We had Isuzu npr and Mitsubishi fuso trucks at my Dads shop back in the 90s and early 2000s, prior to those they ran E350 econolines. The Isuzu’s were tough. Half were gas. All were rode hard. Never any major issues. Also those trucks have the GM 4L80E trans.
I think your starting issue is down to fuel draining back into the tank after it's been stopped for a while. There's a lot of height difference between the fuel line at the tank and the carb, so a single fuel pump can struggle to prime and supply fuel after it's been idle. Fitting a second fuel pump near the tank along with one up near the engine will help cure the problem, this is what is done often in fuel injection and diesel vehicles, you have a fuel lift pump at the tank and then the injector pump at the engine. The best option would be to find a pump with a non-return valve to maintain the prime or to fit a non-return valve between the tank and the first, lift pump and that'll help cure the problem. It'll also mean the fuel pump up by the engine lasts a lot longer as it's not trying to pull the fuel up from the tank and pump it into the float chamber as that'll be what's killing the fuel pumps, they're having to work too hard which means they're running too much and, inevitably, burning out...
Thats a pretty sick truck dude. How many tons would hat truck be? I'd assume it'd be bigger than a 1 ton. I always have wondered too out of curiosity what it is you do for work? I always assume we are a welder or machinist or something of the sort but was always still curious lol
The gvw on it is only 11,000lbs so I guess it's technically a 1 ton. I'm a wholesaler. I get vehicles and equipment and fix it up and sell it. I've been doing that for 10 + years now. I'm opening a repair shop on one of my properties this year. I'm just waiting for permit approval so I can start construction.
@@NOT_FOR_HIRE Wow I thought it'd be a lot higher, that would be about a. tons rating. The GVWR on my new to me 06 3500 dually I told you about has a GVWR of 11,400 lbs if I'm not mistaken. Once I figure out my computer (old one died) I'll make some videos with my new truck & gooseneck, I'm pretty excited to do some content on it lol. Also that's really cool that you sell & buy vehicles and machinery for your full time job. A repair shop would be wicked to have for yourself, hopefully they approve your permit so you can get it under way soon :)
Mine has 245,000 miles. I haven't really had any issues besides a fuel pump so I'm not sure what to look for. I'd just make sure there isn't any frame rot. The cab titling makes everything easy to inspect.
Trucks made in Japan. Engines made in America. I liked
