this is just an educated guess, but I image what happens, technically, with changelings, is when an enemy unit comes into their line-of-sight, their model changes to that of a unit of the race of the enemy unit that they just saw and - crucially - their threat level drops to 0 for the owner of that enemy unit, so thay effectively become creep.
since the widow mine is undetectable, they don't enter the line-of-sight of the changeling, and their threat level never drops, which results in them being targeted.
This is correct. Similar to how Siege Tanks and Dark Templar would also Auto target them and kill them.

8:24 Not an interface bug. Because the tournament is hosted in China it is subject to Chinese censorship laws, and certain numbers are censored because they are used to refer to the Tiananmen Square Massacre. The specific numbers are 64, 89, and 535 (64 because the massacre took place on June 4th, 89 because it happened in 1989, and 535 because it is used to mean May 35th, a popular way of referring to June 4th to try and bypass previous censorship)

Finally a good game between these two after so many downers. Gosh it feels good to see someone put up a good fight against Serral. I don't want to see one of the most competitive games of all time become "can you beat Serral?"

That means you havent watched enough of TvZ at top level, because I have seen Dark and Solar won on this map. and according to stats its nearly 50% winrate in TvZ.

I'm loving the "mutas to clear out mines after forcing out turrets, into corruptors to clear out libs" style from Serral. Haven't seen that one before.
Its pretty standard, but its all coming down to getting the big Infestor Fungal hit. Without those, Terran will always trade favorably in lategame.
Maru turned that around nicely with one decisive fight nicely spread out and micro'd

@@Leonhart_93 you gotta be consider that how the zerg spreads is just so bullshit. Mules and getting enough resources is the only way terrans can really challenge the zerg spread, otherwise they'd just die from getting mineral starved just bc their resouce grab is just so slow without mules

When Serral ran straight into the main production in game 2 I’ve never felt that more in my life 😂😂. Feels so shitty to lose games that way! (Haven’t finished watching the match yet though so idk if Maru loses or not)
Building armor kept that planetary alive wayyy longer too!

Serral has improved a lot in a short period of time. He used to be slightly better then Dark before but now his trades compared to the other best Zerg's is just on a whole different league.
You must have not seen Solar play ZvT lately.
Uhhh how long is this "short period of time" to you? Serral's ZvT has been by far the best in the world for several years, the only Terran that has a win rate over 25% against Serral is Clem, who hovers around 40%. Just look at his records against all the top terran players, it's way better than Dark's. This year Serral is 8-1 in maps vs Maru, 8-1 in maps vs Byun, 18-13 vs Clem and 18-4 vs Cure. Those are absolutely insane numbers. So far this year, Dark is 11-15 vs Maru, 63-64 vs Byun, 25-34 vs Clem and 60-40 vs Cure. And this is not a new trend, Serral has been like that for years.
@@tigera6 Serral is waaaay better than Solar in ZvT. To extend my above comment, so far this year Solar is 10-16 vs Maru, 49-66 vs Byun, 15-10 vs Clem, and 21-29 vs Cure. That record against Clem is certainly impressive, but he's well below 50% against the other 3. Serral's ZvT is by far the best in the world.
@@space_orphan I said "lately" and you pull out career record for what exactly? Solar ZvT have been top notch in the last couple months. Would you pick any Terran against him, outside of Maru, at the moment? But somehow people like you only see Serral doing things, but not the other Zergs.

I had a similar thought! Right about the time Serral dove in with the mutalisks, took out 20 some scv, and managed to NOT lose them near the end. That little save caused their utility to just keep going and going. Mutas may be flimsy but used correctly they are one of the worst to defend against.
Serial counters Maru's gameplay style directly. He is not so great against Clem or Byun.
Not necessarily evidence he is goat. This is sadly predictable
@@growtocycle6992 His, what, 90-95% win rate against Terran and Protoss in tournaments is definitely evidence that he is The Starcraft GOAT. Seriously, we're talking about his 60% winrate vs. Zerg as if it was a weakness.
Anything 10% above your race's average winrate is generally an indicator of skill. If it was 55% vs zerg it would be questionable, but 60...

I don't get why Serral didn't use his huge bank to build some corruptors to deal with the liberators. then transition into brood lords. yeah maru had a lot of ghosts but ling bling infestor deals with those, and it would up serral's sieging game more than the lurkers IMO.
Its about the timing, if you watch it again you will see that Maru only put down 2 extra Starport and massing Libs at around 17-minute mark. Serral had no idea about that until he saw the Libs number raise up so quickly, and its kinda late by then to transition into Corruptors/BLord. Serral would have to give up ground and 20-24 army supply to make the Corruptors which would weaken his ground army against an already max-out Terran army. In game 1 Serral was able to transition into Corruptor easier because he already open with Muta and has decent air upgrade as well.

In HotS there's a mission that you infiltrate in a Protoss ship and you know you're a zerg, even changing forms, so I believe they all act the same.

Winter does Serral ever play Dark? That would be fun to watch I think. Any tourneys where they play each other? Also don't recommend it unless you're casting. I don't watch unless you are.
Definitely prefer the replay over the recorded feed. The quality of the video was noticeable worse since it was a recorded feed and I find myself not caring too much for their webcams. Nonetheless excellent cast by Winter and my day just got a little bit better.
Never make fun of 20 corruptors ever again.

As far as I know Brenda was able to fly in Starcraft & Broodwar, but she was not able to transfuse.
She was able to transfuse off creep in Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty but not fly.
Brenda laments the fact that to become a popular unit, she had to lose her wings and play defense. She still dreams of her glory days flying around and spawning Broodlings on tanks.
Why was the image so bad on that stream. The Basilisk stream had such bad image quality.

Maru needed 1 raven with the army and he never gets fungaled a single time.......
easier said than done, the reality is you will have to keep replacing that Raven over and over because Serral would try to snipe it down.
terran usually dont use raven especially end game against zerg because it can get infected/controlled and lead to decisive game turn table result.
Next stop, getting his entire army anti-armoured. Then the raven needs to get sniped, because it provides vision of the ghosts.
Why _didn't_ Serral get some Corrupters in the 2nd game?
You dont get Corrupters against 3-4 Libs, and Maru blindsided him with the 2 extra starport for Libs.
The cast was awesome, but the image quality didn't feel so awesome at some points :S Nothing critical though
