Vikas Divyakriti was not talking about Ramayan. He was discussing a question where the question was somewhat on the line of feminist/modernist critic of Tulsidas. He in the end concludes that no Tulsidas was not a patriarchal poet rather he was very progressive. We should know our Dharmagrantha but also try to explore what the context is. I am a devout Hindu. Ami Ganatra has correct interpretation of Valmiki Ramayana and she explains it eloquently, but what Vikas ji was doing was comparing poets of different ages and their writing style and interpretation and not commenting on lord Rama.

And the same desire king Trishanku(Ancestor of Ram) have and get Shrap for this. Shravan Kumar, Shabri also shudras and doing Tap but never get punished.

According to vyas smriti shudras are not suitable for swarg. That's the root cause of shambhuk murder. And there is no mention about doing tap by shabri. Shabri offered only fruits to rama and the fruit was not defiled.

Also many shlokas written in ved are by lower class (shudras) that means at that time shudras also allowed do the Tap and can change their varna. Motive of Sambook is clearly mention you can not deny it. Whole Katha is symbolic that says if you want to fulfill your unnatural desires and it affects others, it should be stopped. Dear ! we do have some knowledge of Sanskrit which is compulsory in a few classes. Apart from that many foreigners have commented or explained or deeply studied our Vedas, puranas, Upanishads, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Shrimadbhagwadgeeta individually etc. Did they all know Sanskrit. Perhaps not.... But yes there are translations available in many languages of all these books from long ago. From there we get the knowledge of our ancient History, which is the mythology for foreigners. Hinduism is just not the religion, it's the sabhyata itself. Which is very old & maintained. And ofc individuals have some knowledge that's why they start debating on some topic. Which itself increases others knowledge too. Thank you

नमस्कार, इस वाद प्रतिवाद में मैंने जितने भी वीडियो देखे हैं वो संदर्भ से भटक गए हैं। बात ये नहीं है कि श्री राम ने क्या कहा और किस भाव से कहा। विकास दिव्यकीर्ती जी का संदर्भ ये था कि अलग अलग काल खंड में लेखक ने क्या लिखा और क्या छोड़ दिया। वे यह समझा रहे थे कि जो प्रसंग वर्तमान काल खंड में सामान्य जन को समझने में अनुचित लग सके उसे कालांतर में लेखक छोड़ते गए। इस संदर्भ में तुलसी दास जी ने कई प्रसंग जो आधुनिक काल में विवादित हो सकते थे उसे छोड़ दिया। जैसे सीता परित्याग, शंबूक वध आदि। अतः इस दृष्टि से तुलसीदास पिछले लेखकों से प्रगतिशील हैं। ऐसा प्रश्न upsc पूछती है इसलिए ये पढ़ाना आवश्यक हो जाता है। पर हर डिबेट में ये सिद्ध करने की कोशिश की जा रही है कि प्रभु राम ने को कहा उसे सही सिद्ध किया जाए। इसकी कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है जो नारायण के अवतार हैं उन्हें हम सही और गलत नहीं सिद्ध कर सकते। जो बात समझने की जरूरत है वो ये है कि हमने राम को लेखकों के लेखनी से बंध कर देखा है। हर समय का लेखक अपने काल खंड की सीमाओं से बंधा रहता है और उसी अनुरूप चरित्र चित्रण करता है। आज के 200 वर्ष बाद हो सकता है कोइ और लेखक श्री राम का चरित्र चित्रण और आधुनिक ढंग से करे जो वर्तमान से भिन्न हो। ये एक प्रक्रिया है इसे हम रोक नहीं सकते हैं। जय श्री राम।

I watched the lallantop video of Vikas Divyakirti Sir and was convinced that people have misinterpreted and that he is right, but seeing this video abt the shambuk vadh and the related explainations it is clear that Vikas Sir also omitted out some facts on that topic. Plus academics sometimes follow the logic and leave out emotions and its consequences on human behaviour, which I think was the case of Shri Ram calling out Sitaji. I am reminded of a saying in this context "everybody who speaks against you is not your enemy, everybody who speaks for you is not your friend" Two takeaways from this controversy is that experts from both sides should be heard, and always have space for some addition to what you have concluded.

