I never saw trailers for this game, I just got it randomly for Christmas one year. I was absolutely perplexed when I first saw it. Needless to say, though, it ranks in my top 5 presents ever in hindsight.

To be fair it’s not even a crossover, Sora and the rest of the non-Disney gang are original, the only FF characters were bit parts. And they aren’t even that now.
@@muska34 The only Original characters in Kingdom Hearts 1 are Sora, Riku, Kairi, and Ansem. LITERALLY every other character is Disney or Final Fantasy. And it was an EPIC crossover

I think nomura have a general ideia of where he wants to go, but not how, and the how is where he gets lost and make the mess we are used too. But I personally like it

Damn can yall let the man live? KH1s combat isnt the best but it's certainly serviceable and laid a lot of groundwork for what was to come. This isn't The Witcher 1

What I like about KH1 is that there was so much mystery and mysticism. So many things like the Keyblade, Heartless, darkness and Kingdom Hearts itself were seemingly beyond understanding, almost like playing a mythical tale from a distant world.
Now everything can be summed up to either hearts, light or darkness but damn if I don't love this franchise.

KH1 is prob not my favorite KH game but the story, albeit mediocre, is deeper than you might imagine. I feel like the story of KH1 is a story of growing up. Sora, Riku, and Kairi wanted to get on a raft and sail the many worlds that await them. Kids always want to explore, figure stuff out that intrigues them. While Sora is separated from his aforementioned friends, he teams up with Donald and Goofy. Although they had a rocky relationship at the start, Sora started to warm up to the two, to the point Sora would prioritize the two over his old two friends. This could imply that even after separating from some of your friends, there will always be new friends to interact with. At the end of the game, we have the 3 island friends, despite the many backflips they had to do just to get a glimpse of each other, separate with smiles on their faces knowing they would reunite eventually, like saying everything is gonna be okay. And looking back at the lyrics of Simple and Clean, it holds more weight to my story theory thing.
Thanks for all who read this lame comment, just wanna let people know how I felt about KH1. not the best gameplay and the characters are lackluster compared to other games in the series, but the story is just a little deeper than you remember :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

@@soul6733 Yeah pretty much he might've planned as far as Kingdom hearts 2 but Nomura has a rule of cool approach to story telling. Introducing some element he finds really interesting and then pieces it together later. For the most part he does it pretty well and makes it all flow together, so how much someone enjoys the story really comes down to whether they can handle it being told that way.
So bizarre how the ending words are sooo foreshadowing to events and quotes of 3!

My grandma and grandpa had Kingdom Hearts 1 and a ps2 at home, best sleep over ive ever had tbh playing that game as a kid. I literally begged her to lend me the game and she gave it to me to keep it. One of the best days ever lol.

It's 25th December 2002, I'm 11 years old. I've just opened Kingdom Hearts for the PS2, very intrigued by the concept of a Disney x FF game, unaware yet how much of a profound impact this franchise would have on my entire life. Looking back on the first trailers for this game really make me think how much this game meant to me growing up - some of my most poignant memories are of the Kingdom Hearts franchise, and it's hard to believe that I was only eleven years old when I first discovered the series, it doesn't feel that old.
This made me cry so badly like the good old times where I use to play this game all night then be tired to go to school ughhhhh nostalgia to it finest

You know, I was sort of just given these games to play when I was little and didn’t know how to use the internet and such. I never even suspected that there was a trailer for this until I saw it today. We’ve come a REALLY long way, haven’t we?
So many weird differences from the final game. Donald and goofy in regular outfits, old facial graphics, explorable disney castle, cutscnes that look completely different, etc.
I miss having early trailers like this, games now only show specific parts that are mostly complete and where nothing changes. Twilight Princess, mario sumshine, wind waker, ocarina of time, these games could've been so different.
