When you don’t eat for a while, your body begins to use up the fuel available in your bloodstream.
As these supplies are depleted, your liver releases store glucose (glycogen) back into the bloodstream to maintain stable blood sugars. As glycogen stores are exhausted, your body uses a process known as ‘gluconeogenesis’ to convert protein and even fat to glucose to refill your liver. This critical process ensures that you always have some glucose available for explosive activity if required! It’s only when your glycogen stores are depleted-but not entirely exhausted-that your blood glucose starts dropping, and you finally begin pulling energy from stored body fat. Now, it takes less insulin to ‘hold’ your fat in storage. Well done, you! Whether you’re eating a high-fat or a high-carb diet, the key to burning stored body fat is having blood glucose levels return below your baseline, your Personal Hunger Trigger, before eating again.

@BarbaraBaker; it’s a work-in-progress, most definitely. Even this past three weeks I’ve been making adjustments and improvements, being careful to get in LOTS of non-starchy veggies, a solid dose of protein, and then to decide whether to add an energy / fuel source (either carbs or fats or both). On the 20th of March I was able to participate in a free week of group coaching with KJ York @JoyFulLifewithKJ; that week of being placed in a Marco Polo group with KJ’s admins and other ladies doing the free week of KJ’s coaching has been a huge blessing to me; it stands out as one of the best Trim Healthy Mama community experiences that I’ve had since finding THM in 2013.