🔺श्री रामचन्द्र जी महाराज का चरित्र : वाल्मीकि रामायण में श्री रामचन्द्र द्वारा वनवास काल में निषाद राज द्वारा लाये गए भोजन को ग्रहण करना (बाल कांड 1/37-40) एवं शबर (कोल/भील) जाति की शबरी से बेर खाना (अरण्यक कांड 74/7) यह सिद्ध करता हैं की शूद्र वर्ण से उस काल में कोई भेदभाव नहीं करता था। श्री रामचंद्र जी महाराज वन में शबरी से मिलने गए। शबरी के विषय में वाल्मीकि मुनि लिखते हैं की वह शबरी सिद्ध जनों से सम्मानित तपस्वनी थी। अरण्यक 74/10 इससे यह सिद्ध होता हैं की शूद्र को रामायण काल में तपस्या करने पर किसी भी प्रकार की कोई रोक नहीं थी। नारद मुनि वाल्मीकि रामायण (बाल कांड 1/16) में लिखते हैं राम श्रेष्ठ, सबके साथ समान व्यवहार करने वाले और सदा प्रिय दृष्टी वाले हैं। अब पाठकगण स्वयं विचार करें कि श्रीराम कैसे तपस्या में लीन किसी शूद्र कूल में उत्पन्न हुए शम्बूक की हत्या कर सकते हैं? जब वेद, रामायण, महाभारत, उपनिषद्, गीता आदि सभी धर्म शास्त्र शूद्र को तपस्या करने, विद्या ग्रहण से एवं आचरण से ब्राह्मण बनने, समान व्यवहार करने का सन्देश देते हैं तो यह वेद विरोधी कथन तर्क शास्त्र की कसौटी पर असत्य सिद्ध होता है। नारद मुनि का कथन कि द्वापर युग में शूद्र का तप करना वर्जित है असत्य है। 🔷*श्री राम का पुष्पक विमान लेकर शम्बूक को खोजना एक और असत्य कथन है क्योंकि पुष्पक विमान तो श्री राम जी ने अयोध्या से लौटते ही उसके वास्तविक स्वामी कुबेर को लौटा दिया था।* 🔷*सन्दर्भ- युद्ध कांड 127/62*🔷 जिस प्रकार किसी भी कर्म को करने से कर्म करने वाले व्यक्ति को ही उसका फल मिलता है उसी प्रकार किसी भी व्यक्ति के तप करने से उस तप का फल उस तप करने वाले व्यक्ति मात्र को मिलेगा इसलिए यह कथन की शम्बूक के तप से ब्राह्मण पुत्र का देहांत हो गया असत्य है। सत्य यह है की मध्य काल में जब वेद विद्या का लोप होने लगा था, उस काल में ब्राह्मण व्यक्ति अपने गुणों से नहीं अपितु अपने जन्म से समझा जाने लगा था, उस काल में जब शूद्र को नीचा समझा जाने लगा था, उस काल में जब नारी को नरक का द्वार समझा जाने लगा था, उस काल में मनुस्मृति में भी वेद विरोधी और जातिवाद का पोषण करने वाले श्लोकों को मिला दिया गया था, उस काल में वाल्मीकि रामायण में भी अशुद्ध पाठ को मिला दिया गया था जिसका नाम उत्तर कांड है। इस प्रकार के असत्य के प्रचार से न केवल अवैदिक विचारधारा को बढ़ावा मिला वरन् श्रीराम को जाति विरोधी कहकर कुछ अज्ञानी लोग अपने स्वार्थ की सिद्धि के लिए हिन्दू जाति की बड़ी संख्या को विधर्मी अथवा नास्तिक बनाने में सफल हुए हैं। तदर्थ सत्य के ग्रहण और असत्य के त्याग में सदा तत्पर रहते हुए, हमें श्री रामचंद्र के प्रति जो अन्याय करने का विष वमन किया जाता है उसका प्रतिकार करना चाहिए तभी राम राज्य को सार्थक और सिद्ध किया जा सकेगा। ~ *स्वामी विद्यानंद सरस्वती (रामायण के नाम पर भ्रांतियाँ और उनका समाधान)*

Pronunciations matter, if only for authenticity. Vishrava and Pulastya we're both mispronounced. It is also worth mentioning that after Ravana, Pulastya's name was removed from the Saptarshi group - a sign that punishments were based on actions and not on birth considerations.

