I started shooting with a gimbal and way overused it, I'm now discovering the beauty of static shots, handheld, and basic tripod fluid head shots.
Like the video showed its knowing when to use a gimble and when not to depending on what your looking to show the viewer. I personally like one take shots.
One will learn more from watching one Brandon Li video then watching 100 CZcams influencers videos.
Agree. Helps that Brandon has actually worked in productions, that’s not always true of other CZcamsrs
@@wikirascals Its never true with CZcamsrs. lol. They talk more about what they got then using it fully lol.
I agree
For me, static are (almost) always more cinematic. Great video as always, Brandon!
It’s a matter of how much more planning and control (and planning and control of lighting) is needed to create a “cinematic” move. Sometimes a pan head on a tripod or a slider:dolly adds a geometry that makes it a lot easier to gaff
Brandon is the 🐐 of gimbal shots. Like you know a video was shot by Brandon before knowing it was shot by Brandon. Amazing dynamic shots you don't see anywhere else.
We are so immersed today with the dynamic shots in gimbal everything just energetically flows, it's positively chaotic, a buzzing. I think watching static film with just compositions is therapeutic to the soul. Last nigh I watch Legends of the Fall studying how to make videos, I did not even finished the movie since it was two straight hours but I woke up vey calm and feeling good and positive. I felt life in a much beautiful sense. Then later in the afternoon it went back to the buzzing gimbal like phased of our present and most accepted perspectives. I believe the experience was worthy to take note. This video is a good upload, thanks.
you are ABSOLUTELY right! I have shot food and restaurant videos for almost a decade now. The static close-up is my HAVE-TO then I would use the gimbal and slider for revealing the restaurant's atmosphere OR to follow my character.
Brandon, I you are the best !
This gimbal drift that nobody talks about, that tips about moving environmental touch in gimbal shots, the gimbal movement perfectly described and your famous tripod hack 🤣
There is so much value in your videos, and I wish to see always more of it 😊
Thank you 🙏✨
He is king of the gimble world. Also enjoy he never tries to sell you things.
With a gimbal stabilizer small tripod it works for me on travel 🥰 thanks Brandon Li ✨👏🎥
Thank you for showing both views side-by-side, really helps visualize what is happening.
Binge watching your videos right now. Learning SO much! The Morocco creations ....off the charts!
the way you describe something is so straight to the thing, fast and concentrate. no fancy talk, no intro, no bullshit like many other channel. save me a lot of time
subcribed in just the first 2 minutes watching
True Gimbal God does it again. Such pure gems of wisdom yet again in this tutorial. If only I could afford Brandon’s filmmaking class…
Some other things you didn't mention:
- Tripods can pan and tilt.
- Lenses can be manually zoomed on a tripod - not so on a gimbal, unless you have a full steady-cam system.
- Even simple dollies allow camera movement on a tripod.
- A tripod never has dead batteries.
Also it’s not a competition between tripods and gimbals :-)
I think there is an overdose of gimbal.
I find static shoot more cinematic and interesting
Thank you for everything you put out there for us Brandon, it goes truly appreciated !
You are the only content creator in this world who teaches gimbal lessons such easily.. Thank you very much
The film is great. The explanation is even better with a lot of inspiring ideas. Thanks Brandon.
Hi Brandon! I am just a random Swede who wants to thank you for your videos. They are not just informative. They are inspirational. After watching this i just want to get out and make a movie! Please let me follow you for a couple of hours when you work!! 😄
I’ve only just found your videos and I’m hooked. I love your work 🏆🏆🏆🏆
An awesome and useful tutorial! I sometimes do not know what gimbal mode should I use in order to achieve certain shot effect. Your explanation is easy to understand and crystal clear. Thanks Brandon!
The best gimbal tutorial I've watched so far, thank you so much for the valuable lessons!
Fantastic work Brandon...you always deliver GREAT content!! Thank you!
The Best teachers show you where to look, but don't tell you what to see. 🙌🙌🙌
Surprisingly I liked the static shot more on almost every shot
the final part, i never thought that tripod can be used like this
Thank you for these tips Brandon! Your instruction on gimbal modes and when/why to use them was very helpful. Also, appreciate your advice on using a tripod. Love the hack!! I use a tripod frequently and will give this "hack" technique a try!
Am very much pleased with your work brandon, and have learnt so many things from your videos keep it up with the same spirit
Great examples. I think a mixture of both is best.
I always find time to watch you videos brandon. Very informative as always. Thank you 🙏
Great stuff Brandon! Really enjoy your tutorials
Thanks for the video! I plan to buy my first gimbal and will likely be rewatching this video multiple times! Subscribed
Great tip, I'll be in BKK in a few weeks. I'll check it out. By the way, would be an honor to get to meet you, you're one of my favourite CZcamsrs for this kind of topic.
I swear I'm no psycho stalker or serial killer ;) Greetings from Vienna!
Great video Brandon! Thanks for sharing! Now I want a small gimbal like that!
I don’t catch all of Brandon’s videos but I’d be curious about the most challenging shots - shots sync’s with audio/voice - which is why so much video (especially using smartphones) is rarely shown… getting a good dialogue scene is really the challenge (starting with the fact that most attractive actors never bother to learn how to SPEAK well… unless trained in Great Britain)
Thank you, Brandon for your great filmmaking tips. I mostly use a tripod with the wide angle lens and film in higher resolution with higher FPS. If I need a static close up shot or a moving shot, I use dynamic zoom in Davinci Resolve at the post production. It seems to work most of the time for a wedding or event videography.
