Axford 3rd doubling back from the short course is audacious but I love it. Also enjoy the Barnicoat shout 🤝
Plan is to keep these episodes to 20 mins so we will be mainly focused on TDP/Callums racing. Hence only the snr mens team predictions.
The short course mixed relay and Womens trial races are also looking spicy so please drop you predictions for those aswell!

Any opinions on Nick Bester or coaches that charge £200 a month for non-custom training plans? Seems predatory.
it ranks somewhere between shoplifting and murder but I can’t quite work out where
@@the.distanceproject keep up the good work, love the content and the journey
@@kriz1234swear this Charlie guy used to be a part of the Bester brigade no? 🤔
Really nice to see some content from driven, young athletes that isn't just top 5/10 lists.
Your Liverpool cross country video was awesome.
Thank you 💪🏼
Can't wait for the "5 tips to pb your next parkrun" video 😂
1. Do a warmup
“Copy these drills I am doing totally wrong but don’t worry this freeze roll will take 43 minutes off your PB time and you won’t be tired”
I would absolutely watch those stories of other runners. Love the idea. Also like this unvarnished format, and if you don't have to edit we get more content 😊🎉
Glad you’re on board! We have loads of ideas it’s just a case of 1) logistically making them happen 2) getting people to agree to them 3) financing them … more to come soon!
The future plan for TDP sounds so good, very exciting! Good luck at nationals...rooting for you!
thanks!
Love it boys… raw uncut and exciting… roll on 2024 🎉
Cheers Andy!
Enjoy the unedited . Stories of all runners is a great angle . I’m trying to run the 2024 LM having third degree heart block and pacemaker fitted and two recent heart attacks. Previously 4:00 minute miler . When running has been your identity all your life psychology is a key dynamic.
good luck with the marathon!
Liverpool Top 6 based on recent form:

Very bold!
Excellent. Really enjoyed this. This is just on a different level to other running content. It's focused, knowledgeable, authentic, well-produced, and telling a story. Definitely the route to long term engagement.
Thanks for the great feedback, means a lot to know we’re coming across how we hoped!
Cannot wait for all this stuff. Keep it up fellas
Thanks man 🤝
Good luck for the weekend and keep the videos coming! 📽 👍
Thanks 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Love this it's great content
Cheers 🫡
Great work chaps. Never put out a less than great video
The highest praise, thanks mate
Quality! Looking forward to watching your stories going into next year.. 👏
🤝🤝
Great work guys 👍🏼
Cheers Geoff!
Love this idea. Love y'all's work so far on The Distance Project. I do enjoy watching race-related events, too. In the UK y'all have a ton of Club-related events, too. I look forward to seeing what you come up with and do!
Thank you! For sure, we want to do plenty of international stuff but do have a passion for putting UK sport on the map 📍
You guys have a clear vision, and I like it.
Cheers 🤝🤝
Maybe local XC competitions building stories if they're competitive. Also the fun stories of resilience like the U15 guy on Saturday XC who was minutes behind the next person but slogged it out. Also the splash is good for a laugh.
Honestly, it’s hard to balance what is a valuable story & what will also be interesting to the audience. Filming with under-18’s / kids is a little more difficult for our style, both logistically and content wise. But something we’ll keep in mind!
You, my friend, and Charlie, are on the way to success. Love the ideas. Thoroughly enjoyed
Thanks mate!
It's amazing to hear some of the decision making a pro athlete does (or has to do).
Thanks! It sounds complicated & can be at times… but it’s pretty simple really: pick a race and get as fit as possible!
Insightful content chaps, looking forward to the next one. Just needs a cheeky Soar discount code 😊🏃♂️
Haha we’ll work on a sponsor!
Very courageous of you to be so upfront about your goals for the next few months. All runners have their own goals but very few of us "go public" with them - because of not wanting to fail in public if they don't achieve them. Even I - a pensioner, currently unable to run a step because of injury - have things I want to do in 2024 but I'll never talk openly about them!
Not necessarily going to be a mud bath in Liverpool. Currently quite warm and sunny up here in the north west!
Nice to hear the positive weather report!! I’m not scared of saying what we’re going to do, if we fall flat on our face so be it.. it’s only running/CZcams!
I would massively enjoy a video before the euro xc trials going through your predictions and who to watch out for.
Total Running Productions channel does this often before big global races and it really works because it gets me hyped for watching it live myself. Doesn't mean I won't then watch your video covering, in fact it means I'm more likely to watch it as I want to see your opinions on how it went.
I’ll be honest we won’t be doing this BUT we have a video that covers the event which runs down all of the competitors to look out for, the race action itself & reactions after. It should be live next Wednesday 🤝
Bringing out other athletes sounds great 🔥
🤝🤝
Sounds good, be great to see it, commenting for your algorithm partly
Thanks boss
Is Tom Evans doing any shorter races? I’d like to see how he approaches a 10k XC
Looking forward to watching the channel grow. Top quality stuff
He’s entered but was supposed to be doing an ultra in SA before the awful incident that happened the other day to him (probably best to Google that). Doubt he’s up to racing but wishing him a speedy recovery 👍🏼
Love this new format fellas! You’ve got me so stoked for Liverpool that I might just have to drive over from beautiful Lancashire 🌹 to spectate.
Here’s my top 6 senior men (admittedly I’m biased as Ellis is my coach 👀):
1. Jack Rowe
2. Zak Mahamed
3. Marc Scott
4. Ellis Cross
5. Rory Leonard
6. Callum or Jack Gray in a sprint finish but I can’t call it…
Marc Scott doesn’t seem (yet) to be on the startlist… aside from that - love those picks 👏🏼👏🏼
@@the.distanceproject Just seen him post a reel doing laps of Albert Dock with his top off. It was either there or The Palm in Dubai 😂
See you at Liverpool mate, it’s a 3 minute walk from mine haha. Best of luck and I’ll just try not to get lapped by you 😂
Good luck & enjoy 🤝
Great idea for a video. Enjoying the content. Stop slamming those mugs down next to the microphone, as it’s really loud for everyone wearing headphones!! Also maybe you need a better mug altogether Callum? 😂
Thanks for the feedback, will keep that in mind! Mug will be rotated to keep everyone happy!
BU launch pad is calling your name mate Valentine mile would be MAD
Ran there in 2021 a few times and loved it, hopefully be back in February!
Any tips on keeping fitness/volume up while racing regularly? Personally get got myself in PB shape for the Half and now want to smash out some 5Ks and 10Ks before the year ends.
Don’t dial things back too much would be my advice! If you drop intensity every single week you race, your progress will slow quickly. I’d keep up good volume Mon-Wed including an intense session on the Tuesday. Then easy Thur-Fri-Sat before your Sunday races 👍🏼
Would love one of these on your opinion of the ncaa?
We might be able to build something like that in👍🏼
Rowe, Crowe, Barnicoat, Mahamad, Leonard, Cross
Top class 6 that 👏🏼