Based on the discussion, I suspect that shambhuk could have been practicing one of the forbidden aghori tantric practices that leads to eternal life in the flesh, but as a consequence other beings are hurt and is against the natural laws of nature. 🔷वाल्मीकि रामायण से शूद्र के उपासना से महान बनने के प्रमाण : मुनि वाल्मीकि जी कहते हैं की इस रामायण के पढ़ने से (स्वाध्याय से) ब्राह्मण बड़ा सुवक्ता ऋषि होगा, क्षत्रिय भूपति होगा, वैश्य अच्छा लाभ प्राप्त करेगा और शूद्र महान होगा। रामायण में चारों वर्णों के समान अधिकार देखते हैं। सन्दर्भ- प्रथम अध्याय- अंतिम श्लोक इसके अतिरिक्त अयोध्या कांड अध्याय 63 श्लोक 50-51 तथा अध्याय 64 श्लोक 32-33 में रामायण को श्रवण करने का वैश्यों और शूद्रों दोनों के समान अधिकार का वर्णन है। 🔷महाभारत से शुद्र के उपासना से महान बनने के प्रमाण : श्री कृष्ण जी कहते हैं - हे पार्थ ! जो पापयोनि स्त्रियाँ, वैश्य और शूद्र हैं, यह भी मेरी उपासना कर परमगति को प्राप्त होते हैं। गीता 9/32 🔷उपनिषद् से शूद्र के उपासना से महान बनने के प्रमाण : यह शूद्र वर्ण पूषण अर्थात पोषण करने वाला हैं और साक्षात् इस पृथ्वी के समान हैं यतः(=क्योंकि) जैसे यह पृथ्वी सबका भरण -पोषण करती है, वैसे शूद्र भी सबका भरण-पोषण करता है। सन्दर्भ- बृहदारण्यक उपनिषद् 1/4/13 व्यक्ति गुणों से शूद्र अथवा ब्राह्मण होता है न कि जन्म गृह से। सत्यकाम जाबाल जब गौतम गोत्री हारिद्रुमत मुनि के पास शिक्षार्थी होकर पहुँचा तो मुनि ने उसका गोत्र पूछा। उन्होंने उत्तर दिया था की युवास्था में मैं अनेक व्यक्तियों की सेवा करती रही। उसी समय तेरा जन्म हुआ, इसलिए मैं नहीं जानती की तेरा गोत्र क्या है। मेरा नाम सत्यकाम है। इस पर मुनि ने कहा- जो ब्राह्मण न हो वह ऐसी सत्य बात नहीं कर सकता। सन्दर्भ- छान्दोग्य उपनिषद् 3/4 🔷महाभारत में यक्ष -युधिष्ठिर संवाद 313/108-109 में युधिष्ठिर के अनुसार व्यक्ति कुल, स्वाध्याय व ज्ञान से द्विज नहीं बनता अपितु केवल आचरण से बनता है। 🔷कर्ण ने सूत पुत्र होने के कारण स्वयंवर में अयोग्य ठह राये जाने पर कहा था- जन्म देना तो ईश्वर अधीन है, परन्तु पुरुषार्थ के द्वारा कुछ का कुछ बन जाना मनुष्य के वश में है। 🔷आपस्तम्ब धर्म सूत्र 2/5/11/10-11 - जिस प्रकार धर्म आचरण से निकृष्ट वर्ण अपने से उत्तम उत्तम वर्ण को प्राप्त होता हैं जिसके वह योग्य हो। इसी प्रकार अधर्म आचरण से उत्तम वर्ण वाला मनुष्य अपने से नीचे वर्ण को प्राप्त होता हैं। 🔷जो शूद्र कूल में उत्पन्न होके ब्राह्मण के गुण -कर्म- स्वभाव वाला हो वह ब्राह्मण बन जाता हैं उसी प्रकार ब्राह्मण कूल में उत्पन्न होकर भी जिसके गुण-कर्म-स्वाभाव शुद्र के सदृश हों वह शूद्र हो जाता हैं- मनु 10/65 🔷चारों वेदों का विद्वान, किन्तु चरित्रहीन ब्राह्मण शूद्र से निकृष्ट होता हैं, अग्निहोत्र करने वाला जितेन्द्रिय ही ब्राह्मण कहलाता है- महाभारत वन पर्व 313/111 🔷ब्राह्मण, क्षत्रिय, वैश्य और शूद्र सभी तपस्या के द्वारा स्वर्ग प्राप्त करते हैं। महाभारत अनुगीता पर्व 91/37 🔷सत्य, दान, क्षमा, शील अनृशंसता, तप और दया जिसमें हो वह ब्राह्मण हैं और जिसमें यह न हों वह शूद्र होता है। वन पर्व 180/21-26

