  • PVC trim goes up around the windows and doors, as well as at the corners, bring The Everything Garage one step closer to completion. Cellular PVC trim is my go to material for anything that will see moisture that could lead to potential problems. It's rot resistant and can be treated just like a wood based material. Cellular PVC trim can be nailed, screwed, patched, and painted to give a clean finished look without the constant upkeep.

    Love your precision and attention to detail. Must be that Microbiology PhD.

    Did you use Acetone on the cut edges to keep it from staining and turning brown. Someone on Home Depot site quoted: Fine sand paper then acetone with a clean rag rubbed on the cut surface will smooth out the cut edge sealing it for the most part keeping out the tiny dirt particles preventing mold from growing and staining.

    locked up chuck? spin in reverse while tapping on chuck many times fairly hard with linesman pliers or hammer. should break free in no time.

    Oh wow, I was worried you were gonna tell me i have to use some sort of glue. Thank you!

      Gluing the corners will probably be beneficial in the long term for stability and preventing the joint from opening. However, I haven’t had any problems yet and mine aren’t glued.

    So what kind of nails are you using and how did you fill them? Given the rot proof nature of pvc Im trying to find fasteners that wont rust.

      I am using Milwaukee's 15G finish nailer with exterior 2 1/2" nails (pretty sure they were 2 1/2")

    hello good morning. I have a project at home. I want to put vinyl siding and I'm thinking about installing pvc corner and then putting g chanel. I would like to know if that can be done and if so, what width measurements do I use to put the corners that are seen in the video. thank you

    Why no PVC glue on your connections?

    I have had my drill bit stuck. I put it in a vice and put it in reverse

    • @hsdesignstudio
      @hsdesignstudio  Před 3 lety

      I thought about that. But the problem wasn't stopping the chuck, I could do it with my hands. The problem seemed to be when the chuck was stopped, the internal geared didn't engage to back off the 3 teeth. Maybe a quick shot in reverse in a vice would have done it. Either way, fixed now!

    I have a question…my molding wouldn’t stay in place where the vinyl meets the brick siding how do I fix this? Is there a glue that they sell my dad tried to add screws but that didn’t work.

    • @hsdesignstudio
      @hsdesignstudio  Před 2 lety

      Are you screwing into a solid backing, not just plywood? All of my moulding is attached into 2x6" framing behind the plywood. To answer your question though- PL premium glues anything together haha

    • @Dbb27
      @Dbb27 Před 2 lety

      Apparently not all glues and caulks are recommended for pvc. If it doesn’t state it is don’t use it.

    I had my drill lock up. I bet on it and channel locked it . Lol a waste of time . Trash it. It happened with the same type of bit ironically. ! Maybe that has something to do with it.

      @hsdesignstudio  Před 3 lety +1

      @@johnboggs8765 In the past I have used trim screws, but I didn't own the 15g nailer at that time. I thought for this project (since it is my own garage), I would see how it worked. I do plan on filling the nail holes with the appropriate filler in the spring, as well as painting all of the trim. The nailer is Milwaukee's 15g finish battery nailer.

    How does this compare to hardie trim?

    • @hsdesignstudio
      @hsdesignstudio  Před 3 lety

      I've never actually worked with hardie board trim, so I can't give you a good comparison. If I was doing Hardie siding, I'd probably lean the Hardie trim as well for continuity. Same goes with vinyl and PVC trim.

    • @sevignyp
      @sevignyp Před 2 lety

      Hardie Trim are a pain in the butt to cut compare to pvc. Pvc will cut like wood while Hardie is more like cutting masonery. Apparently both will kill you eventually so I made my choice on the one that is easier to cut!

    Loved the video, thank you! Just one tiny comment, your voice goes high often when excited or asking a question. Suggest keeping your voice low, much more pleasing to the ear. (Just a tip from an old video producer)

      The great thing about CZcams videos is that you can be yourself, you are not an actor and portraying someone else. Sylvia, what if this CZcamsr had an issue growing up with people making fun of him? Stop trolling….
