevollaro9285 I believe so.
Anyway nice video, as usual.

Just a question. The sounds are in Sync with the video or no?
@edymattia8807 they are sync.
Nice video as always, but what was the stop at Pontecagnano about? Ok, the signal was red, but even when it turned green, the train didn't move for a while. Or was it simply driver's courtesy to make the guy taking picture happy?
@maxart3392 I am not sure what happened at Pontecagnano. Thank you for your feedback.
Perhaps he was ahead of the timetable.i thought that when he crawled into the platform.

Is the brick bridge visible at 38:42 an old railroad track? Part of the bridge has collapsed. It is very disappointing.
Thank you for your wonderful video!👍🥰
Yes, looks like an old railway line routing. I would not say it has collapsed, but that it has been dismantled probably for the expansion of the road below.
@@ZvonimirZelenika What a pity for the beautiful bridge. Thank you very much!
My impression was, as it is brick, that it was a Roman aqueduct.
Yes, it's the old viaduct replaced by the existing in the 1960's. I'ts really a pity it has collapsed. They coul'd have preserved it as cycle track e/o footpath e/o vintage railway but at those times nobody cared about such things. Nowadays, in Italy, every dismissed railway line must by law be preserved for future reopening or reuse as a touristic infrastructure of some kind.
@@luciliocogato9746 I feel the same way too. I think it's a wonderful bridge as valuable as the aqueduct.
I hope that another similar bridge nearby will remain in perfect shape forever.

@Raphaël DELANNOY it is not the high speed train.
@@raphaeldelannoy4805 in Italy high speed lines are name AV/AC high speed/high capacity, they are also employed to increase capacity to decongestion standard speed lines often crowded with commuter/regional and freight traffic, it is quite common in Italy that even non high speed medium to long distance trains such as IC and 'regionale veloce' are in some tracts routed to HS lines in the periods when traffic conditions allow it. I'm not sure whether the same applies to freight trains too, at night for instance.
