There's no point anymore. The elite universities are ultimately only as good as the students they graduate. They have lowered admissions standards and matriculation requirements to create a more "diverse" student body. Their students are now categorically not the best and the brightest, and once they graduate into the larger world they will underperform compared to more gifted students from other, traditionally less prestigious, schools.

She was obviously afraid of her interlocutors and unready or unable to handle this grilling effectively. That said, the grilling was a kind of inquisition, with questions asked on specific topics that would require nuanced answers which she often was not allowed to give.

There are many other issues involved here which is why I spoke about nuance, which was very clearly absent from these Congressional hearings. Fact is, the US government -- and that includes the majority in Congress -- has continued to basically support the murderous Israeli actions in Gaza and elsewhere (i.e. West Bank, East Jerusalem) which have sparked outrage and protests around the world and also in the US, including on US college campuses. And the first tool of those who wish to suppress criticism of Israel is to accuse Israel's critics lock stock and barrel of antisemitism. And along the way, to suppress free speech on the issue. That this university president and others before showed themselves ineffective in answering the accusations brought against them in Congressional hearings does not alter the fact that these hearings were basically intended to suppress dissent from US policy towards Israel.
