Thanks for posting! I've got two walls up and a bunch of stuff printed. I'm just working on how best to get the things on the wall. Posting more videos with that content would be awesome to give folks ideas on how they can best use their multiboard! Subbed and looking forward to more content. Love the Nerd Cave!
Will do! You should join the Discord channel and post in the "Show and Tell" category if you haven't already. Would love to see your boards!
Love this! And such a fantastic explainer, tutorial video. I did not know that there's already so many mods/hacks additional accessories already, I will need to give these a try too.
Awesome job, the Nerd Cave now has a fantastically useful and great looking addition.
Thanks MT! I really like your setup so far! It's pretty epic!
Loved watching you put this together! I'm mid print on my panels right now and got so many ideas watching this! Thanks for sharing!
Glad it was helpful Ken!
I just found your channel and am sad you don't make videos often. You did a great job demonstrating! Thank you bunches.
More to come! Thanks so much!!
I saw this last week and was empressed. Your storage wall came out GREAT!! Thank you for your video.
Thanks for watching! I’m really liking the wall so far!
Awesome! I'm two rolls of filament deep printing my first Multiboard project. Thanks for the tips and new designs!
Glad I can help! Thanks for watching!
this workshop/nerdcave is beautiful! so clean and organized..
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
Great video man! Thank you!
You bet! Thanks for watching!
Multiboard is the reason I bought my FDM printer! Hopefully have it by the end of this week! I'll be printing Multiboard all weekend!
Thanks for showcasing your build!
Awesome!! I think you'll really enjoy it! (both the 3d printer AND Multiboard!)
@@CyberBobCity hope so, went with the Elegoo Neptune 4 Plus, I really wanted the Bambu A1 but I wanted a bigger build size, so settled on the Neptune Plus. Hoping I don't regret that purchase!
@@DJ_Blaker I am a bit partial to Bambu Lab printers lately. I just love the AMS. I can have 4 colors ready to go without having to switch anything out manually. I don’t even use it much for multicolor prints right now.
@@CyberBobCity Ya that Bambu AMS is damn slick! And I heard Bambu is great right out of the box!
First! 💥
I loved seeing your Multiboard come to life! Can't wait to see where it takes you!
p.s. Just know the Multiboard does have a french cleat mount 😉
Thanks so much Jonathan! I can't believe all the work you put into designing all these pieces but I'm excited to use them all! Thanks again and thanks for commenting!!
Oh I did see that and I may make some panels that hang on French cleats out in may workshop!
He actually already has "Wall Support Pegs" that can be used where you want them to screw into the back of the panels to help keep them from flexing much. I was unaware of them when I made this video. @@autogyro333
I never use those wall anchors because sometimes the screw grabs and makes them rotate in their hole or even pull out of the hole in some cases. There is another, much better type of drywall anchor that has a self-tapping tip and very coarse threads. You screw it into the drywall directly, no pilot holes required (although it's not a bad idea to make a small one beforehand). The biggest advantage of this type of anchor is that it cannot come loose so you can tighten the screws into them as tight as you want. You can find those at any home improvement store.
I usually use those kind but thought I'd try something now. I'm wondering now if my screws just aren't long enough. Going to try a test soon. Either way my wall feels very solid. Thanks for watching the video!
Just in the middle of rebuilding the lab and starting projects back up, came accross Jonathan and his work, it seems like a great solution. Now I have 4 heavily modified ender 3's printing in the background :)
Nice!! Would love to see it once you get it on the wall!
Very good video! It helped me choose between Honeycomb and this onee!🎉🎉🎉👀
Glad it was helpful!
Great video and explanation of the system Bob! I just finished printing 40 tiles to do a wall and am thinking of making a video of it as well. You did such a good job explaining, maybe there isn't a need.
Go for it! Make sure you post a link so I can watch it!
Looks great I'm about to start printing mine
Have fun!
Looks great!
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
I have been watching this project, thanks for a good user review. Not sure if I want to commit to it, so was good to see what you did.
Thank you! I hadn't seen a build video on it and it was just the right time for me to complete this project so I thought I would record what I was doing and what pieces I used to help anyone else just getting started.
I'm sure we'll see plenty more videos about Multiboard very soon! Can't wait for all the content!
Thanks for watching!
Awesome I can't wait to get mine going... i think I will be printing for weeks to get all the parts ready
Right on! Have fun getting your wall started!
Glad to see you back. Love the new video. 🤞🏻more vids this year?
