Impact Shooting joined me all the way from South Africa to work on an incredible project! In this video we build 2 Stiller Action rifles. Join us as we chamber a new rifle on the brand-new Wombat action in 6.5 Sherman short, chambered in a Carbon 6 Barrel, and a .22 Creedmoor on the Stiller Predator. This was a great time with Piet Malan, and it got even better once we hit the mountain for some varminting! The rock chucks (and some squirrels) have overpopulated the area and we need to do some damage control. Check it out!

Mr Gaven, you need a pack for that heavy rifle. I have a Mystery Ranch Overload weapons backpack that carries a 26 pound rifle very well. It’s like you put the pack on with your shooting kit and 26 pound rig and you immediately think, where did the weight go. It’s a huge help. Great content as always, thank you!!!!
I took a 7 sherman max to SA in 2021 with 150gr bulldozers at 3226fps, and it was a hammer. Took a follow-up shot at a gemsbok at 575yrs and turned his lights out.
When I was a kid I hunted woodchucks here in upstate NY. With my 22-250 I got consistant hits out 350+ yards.
Reading about rock chucks and hitting them to 500 yards. I found this unbelievable till I found out how big rockchucks are. An average rockchuck is 20 to 24 inches tall. Our woodchucks are 12 to 16 inches high.
You had the reamer and the Headspace gauges. What did you need the print for? Measure your shank length don't forget the lug. Thread it and sink the reamer till the go gauge just closes and no go dose not. Verify with tape on go gauge. Done. You can get closer with feel rather than trying to hit your numbers.

@mikerochburhns.102 Plastic? There are AR15s that shoot more accurately than these low-end "custom" bolt guns. If anything, there pre-fit bolt guns are just as much lego guns as ar15s.
@@StuninRub you must not have watched this video. 23 Oz action, 26 Oz chassis. 2.8 lbs on the barrel. There was nothing low end about this custom build. Including the tooling and work he put into this, going as far as getting reamer dimensions to insure it head spaced perfectly. Shooting under half moa. This isn’t low end, and even a properly lapped and headspaced Howa 1500 will outperform majority of ar15s on the market, even the “high end” aluminum and plastic ar15s.

With Sherman wildcats being sold I am steering clear. The pressure issues are another story,
Please elaborate, I’ve not heard anything negative about them but I’m skeptical. Especially since they claim their 300 magnum is 150To 200 fps faster than a 300 prc with virtually the same case dimensions.
@@chadperry4021 just look it up. They are pretty much pushing brass way beyond its capabilities. I am an avid reloader and have a few wildcats and many AI chambers. I know of many people who will no longer chamber barrels in Sherman’s because of the pressure issues and liability behind it.
@@chadperry4021 it's because it's significantly higher pressure. Run it through Gordins Reloading Tool to the same Pressures and it's barely faster. Obviously, this isnt load data to be used, but it's a good example of what to expect.
Running 225gr ELD-M and N570 with 3.800" COAL, 28" barrel:
.300 PRC - 81.5gr - 2850fps - 62883psi.
.30 SM - 83.0gr - 2872fps - 63890psi.
Barrel life is also slightly shorter. If yiu want to get that 200-300fps advantage, you'll be running over 70k psi, which is way higher pressure and eats the barrel life :/ I wanted a .30 SM but after the research I've done that lead me to GRT and looking at pressures, I realised that the velocity comes from running really high pressures.
There’s no magic. Sherman cartridges lower case capacity and run the same or higher velocities of other short magnums. The difference is obvious. They run them extremely hot.

Do a short barrel 6mm-204 or 6x6.8 next! 55gr noslers over 3500fps! With less powder an muzzle blast than the beloved 22-250 😊

Please let us know how that 22cm wombat in the HNT 26 goes. I ordered one from Horizon 9 months ago and they still cant get it to shoot right. Something about the lug and lug pocket not working together. WIll be nice when/if i get it. Wombat action, 18'' proof cf barrel, HNT26 chassis. 5lb, 3oz with no scope.

Do you have any idea how the new Stiller actions compare to when they were made in Wylie, TX? I have a Tac 30 AW of that era, and was considering using a Stiller again for a new build. Love the Tac 30 BTW.

There is no way you would get a South African from Capetown to move to the US and why would they. It is gorgeous there and you can hunt from the east cape to the north in the Limpopo River area on the border of Zimbabwe and Botswana and everything in-between.
