  • Sebastien Tortelli is a 2 time Motocross World Champion and one of the fastest gentleman to ever ride a dirtbike. He was one of the only riders to beat Stefan Everts in his prime to a World Title and was one of the only riders in the early 2000's to be able to beat Ricky Carmichael. In more recent times, he has moves to Barcelona to be the lead test rider for the all new Stark Future project.     I always thought on the 350, 450 discussion that manufacturers should just build a less tricked out 450. Less horsepower, more torque, more rideability and especially longer service life. That's what I always thought going to the local track, everybody is riding 250 because they make less power meanwhile they have to change pistons every 24h and an air cooled Honda xr400r makes the same horsepower. Now granted I know the delivery isn't the same, but that's something which could be addressed in design

      Motor inertia is a big thing, and a less tricked 450 is gonna be heavier. Even 50cc make a noticeable difference

      @@Okipouros that's not true. You are conflating things. If you talk about inertia, you probably mean rotational inertia of the rotating assembly and this is absolutely minimal in mx bikes.
      A less powerful 450 could have an even lighter crank, because it has to handle less torque.

      Spot on.
      No one seems to address the MX bike and the off road bike issue. The large manufacturers won’t change the mx 450 to a smaller capacity because the off road weekend warrior don’t want a smaller, high revving, high maintenance engine. Keep in mind that off road bikes (in Australia) out sell mx bikes 2:1.

    Start to finish, what is the process of making the battery? And, does anyone other than the owner, have access to the information on the phone, that is required to run the bike?

    Figure out the range factor (basically the same issue with all electric vehicles right now). and this would be awesome.

      We did. I bought a Nissan leaf back in 2016 and now cars can do 420 miles. And now I'm waiting for my Varg because you guys need your hand holding. 😂

    The only thing im afraid of is the lack of clutch and gears, really lowers the skill ceiling

      @@danialdunson who is talking about the top? The sport is kept alive by amateurs and hobby riders - without them the professionals would have no sponsors or backing.
      Electric bikes are boring and rip the soul out of Motorsport, any Motorsport that transitions to electric would be killed by the change. No one really wants this, It is a boring political move (that has nothing to do with emissions or noise) that will eventually be adopted by all the big manufacturers, who don't want to be seen to be doing wrong.

      @@Edward-ry1jk I buy it because it's silent and I can rip around my house, because it requires no maintenance, filters and all that. Lower ceiling will bring more amateurs which, by your own words, will feed the sport more. Your sport, as it is right now, is a dead horse. I live in a fairly big city and we don't even have an mx track around. Political move my ass, you're stuck in time.

      Isn’t the point go faster? If it’s faster and easier to maintain than 450 what’s the problem? Great opportunity for growth of the dirt bike industry along with traditional gas powered bikes

      @@jasoneisner2668 I think any ease of maintainance is wiped out with the aggravation of having to charge the thing every 40 mins when ur in the middle of a field

      You’re looking at it all wrong. How many times were you looking at something close to town and go that would be a badass jump. Now you can do it without noise and get away with a lot more. I’ll never get rid of my gas bike but I’d put one in the garage Forsure

    I'm tired of hearing bout the electric bikes soon as they get hit hard in a supercross race the battery is gonna go up in flames and explode