Wedding or events are easier to shoot then shooting what this video is showing. Weddings is about capturing peoples emotions and often they are already moving or talking. There is no direction needed or setting up a scene
Its such a pleasure to watch your video, not just to learn film making like I'm doing, but overall, the tipps, the video it self, great. I bought some online learning courses, but I still come back to watch your videos!
Thank you.
By the way, do you have a film making course?
Beat regards out of Austria!
Very good information
Thanks a lot
I love a Brandon Li video. So much goodness packed in!!
Awesome stuff as always Brandon, thank you.
Awesome video in addition to your "film school" videos! Do you like the Ulanzi tripod? I love how you mounted the DJI mini rs3 onto of it!! That's a win win. Thank you!
Brandon Again you nailed it spot on. Usefull tips with the gimbal
Thanks Brandon for this great video! You are always inspiring me.
❤❤❤
Great video as always my friend 👏 I am 55 and I have several gimbals but for me a tripod is the most important puzzle 😅
helpful as always - thanks for the tutorials!
I've learned some much watching your video, thanks again Brandon.
great model... excellent subject for videography plus she follows instructions so well.
Great tips thank you Brandon!
Excellent tips! I really enjoyed the video and have learned a lot!

The master of the masters. The Jedi, the king, el patron, el jefe. Mr. Brandon li 🔥🔥🔥
Very informative, thanks
Thank you, Brandon. The tripod hack killed me instantly!!! I'll do it in my next music video shoot.
Your content is soo good that I clicked like before it even started to play! :)
I use both techniques. Brandon great video
Great video. Really helpful tips
Brandon your tutorials are always fire and the movement is so smooth.. but how come the video quality is always so bad??
Very nice as usual Brandon.
Thanks so much!
I'm Enjoying Watching from Philippines.
Nice content .and very informative one.....
Bless You Always 😘😘🥰🥰🥰
Amazing content! For gimbal work, do you recommend camera stabilization on or off. I have the FX30. Thanks.
Amazing!!!📷
Please also try to share your camera settings too. Tnx for the video
Nice! thanks bro
Always interesting, informative and engaging, O master of the ninja walk. How you get smooth trucking shots (sideways dolly while ninja walking) is beyond me - but you do. My legs are wrongly arranged to accomplish it; I guess it's why I bought a Segway Mini-Pro years ago - it serves well, tho not in coffee shops; mostly use it to get the mail and throw out the trash - alas, no cinematic scenes enroute.
Fantastic video!!! Question: in the last couple of examples, was your camera set to autofocus?
Looooove this vidéo!!! Thx!
Excellent!
amazing as always
thanks for share, this very nice tecnique
Great video
Harikasın Brandon 🎥
Wonderful!✌️
I prefer the mechanic gimball, that way you evite the pan that electronic gimball's do, also I prefer walk straight to the lateral shot. If you could tell me and advice of why you do to the other way I be thankful.
thanks for the tripod hack!
been thinking aboout getting that 28-200mm tamron
This video is very usefull 🙏
beautiful model and talented model
G'Day mate, great video. Have you done or can you please share (step by step) how to sync the Panasonic Lumix S5 II with the DJI RS3 Mini gimble, as I have just purchased both & for the life of me I can't get the camera & gimble to work together.... :( I am very knew to all this & would greatly appreciate any assistance to enjoy these awesome pieces of equipment.... :)
3:41 the struggle is real. ahahah. Great content. Thanks
Love that Tripod Hack!
great video!
Very interesting. I have a Nikon D7500, I'm amateur photographer and I'm getting started on video. Do you think I should buy a camera that has focus tracking? My Nikon is very bad to change focus, etc. So I used it in manual mode always.
Hi.does rs3's mini base plate, which is screwed at the bottom of the camera , fit on the ulanzi tripod / arca swiss if someone wants to change fast from gimbal to tripod (without the whole gimbal like u did). ?
Bruh, I film on an A7iii and an RS2 and never ever ever in my life have I got shots that smooth. Are you stabilising in post and if so how? Also love that tripod/gimbal quick release thing you've gt going on. What is that? I've wanted something like that for weddings but could find anything
i also want to know this!
Solid
One Question am new to gimbal , whichever mode am on follow or pan should I open all the axis locks or should it be locked
Hey Brandon. Do you recommend getting Tamron 28-75 F2.8 G2 lens ?
Hey Brandon, can you tell me something about the Videosettings you are using? Shutterspeed, Aperture etc. Thanks!
When Brandon speaks you listen
You're the king of gimbal
Hi Brandon, great channel. I want to buy a Sony camera for video and photography. I am interested in the the newish A7R V and would really like to see a video about this camera from you. Is it "prime time" or not yet ready to replace your camera? I have a small CZcams channel with about 1000 viewers focusing on local city events and disaster preparedness and want to step up my video production. Thanks for your time.
Thanks for the tip on using PF and turning the speed of the gimbal to slow. I've noticed that as well - locking the gimbal doesn't always produce the desired result due to drift. Will have to try PF and slow speed next!
I find that when I use a gimble am limited compared to the moments when I use the tripod or the hands so I am taking time to practice the more to also become creative with the gimble
I love static camera
Static & smooth handheld camera moves are the best looking for me Great video mate!
BTS guy did a good job filming as well :)
Random question, for the fx3 should I get Ron in rs3 or rs3 pro? Is there a difference?
