Just because it's not mainstream, doesn't make it underground.
I'd call something like DOROTHY underground, bands that really don't go on the radar that much. It's just that people who listen almost exclusively mainstream or don't listen to much music at all, tend to ignore metal as genre, along it's sub-genres and others.