Always a pleasure to her Ami Ganatraji. She so eloquently explains our epics. Heard Vikasji in Lallantop so that I can get the context. Vikasji is well read but felt he is missing the point. The examples Vikasji is quoting that they were regressive so Tulsidasiji left it out (so he was progressive) were not regressive in the FIRST place. Shambuk wasn't punished because he was shudra. The words he quoted, as was used for Mata Sita doesn't appear in Ramayana (though it is used in Mahabharatha by second person who was describing the incident). So which will obviously not be referred/included by Tulsidasji. And what Ramji told Sita mata which we get to know by Valmikiji weren't regressive either as it had a purpose as clearly explained by Ami Ganatraji. So Tulsidasji left these things out not because he might have thought these as regressive but might be because his sole intention was bhakthi of Sri Rama his ishta devata, so concentrating on those where he can express his bhakthi. So the better way of addressing the UPSC question would be to rather to concentrate on those parts of Ramacharitamanas where he can get a glimpse of what were the thoughts of Tulsidasji towards women & how he revered them & what expressions in his poems makes him progressive.
So ma’am, I ask you- was shambhuk vadh justified according to you. And do you really believe a shudra meditating can lead to death of Brahmin. How can a shudra be a Hindu if he can’t read the holy texts. A Christian can read bible, a muslim - Kuran. But a shudra was not allowed to read vedas. How come? How can you justify it logically?

Vikas Divyakriti was not talking about Ramayan. He was discussing a question where the question was somewhat on the line of feminist/modernist critic of Tulsidas. He in the end concludes that no Tulsidas was not a patriarchal poet rather he was very progressive. We should know our Dharmagrantha but also try to explore what the context is. I am a devout Hindu. Ami Ganatra has correct interpretation of Valmiki Ramayana and she explains it eloquently, but what Vikas ji was doing was comparing poets of different ages and their writing style and interpretation and not commenting on lord Rama.

in Europe a Scholar of Christianity must know Latin, Hebrew & Greek to comment on Bible & Christian history. In India many historians don't know Sanskrit still make comments on Vedas, Puranas .... as if they are Scholar on Hindu Scriptures
Dear ! we do have some knowledge of Sanskrit which is compulsory in a few classes. Apart from that many foreigners have commented or explained or deeply studied our Vedas, puranas, Upanishads, Ramayana, Mahabharata, Shrimadbhagwadgeeta individually etc. Did they all know Sanskrit. Perhaps not.... But yes there are translations available in many languages of all these books from long ago. From there we get the knowledge of our ancient History, which is the mythology for foreigners. Hinduism is just not the religion, it's the sabhyata itself. Which is very old & maintained. And ofc individuals have some knowledge that's why they start debating on some topic. Which itself increases others knowledge too.