Yes definitely! Thanks for watching!
nice to see someone start, I too think its the best hex organizer yet (with peg, push, thread attachments). So far i only have one problem and that is how to get (your grey connectors) the quad front face connectors...to back out, if i need to change. I like the drill holders, btw.
Yes, I broke a few removing them. I think he is going to quad fronts you can put bolts through which would make them easily removable, but then you're tying up a good amount of octagons with bolts. So we'll see how it goes.
You can easily make custom size tiles (panels) just by importing several into PrusaSlicer and offset them relative to each other in one direction or the other by multiples of 25 mm. So you can have an 8x6, 10x4, 6x12, etc. Whatever size you want. Then just make sure to highlight all of the tiles and right-click "Merge" before slicing.
I was happy to support Jonathan for a while since he put so much time into this cool system!
@@CyberBobCity I agree. Supporting him for all his work is a good idea.
I got my 8th out of twelve panels going on the printer right now. Looking forward to installing this weekend
Nice!! Hope it goes well and you love it!
I plan to multi my whole damn house.
Do it!! Thanks for watching!
I would, but my wife would kill me. I'll likely only be able to set it up in the garage.
Thanks for sharing this. I just got a storage building I’m turning into my nerd cave for 3D printing, music production and electronics. Maybe we’re brothers from another mother? 🤔🙂 so I had already printed a bunch of the multiboard parts but I was a bit confused about how to use them. This helped an awful lot. Thanks.
Maybe we are!
He does have some newer pieces released after I made this video you might want to check out. I haven't switched mine out but I might just to see how they work. Apparently the new quad snaps can be removed with a tool.
Thanks for watching! Good luck with the storage building! Sounds like an awesome project!
Am I the only one who looked at the place he got the printer rack and with a pirate voice thought "me nards!!"?
Probably not!!
Hi! Awesome video, would it be much to ask for the Bosch 12V mount as an STL? Thanks!
Sure! Email me at bob@cyberbobcity.com and I can send it to you.
He does have a couple files that you could have used. There's small connectors to hold the back pieces together in sets of 4 and there's wall supports that he suggests to use on larger panels so they don't flex as much
The connectors seemed kind of fidgety. I did just learn about the Wall Support Pegs and those would have been useful.
Thanks for watching!
@@CyberBobCity they did seem like they wouldnt be helpful but mine pressed and held into the groves really well and I feel it gives it a bit more rigidity. I did a large 5 panel by 8 panel. Definitely enjoying this system over just the honeycomb
Nice! If you are in the Discord channel you show post some pics of your setup in "Show and Tell"!
Great video!!! Can you share the link to the wall shelves above your multiboard?
They are IKEA shelves that have been discontinued.
Printing a 3x3 mini just to see how it works and if I'll make use of the thing but it looks really promising.
Nice!
Hey cool video. im in the proces of making a hobby room and i'm definitely gonna get this for my wall. quick question what are the lights you got hanging from your shelf shining on your multiboard? they look nice
Thank you! If you are talking about the colored ones, they are the Govee RGBIC Light Bars. Higher up I also have some under cabinet lighting that is just white that I picked up from Amazon. The Govee lights weren't really bright enough to use ask task lighting.
Good luck with your build!
Good video. Those bottle holders look awesome. hah
Thanks much Nerlin! Those bottle holders are awesome! The link is in the description if you'd like to download them.... 😉
Very cool video. Where did you get those caps for the top of the Performax End Frames? Do they sell them at Menards?
I designed them real quick and 3d printed them. If you email me I can send you the STL. I haven't had a chance to post it on printables.com yet. Just email me at bob@cyberbobcity.com.
This is great. I'll get started printing tonight. Not directly related to this project, but what are the shelves and buckets that you've got up above your multiboard? You're storage solutions are top notch.
Don't get me started on that! I have the Algot system from Ikea which they discontinued in 2020 so I can no longer get shelves for it. So pissed. I wanted that thinner bottom shelf to go all the way across and I think I had one but I can't find it. I should have bought extra of everything so I could have some flexibility if I wanted to move things around.
The bins though are all Ikea. Then I bought these plastic label holders from Amazon and then I just printed labels no regular paper that go inside of them to label everything. So I like those... Just wish they would stick with an organizational storage system....
@@CyberBobCity thanks for the info, and that’s really unfortunate. I guess I’ll go hunting for something similar.
Ikea currently has their BOAXEL shelves but when I saw them in the store they didn't seem as high quality.
I mean I've seen a few videos on this and it seems like it has some perks, a big one being the ability to run cables behind it like you said. But to me it seems like HSW with more steps and complications.
