I’m also excited to have a silent bike so I can poach some urban spots with out causing too much disturbance.
A very similar thing happened in 1998 when Yamaha asked factory racer Doug Henry to switch to their YZ400 four-stroke in AMA professional racing. The rest is history. To this day, many are bitter that four-strokes all but have replaced two-strokes at the highest levels of motocross and supercross. I can totally understand that the big manufacturers from Japan and Austria do not want electric motorcycles raining on their parade. The fans are also pushing back, as live events won't have the same "impact" as with ICE because of the lack of sound (again, most people prefer the two-stroke sound, so this is a historical issue). Also, the likes of Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Suzuki and KTM brands to not want to see a Stark Varg hole-shotting almost every moto, which would probably be the outcome (and winning races). They will hold on to the bitter end, but eventually it will happen. If a computer can control, and it can, how much horsepower an electric motor can peak at, they can set it to exactly the limits of the ICE counterparts, which erodes their excuses for non-inclusion. Today, you see holdouts like "Stank Dog," racing on a two-stroke, but it's evident that he has a bike disadvantage. Ricky Carmichael put it best when he said that four-strokes are like "cheater bikes," that they are superior in almost every way. The same will be said about the electric bikes, but they are coming. Also, I think it would be naive for any of us not to assume that the major/big manufacturers already have electric prototypes they are working on, as they can see the writing on the wall. I believe electric dirt bikes will give privateers a fairer chance of a more even playing field (equal power and far, far less maintenance). I would buy and ride one... why not?
The big manufacturer don’t want e-bikes because they will have less parts to sell. It’s not good for them, not good for garages, not good for after market companies, not good for the fans that like noise, not good for people who likes working hours on their bikes and tuning. Personally i am 100% ok with less mecanic, $$$$ and more riding, but stark are getting on my nerves with lot of advertising and no deliveries, whoever fault it is.
@@mxriderdakar You are right. It's one of the reasons why I believe it will be good for privateers, who do not have factory money. There will still be apparel and plenty of aftermarket parts to buy for an electric bike... the industry is going to have to adjust. ICE mechanics will have to convert to electronics and computer expertise. You will still need suspension guys and other techs. I do not think this change will come fast. Stark does need to piss or get off the pot.
This completely glosses over the fact that the manufacturers and the AMA made 2 strokes irrelevant by way of the displacement rule. Despite this rule, it took nearly a decade for 4 stroke performance to eclipse that of smokers.

As a future Varg owner, I’m beyond jacked for this; as are the other owners. :) One question I’ve been wondering about that I haven’t seen brought up before is about a “heated jacket” style concept for us that live in colder areas that would limit the amount of riding time available. Similar to the heated jackets of Milwaukee (And others), that could wrap around and heat the motor and battery while riding in the cold. I would buy one. Just a thought for those listening. 😊
