    Here 6 years later!
I needed an electric winch to get mine out, and a hydraulic ram to get it back into the dash because the moon-shaped plastic underneath aligns perfectly with every single obstruction with frustrating precision. It's the installation or removal that breaks these- not your large latte.

These cups holders were such an after thought lol. There's a little plastic insert you can purchase too, I have quite a few friends with those and they seem to like them. No risk of breaking either.

is the aftermarket cupholder you used better quality than the oem?

+Wes Edwards I do have a review video, not sure if you've seen that. But I am still using the aftermarket cup holder with no issues and the front cup holder is used most of the time. The cup holder has maybe been used once or twice (I rarely ever have passengers in the back seat).

Why does this BMW features hidden cup holders inside it?

My cupholders are stuck can't come out, any idea how to open it?

You are going to have to pry them open to access the screws. Then you can remove the radio, then the heater controls so you can push the unit out from the back, being very careful to not allow it to get hung up on the lower part of the aluminum bezel, which is dying to break.

I've tried removing mine this morning but its stuck about 1cm out of the dash. I have fully removed both screws but it feels like something in the middle of the cup holder jamming it.
Any Idea what it might be? Every video I've seen never shows them coming out. Just to the same point I get to and video stops lol.

+Brett Seedhouse The plastic cover on the backside might be catching up. If you noticed on mine, it doesn't have one. Mine had somehow fell underneath the cup holder location and I removed it afterwards. You will most likely have to remove the HVAC panel to help assist it out.