नमस्कार, इस वाद प्रतिवाद में मैंने जितने भी वीडियो देखे हैं वो संदर्भ से भटक गए हैं। बात ये नहीं है कि श्री राम ने क्या कहा और किस भाव से कहा। विकास दिव्यकीर्ती जी का संदर्भ ये था कि अलग अलग काल खंड में लेखक ने क्या लिखा और क्या छोड़ दिया। वे यह समझा रहे थे कि जो प्रसंग वर्तमान काल खंड में सामान्य जन को समझने में अनुचित लग सके उसे कालांतर में लेखक छोड़ते गए। इस संदर्भ में तुलसी दास जी ने कई प्रसंग जो आधुनिक काल में विवादित हो सकते थे उसे छोड़ दिया। जैसे सीता परित्याग, शंबूक वध आदि। अतः इस दृष्टि से तुलसीदास पिछले लेखकों से प्रगतिशील हैं। ऐसा प्रश्न upsc पूछती है इसलिए ये पढ़ाना आवश्यक हो जाता है।
पर हर डिबेट में ये सिद्ध करने की कोशिश की जा रही है कि प्रभु राम ने को कहा उसे सही सिद्ध किया जाए। इसकी कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है जो नारायण के अवतार हैं उन्हें हम सही और गलत नहीं सिद्ध कर सकते। जो बात समझने की जरूरत है वो ये है कि हमने राम को लेखकों के लेखनी से बंध कर देखा है। हर समय का लेखक अपने काल खंड की सीमाओं से बंधा रहता है और उसी अनुरूप चरित्र चित्रण करता है। आज के 200 वर्ष बाद हो सकता है कोइ और लेखक श्री राम का चरित्र चित्रण और आधुनिक ढंग से करे जो वर्तमान से भिन्न हो। ये एक प्रक्रिया है इसे हम रोक नहीं सकते हैं।

I watched the lallantop video of Vikas Divyakirti Sir and was convinced that people have misinterpreted and that he is right, but seeing this video abt the shambuk vadh and the related explainations it is clear that Vikas Sir also omitted out some facts on that topic.
Plus academics sometimes follow the logic and leave out emotions and its consequences on human behaviour, which I think was the case of Shri Ram calling out Sitaji.
I am reminded of a saying in this context "everybody who speaks against you is not your enemy, everybody who speaks for you is not your friend"
Two takeaways from this controversy is that experts from both sides should be heard, and always have space for some addition to what you have concluded.

