- Have your DPN's ever slipped right out of your project, leaving dozens of dropped stitches? A basic DPN case is crucial of you plan to knit your rounds with multiple needles. Here is the easiest and strait forward way to sew a basic snap case for your knitting project in DPN's. My case is larger, made for a neck ribbing or sleeves with 8" DPN's, but you can simply adjust the pattern to fit your project with the simple steps I show.
Steps:
-Measure out your fabric
-Cut two pieces of the same measurement.
-Sew right sides together leaving a small space to flip your fabric right side out.
-Seam close
-Add snaps
My measurements:
For my sweater project I am using 8" DPN's on the neck ribbing and sleeves. my DPN case is approximately 9x15 before seaming. Finish case measures about 8x14 (inches).
I placed my snaps approximately 2" up and 1.5" in.
Great help in designing how large to make the project, bearing in mind not just needles but the knitting too.
You can remove a snap like these by squeezing the snap sideways with pliers. Ask me how I know. 😉