It can be exactly like HSW if you want it to be. I do think the panels are stronger and take less filament, so that is a plus. It's great we have a variety of options though at our disposal. Both HSW and Multiboard are cool systems.
Cool video mate. Any chance you could do a video on splicing multiboard mating parts onto honeycomb accesories in Tinkercad?
Yes, that could be a good video. I'll keep that in mind!
Does that Menard's shelving require any hardware? What are those caps on the side rails, did you just 3d print caps?
It comes with a a couple bolts to bolt on the the brace going from the front to back in the middle of the shelf. Yes, designed and printed some quick caps. I've been meaning to get them up on Printables if you want to print them.
Great video, were you able to stack print the multiboard parts?
My Bambu P1S's print fast, I didn't see the need to mess with the stacked prints, especially since I heard the surface finish isn't as nice.
Thanks for watching!
Man this must have taken a month to print!
Looks good though.
No not really. My two P1S's were pumping them out! Thanks for watching!
Ive been telling my wife how 2 printers is better than 1. Thats the key.
100% true
It takes my printer nearly 3 days to print a stack of 4x 9x9 sheets lol. Went with 4 x 6x6 sheets, about 19 hours on that. Printing great it PETG though!
Nice work! Thanks for watching!
Awesome. How many kg of filament did this take?
Maybe 1.75kg in total. I don't have an exact measurement. It didn't seem like a lot though.
@@CyberBobCity wow that is impressive
what would you use the threaded "ped" for?
I have used many threaded items yet honestly. Mostly the snaps and the pegboard hooks.
Honest question; Do you think maybe the amount of wall anchors is overkill? Given the multiboard is plastic (strong, but still plastic) there's a limit to the weight that can be hung. It seems like the large sections (8x8x4's) could be just as good with one anchor in each corner. I could be totally wrong though, thoughts?
I think there are some people putting anchors in all 4 quadrants of the quad snap. I didn't think that was necessary.
For this to feel ridged, I think I used the right amount of wall anchors, and 8 of the screws ended up going into studs. While I don't think I'm going to hang anything super heavy on this, the board seems strong.
Nice I started pronting my parts last week. I'm in such a hurry to get stuff printed Ive got a bunch of multi grid and multi board going at the same time. Are you planning on sharing your remixed holders? Subscribing for future content
Awesome! Email me at bob@cyberbobcity.com and I’ll send them to you.
Nice build 😎 Do you have an approximate cost for that project? Amount of filament used? Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! It was about 2 rolls of filament for the tiles and not even 1 roll for the white support pieces and the gray snaps on top. So I would say less than $60 in filament and less than $20 in anchors and countersunk screws. The tool holders I made were not much filament at all.
What sized flat head m screws did you use?
#8, 1 1/4" long. But I think they might be too short which could be the issue I was having with the anchors... I'm going to try a test soon.
Do you have the link to upper shelving?
Unfortunately the shelves I have are a discontinued model from Ikea. Their current model is the BOAXEL system.
For the cutout supports and making the board more stiff even when offset, I guess you could use the threaded inserts with just the right length to touch and sit on the wall without having to drill new holes. I haven't tried this, so it's just a theory, but I'm in exactly the same position you were where I started the HSW project and then this came along. I love how the models for this system exploded, but I'm not a fan that the official measurements aren't public, but I guess it's only a matter of time.
P.S. I tested this on a small scale, it seems like it would work, but there aren't any bolts at the moment that would be the right length for this.
Yes! They are called “Wall Support Pegs” which I was unaware of until another commenter posted about them. I might add them to my build in a future video. Seems like they would work perfect for that.
Thanks for watching!
How long did it take to print all that? I have an X1C and just printing a single 9x9 multiboard tile is going to take 5 hours :(
They are all 8 x 8 tiles and took about 3 hours each. It really didn't seem to bad.
@@CyberBobCity You mentioned something about the drywall anchors you used not being very secure, do you have a recommendation on which anchors to use? I mounted an IKEA floating shelf recently and had issues with it feeling 'secure' too.
Someone needs to do a video comparing the strength of these different boards to truly test which one wins.. I’ve got my money on the multi board
That would be a good Project Farm video! But he only does tools.
Do you happen to have the build list for your performax printer rack/shelf. Love the setup and would like to replicate? Thanks
I’ll make sure I add that to the description tomorrow with links to the Menards site!
@@CyberBobCity awesome, and would you mind providing your shelving system information as your space pretty much looks like mine and your setup is amazing.