इससे यह सिद्ध होता हैं की शूद्र को रामायण काल में तपस्या करने पर किसी भी प्रकार की कोई रोक नहीं थी।
नारद मुनि वाल्मीकि रामायण (बाल कांड 1/16) में लिखते हैं राम श्रेष्ठ, सबके साथ समान व्यवहार करने वाले और सदा प्रिय दृष्टी वाले हैं।
अब पाठकगण स्वयं विचार करें कि श्रीराम कैसे तपस्या में लीन किसी शूद्र कूल में उत्पन्न हुए शम्बूक की हत्या कर सकते हैं?
जब वेद, रामायण, महाभारत, उपनिषद्, गीता आदि सभी धर्म शास्त्र शूद्र को तपस्या करने, विद्या ग्रहण से एवं आचरण से ब्राह्मण बनने, समान व्यवहार करने का सन्देश देते हैं तो यह वेद विरोधी कथन तर्क शास्त्र की कसौटी पर असत्य सिद्ध होता है।
नारद मुनि का कथन कि द्वापर युग में शूद्र का तप करना वर्जित है असत्य है।
🔷*श्री राम का पुष्पक विमान लेकर शम्बूक को खोजना एक और असत्य कथन है क्योंकि पुष्पक विमान तो श्री राम जी ने अयोध्या से लौटते ही उसके वास्तविक स्वामी कुबेर को लौटा दिया था।* 🔷*सन्दर्भ- युद्ध कांड 127/62*🔷
जिस प्रकार किसी भी कर्म को करने से कर्म करने वाले व्यक्ति को ही उसका फल मिलता है उसी प्रकार किसी भी व्यक्ति के तप करने से उस तप का फल उस तप करने वाले व्यक्ति मात्र को मिलेगा इसलिए यह कथन की शम्बूक के तप से ब्राह्मण पुत्र का देहांत हो गया असत्य है।
सत्य यह है की मध्य काल में जब वेद विद्या का लोप होने लगा था, उस काल में ब्राह्मण व्यक्ति अपने गुणों से नहीं अपितु अपने जन्म से समझा जाने लगा था, उस काल में जब शूद्र को नीचा समझा जाने लगा था, उस काल में जब नारी को नरक का द्वार समझा जाने लगा था, उस काल में मनुस्मृति में भी वेद विरोधी और जातिवाद का पोषण करने वाले श्लोकों को मिला दिया गया था, उस काल में वाल्मीकि रामायण में भी अशुद्ध पाठ को मिला दिया गया था जिसका नाम उत्तर कांड है।
इस प्रकार के असत्य के प्रचार से न केवल अवैदिक विचारधारा को बढ़ावा मिला वरन् श्रीराम को जाति विरोधी कहकर कुछ अज्ञानी लोग अपने स्वार्थ की सिद्धि के लिए हिन्दू जाति की बड़ी संख्या को विधर्मी अथवा नास्तिक बनाने में सफल हुए हैं।
तदर्थ सत्य के ग्रहण और असत्य के त्याग में सदा तत्पर रहते हुए, हमें श्री रामचंद्र के प्रति जो अन्याय करने का विष वमन किया जाता है उसका प्रतिकार करना चाहिए तभी राम राज्य को सार्थक और सिद्ध किया जा सकेगा।

A very minor nitpick. Pronunciations matter, if only for authenticity. Vishrava and Pulastya we're both mispronounced. It is also worth mentioning that after Ravana, Pulastya's name was removed from the Saptarshi group - a sign that punishments were based on actions and not on birth considerations.
If a Brahmin committed adultery or rape, he was only fined (Manu Smriti VIII.385). However if a Shudra had sexual intercourse with a Brahmin woman, he was to be put to death whether the act was consensual or not (Vashishtha Dharmashastra 21.1). If a Brahmin abuses a Shudra, he has to pay a small fine (Manu Smriti VIII. 268) or nothing at all (Gautam Dharma Sutra XII.10). But in the reverse case, the tongue of a Shudra was to be cut off (Manu Smriti VIII. 270).

Your interpretation on Sita mata taking a test for Lord Rama sounds very logical to prove that Lord Rama only had to prove to the world what Sita mata character is. TO him, it is pure love for Sita. Because he is a king he had to do that, if it were a regular citizen, it might not be as required. But, I have one doubt - when you call Sravan a Shudra because his mother is so, should Ravan not called a Rakshasha(and not a brahmin) as his mother is so? This is only to seek clarification. Based on the discussion, I suspect that shambhuk could have been practicing one of the forbidden aghori tantric practices that leads to eternal life in the flesh, but as a consequence other beings are hurt and is against the natural laws of nature. The child regaining consciousness after shambhuk was killed seem to indicate that there was something like that going on perhaps. Ofcourse this is completely a conjecture on my part.