Not yet but one day!
You think younger runners should start a channel to get people interested in there story for them to make it easier for them to go pro?
Yes & no. Nothing will get you a true pro contract other than performances - so that should ALWAYS be the priority. There’s no shortcuts. But once you’re at that level, having a social presence can help maximise the value of your contracts / deals for sure.
@@the.distanceproject Ofc, training should come first. You do need to start somewhere to build a presence, and it could give you the opportunity that others might not get that are better. That's unfortunately what happens sometimes
Yep it can set you aside from people of the same ability, but not those that are much much better than you. Influencer world vs. Pro athlete world is different. I’d say focus on getting to a good level first & then kick on with your marketing!
@@the.distanceproject I think I will start now when I have a decent level and have fun with it on the side see if it's something for me and a long document. And to get people along the way to show them how I keep grinding and slowly get better no?
Let me preface this by saying I am a big fan, and enjoy your content. I might be completely alone in thinking this but two things that appeal to me is, firstly, a clear content framework. For example, training + race series. The multiple ‘versions’ of content - e.g., race then behind the scenes then talking head then story of a different runner then shoe review - becomes confusing. Secondly, content creators talking about what they are trying to do rather than doing it is not interesting.
What jumps out to me as a super basic fan of this stuff is that you do series and race content better than anyone. The closing the gap series was really enjoyable. You might need to do videos like this in order to do more like that - I’m ignorant to the process. However, I’d love to see this channel as purely closing the gap like storytelling, rather than a more scatter gun approach that other channels take. Ultimately this comment is a waste of time because I am bought in and going to support whatever you do, I just thought I’d shout this into the ether.
Not a waste of time at all - we actually read all the comments and try to take stuff on board if we think it’s useful! A few thoughts we had on this:
1. Our long-term passion is in both “series” (like CTG) and “feature-length” (like documentary style). These things are both expensive and time consuming… moreso because you spend months making something and you don’t know how much ££ or engagement you’ll get back.
2. ^^Because of the above…. we make content like this in the hope we can grow the reach of the channel, get help from viewers that see what we are doing & keep everyone engaged with what we are doing.
3. It’s harder than you think to find a series that just works! We got lucky that I can talk for England and Charlie has loads of footage to edit, plus I actually ran well in most races and was happy to spend £££ on flying us around to new venues. I think this helped a lot in making a great behind the scenes series & can’t be taken for granted when working with someone we aren’t as close with!
Thanks for taking the time to respond. Completely makes sense, and proves the audience (or at least thick ones like me) don’t always know the graft that goes into this stuff - thus justifying your decision to show it! I’m on board for whatever you do in the future. It is a unique perspective with high production value - feels somehow purer than other channels.
Hi Callum. I hope i can get a photo with you at telford 10k
Of course mate 👍🏼