Enjoy your day
@@guybaryo3244 well the shelving above my workbench is IKEA Algot which they discontinued. They have a newer system called Boaxel but I’m not sure how it compares. I did use all IKEA bins on my shelves.
I've now posted the pieces i used on my rack and their cost. Please check the description.
@@CyberBobCity awesome! This is very much appreciated. I got the shelves and baskets per your recommendation and have them installed today. Enjoy your weekend!
Why not use the quad part A?
They weren’t available when I built this.
I just started printing this as well, very neat project. My only real wish was that he designed the system to have the the standard 1 inch Pegboard hole spacing. It's designed for 25mm spacing where standard would be 25.4, so super close but over the whole wall it adds up. I'm printing it sized up by 1.6 percent to see if it will still work and get me to the standard spacing.
Fingers crossed!
Interesting! I’m curious to see if it works out for you. Good luck!
Very interesting point. I am printing a 9-foot wide (by 4 -foot-high) wall right now. I don't plan to use a ton of printed accessories, as I just bought a 278-piece, metal accessory pack, and also several shelves and baskets. None span more than 12 holes (horizontally). It will be interesting to see if I find any issues. BTW, I decided to use this over a standard metal 1-in (25.4 mm) pegboard, because I need to mount all my home automation equipment and Wi-fi/routers/switches. Lots of wires, and this will organize/hide them. IMO, this is the true value of this system. Of course, I plan to hang a ton of 3D printer tools also. I am a huge fan of this design. And CyberBob... your video is what inspired me ...Thanks!
@@tobyvorpahl4279Good luck on your setup Toby! Thanks for watching! 😊
It's necessary all that hole on the wall?
Yes, if you want them to be pretty strong.
Well, I get that this is was posted 4+ months ago but, you said something I'm trying to learn and I've only had access to a 3d printer for a month so I hope you can help me.
Taking 2 designs, removing what you don't want and putting them together is something I'm having issues with and I'm not sure if it's me or the program I'm using.
I have Shapr3d and I can import an STL but, I'm not able to modify it, or anything.
Please help and thanks.
Hi. What you want is to download the snap ".step" file and that you can import into Shapr3d. Just search the Google for "Snaps - STEP Multiboard Remixing Files" and you'll be able to download that file, import it into Shapr3d, and add additional bodies next to it which you can then export as one piece.
Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
yo, multiboard screwed into a plywood sheet HANGING ON FRENCH CLEATS
You don’t even need the plywood sheet! Multiboard also has mounts to hang it off French cleats!
Could you share a link to the rack?
Which rack are you wanting? The filament racks below my workbench? They are the $10 Ikea Vesken carts. They really work awesome for being so cheap.
I believe you say they're performx? The shelving you use for holding the printers
Oh, duh. They are the Performax shelving from Menards. Give me a few mins and I'll update the video description with links to the exact pieces I used. Thanks for clarify, I was brain dead.
@@CyberBobCity thanks! 🙌
I've now posted the pieces i used on my rack and their cost. Please check the description.
If the screws for your drywall anchors won't give you a solid mount, you've probably drilled the hole too big, or you may have stripped the plastic anchor.
The anchors came with the drill bit to use. I think maybe my countersunk screws I switched out might not be long enough. I'm going to try a test on a spare cutoff of drywall.
4:43 you mean countersunk screws, the others are button head. flathead refers to the type of screwdriver needed
yep, you're right.
I don't like how the board flexes when inserting tools into it! Btw what is the actual benfit of this over the Honeycom design?
I've since been told of some "Wall Support Pegs" you can install which can help with that. But in daily practice it's no big deal.
The honeycomb wall only has snaps, this can use pegboard accessories, snaps, or threaded bolts because both the octogons and the smaller peg board holes are threaded...
Those anchors you got are going to fail.
What you need to use are called toggle bolt anchors.
Id reinforce the securemnt by putting a few stud screws in as well, even if it doesnt look uniform.... function over style.
I honestly don't think I will ever have a problem. There are so many anchors and the amount of weight I will put on this is pretty minimal. I have used toggle bolt anchors in the past and they do work well.
I do have screws into studs in 8 holes though. I could always add more if needed.
What you call the 'core' type is called the corner tyle on their page lol.. so confusing. I was like this makes no sense
It’s really not too bad. There are 3 types. Core tiles, side tiles, and a corner tile. Most of your board will be core tiles starting from the bottom left and working up and to the right. The top and right edges will be side tiles, and your final tile in the top right corner will be the one corner tile. You should only need one of those corner tiles.