मुनि वाल्मीकि जी कहते हैं की इस रामायण के पढ़ने से (स्वाध्याय से) ब्राह्मण बड़ा सुवक्ता ऋषि होगा, क्षत्रिय भूपति होगा, वैश्य अच्छा लाभ प्राप्त करेगा और शूद्र महान होगा। रामायण में चारों वर्णों के समान अधिकार देखते हैं। सन्दर्भ- प्रथम अध्याय- अंतिम श्लोक
इसके अतिरिक्त अयोध्या कांड अध्याय 63 श्लोक 50-51 तथा अध्याय 64 श्लोक 32-33 में रामायण को श्रवण करने का वैश्यों और शूद्रों दोनों के समान अधिकार का वर्णन है।
🔷महाभारत से शुद्र के उपासना से महान बनने के प्रमाण :
श्री कृष्ण जी कहते हैं -
हे पार्थ ! जो पापयोनि स्त्रियाँ, वैश्य और शूद्र हैं, यह भी मेरी उपासना कर परमगति को प्राप्त होते हैं। गीता 9/32
🔷उपनिषद् से शूद्र के उपासना से महान बनने के प्रमाण :
यह शूद्र वर्ण पूषण अर्थात पोषण करने वाला हैं और साक्षात् इस पृथ्वी के समान हैं यतः(=क्योंकि) जैसे यह पृथ्वी सबका भरण -पोषण करती है, वैसे शूद्र भी सबका भरण-पोषण करता है। सन्दर्भ- बृहदारण्यक उपनिषद् 1/4/13
व्यक्ति गुणों से शूद्र अथवा ब्राह्मण होता है न कि जन्म गृह से।
सत्यकाम जाबाल जब गौतम गोत्री हारिद्रुमत मुनि के पास शिक्षार्थी होकर पहुँचा तो मुनि ने उसका गोत्र पूछा। उन्होंने उत्तर दिया था की युवास्था में मैं अनेक व्यक्तियों की सेवा करती रही। उसी समय तेरा जन्म हुआ, इसलिए मैं नहीं जानती की तेरा गोत्र क्या है। मेरा नाम सत्यकाम है। इस पर मुनि ने कहा- जो ब्राह्मण न हो वह ऐसी सत्य बात नहीं कर सकता। सन्दर्भ- छान्दोग्य उपनिषद् 3/4
🔷महाभारत में यक्ष -युधिष्ठिर संवाद 313/108-109 में युधिष्ठिर के अनुसार व्यक्ति कुल, स्वाध्याय व ज्ञान से द्विज नहीं बनता अपितु केवल आचरण से बनता है।
🔷कर्ण ने सूत पुत्र होने के कारण स्वयंवर में अयोग्य ठह राये जाने पर कहा था- जन्म देना तो ईश्वर अधीन है, परन्तु पुरुषार्थ के द्वारा कुछ का कुछ बन जाना मनुष्य के वश में है।
🔷आपस्तम्ब धर्म सूत्र 2/5/11/10-11 - जिस प्रकार धर्म आचरण से निकृष्ट वर्ण अपने से उत्तम उत्तम वर्ण को प्राप्त होता हैं जिसके वह योग्य हो। इसी प्रकार अधर्म आचरण से उत्तम वर्ण वाला मनुष्य अपने से नीचे वर्ण को प्राप्त होता हैं।

Heard Vikasji in Lallantop so that I can get the context. Vikasji is well read but felt he is missing the point. The examples Vikasji is quoting that they were regressive so Tulsidasiji left it out (so he was progressive) were not regressive in the FIRST place. Shambuk wasn't punished because he was shudra. The words he quoted, as was used for Mata Sita doesn't appear in Ramayana (though it is used in Mahabharatha by second person who was describing the incident). So which will obviously not be referred/included by Tulsidasji. And what Ramji told Sita mata which we get to know by Valmikiji weren't regressive either as it had a purpose as clearly explained by Ami Ganatraji. So Tulsidasji left these things out not because he might have thought these as regressive but might be because his sole intention was bhakthi of Sri Rama his ishta devata, so concentrating on those where he can express his bhakthi. So the better way of addressing the UPSC question would be to rather to concentrate on those parts of Ramacharitamanas where he can get a glimpse of what were the thoughts of Tulsidasji towards women & how he revered them & what expressions in his poems makes him progressive.
So ma’am, I ask you- was shambhuk vadh justified according to you. And do you really believe a shudra meditating can lead to death of Brahmin. How can a shudra be a Hindu if he can’t read the holy texts. A Christian can read bible, a muslim - Kuran. But a shudra was not allowed to read vedas. How come? How can you justify it logically?
