  • The only known OTIS elevator with "3200" buttons in Bali has recently been replaced despite it wasn't too old. I wasn't expecting this when I came here again. At least it's now an OTIS GeN2 and it looks much nicer than the old one. While I didn't check the top floor since there's an office, I can safely say this is a GeN2 due to the motor noise.
The building was completed in 1982 so obviously its elevator has been replaced at least twice by now. One old newspaper article claimed that this building was the first in Denpasar with an elevator, however this is inaccurate as the first known building in the entire city with an elevator is the Grand Inna Bali Beach Hotel (1966, currently being renovated).

At least its not replaced into a generic!

Wonder why someone would claim that this is the 1st Bali building with an elevator, overlooking the 1966 Inna Bali Beach. Perhaps the newspaper meant the first bank building in Bali to have an elevator? But even so, I still doubt it.
Gardena Jogja also had the audacity to claim that their store is the first store in Jogja to have an escalator, forgetting that Ramai Mall already has it a year prior to their claimed year (1983).

They probably didn't recognize Sanur to be part of Denpasar as a whole.

Wait, so this is a Gen2 Premier? What's the difference between this and Gen2-Regen?

I believe so, since the GeN2-Regen is no longer listed on OTIS's Indonesian website and what they're selling now is the Gen2 Premier (which had already been sold here back in the 2000s but got discontinued due to the GeN2-Regen). While this was my first time riding a brand new Gen2 Premier, I'd say the only difference between this and the GeN2-Regen is probably the logic. Notice how the arrow on the floor indicator changes direction as soon as the chime rings. GeN2-Regen would only flip its arrow when the door starts opening.

@@idl3k_elev Oh, I see. I never checked OTIS' official website so I didn't know Gen2-Regen was already unlisted. Thanks for the info.
The logic of this Gen2 makes me wonder though, whether if YIA Airport's elevators are also Premier. The arrows still behave like Gen2-Regen, but the chime rings as soon as the indicator displays the destination.

YIA Airport's Gen2 are still GeN2-Regen because the non-scenic elevators have 2000 kg capacity whereas Gen2 Premier's maximum capacity is only 1600 kg so they're definitely GeN2-Regen, probably one of the last ones installed before the model was discontinued.
I have a video of YIA Airport elevators given from someone else which is to be published at a later date.

@@idl3k_elev Ah okay, thanks for the information again.

No problem. Now I really want to see more Gen2 Premier like this one to see if my speculation about the arrow behavior is accurate or not. This is probably one of the very first all new Gen2 Premier elevators that have been discovered in Indonesia so far.
The glass elevators at some of the newly revitalized TransJakarta BRT shelters will be quite interesting though. Who knows they might be Gen2 Premier as well.

Kind of pointless replacement, this. It's interesting how the 3200 was, though; the one I found in Australia seems to be a 300VFE in disguise, sharing its much better mechanical equipment and VF whine.

To me the old one here seems to be the cheaper variant of the China made Gen2, probably Gen2 Comfort. I think New Zealand might have a couple of similar elevators albeit with different buttons.