There is a quad connector to use in place of the 2 double connector for the wall mount. It joins 4 tiles at the corner.
I am using the Quad Part B connectors, but I don't think the piece you are talking about is used "in place" of the Part A dual connectors. I think it just joins two of them in the right orientation.... I think. Jonathan didn't use them in his getting started video so I didn't see the need for them here. But I'm just going by the information I could glean from the Multiboard site and all the videos. If I am understanding you.
Thanks much fort the comment!
@@CyberBobCity Thanks for the reply! 🙂 I’m hoping I know what I’m talking about because I’m printing a whack of them right now 🤣👍👍
@@mikestewart4752 please send me a photo of them. bob@cyberbobcity.com
@@CyberBobCity 👍 When I get home from work!
@@mikestewart4752 Jonathan never made them because he said that it actually reduces the strength. Although there are a couple community made ones. I personally used a quad one that I shaped up in tinkercad but I don't think either way is wrong.
*countersunk wood screws*
yep, you're right.
I think I rather screw it to a plywood boars and attach the plywood board to the wall. It's too much drilling into my stone wall.
For a stone wall, definitely. Thanks for watching!
Tried it. Wasn't good. Staying with my HSW and Gridfinity. Maybe work on standardizing to what is already out there? Instead of making more waste.
I like the variety of connectors you can use. I don't see me using his gridfinity alternative though. But I'm loving my wall so far! Thanks for watching.
Rather than having so many wall mounts, I glue my honeycomb wall pieces together and then the number of actual places where this is attached to the wall is less and can be more strategically placed
This is a little different since it’s mounted off the wall, but glueing them together would definitely make them stronger.
That's really smart! Also looks way better
I hate that its no longer Hex... Also that there is a paywall on stacked print files.
you can make your own stacked print files its just a 0.2 gap on z axis between panels.Just duplicate , move and align the duplicated part to the same exact spot and rotation as the first part then rise the duplicated part 0.2 above the first part.
The hex wall isn’t going away… you are free to keep using it! Lots of options for everyone!
I'm so Jealous, so many people have access to Menards (and/or Microcenter for the matter as well). Maybe that's why Nobody likes CT... I say that because that shelf system makes sense, where we are slave to the flat packs from the various other big box stores.
Boy do I love Microcenter!
HSW is under creative commons, superior
Thanks for watching!
@peenworm HSW is trash you’re just regretful that you printed it.. 😂 Your username makes sense though
Multiboard is under a license that's basically CC Attribution Non-Commercial International v4 but allows commercial options if you support the creators. I don't know nearly enough to argue the philosophy behind something like that, I know something like FSF's licenses allow commercial selling as long as it's still released as FOSS. It seems that Johnathan's alternative license follows the spirit of "you can sell an open sourced project" but with the upfront financial requirements, so maybe it's not so much in that spirit.
If you haven't even tried Honeycomb Wall how can you even make it a fair comparison. ? Nothing like selling your soul to the devil for views ;)
I made a honeycomb wall in my daughter's room. I definitely like Multiboard better for the versatility. Thanks for watching!
all of that plastic and hours of printing....to hang a few tools.
Two things I love! 3d printing and tool organization!
He stole my design, He took my ideas and HCW and made this frankenstein version. My Gridfinity idea you literally took the same design I made for my Screw Wall. Not cool bro, he should come up with his own ideas not steaing others. Me designs are clearly made before yours. NOT COOL I will be looking into options on myside...
Ngl this doesn't really look anything like the one on your channel...
Its the idea of adding screws to a storage wall, I started this and he just took the HCW and added them. Its not nearly as strong and its a rip off of the HCW at least my idea is original.@@SolusAmare
bruh you think you invented 3D printed screws? I've been using them in my designs going back years
@AllThingsSTL do you have a patent on it?? Didn't think so. You have 100 subs. I doubt anyone is trolling your channel stealing designs.
What's not cool is your accusations. This is a community built around open source design improvements.
You seriously need to chill.
@@polycrystallinecandy I know I didn't invent them, I was the first to build them into a storage wall, then the "thread board" came out and not this multi board.. Its just annoying is all. I did all this work and they are getting paid for it.

the only problem for me is that on my ender 3 pro it takes like 5 and a half hour to print one 6x6 tile 🥲
I got Klipper setup on my Ender 3 Pro so I could start using input shaping. Don't have the kinks worked out yet but I bet it will be able to print faster now.
