That trailer definitely looks like a great investment! Our f250 dump truck can only hold 1 ton safely and confidently, so something like this would definitely come in handy in our company's future. Great video! It's always fun to change up the normal work schedule 👍🏻
At the rate you two are going you'll have a dump trailer or larger dump truck in no time!! My dump trailer has a 5.5 ton capacity. Far more than my F350 dump truck I got rid of. Being able to haul materials for other contractors is a lot of fun. It gets me out on other job sites to see what they're up to.
@@tylerpatterson1267 your level of confidence and definition of safety could be different than theirs. Nothing wrong with erring on the side of caution. More weight is harder to slow down or stop in the event of an emergency. Do you do a lot of snow removal services? It isn't something I get into much at all here in central NC
@@tylerpatterson1267 We've carried 2 tons in our truck, but we will never do it again. It's important to consider stress on your suspension and braking system, less control of the vehicle, going over the legal hauling weight, the weight your tires are recommended for, and premature wear. We would much rather add in the additional trip to the rock yard in our job costing, than add any unwanted accidents when hauling. Safety is our #1 priority. All preference though, we just hold too much value in the work and time that it took to be able to purchase our truck.
Mitchell's Lawn Care LLC that’s fair. I’m in Maine. Snow removal is a huge part of what we do. Our 1 tons have 3-4 yards of salt on them, and my half ton has 1.5 ton or so. And that’s fair, what each person is willing to do is up to them. Just stating that today’s modern trucks are capable of much more than they say they’re “rated” for in my opinion. I have absolutely no problem stopping. But to each their own!
I have a 2015 f250, power stroke and YES I fill it up every other day it seems like, I pull a enclosed trailer and a 6 1/2 by 12 dump trailer for my lawncare business, that’s a lot of weight u have there!! I just got my dump trailer about a month ago and I really haven’t broke it in yet!

What kind of truck are you using? Do you think a gas or diesel is better for hauling a dump trailer? Trying to figure out if I should do a gas or diesel. I like working on my own trucks and know nothing about servicing diesel engines. Thanks!
I wouldn't run a diesel unless it's an old one pre '08 with no major emissions shit on it, or a new one with warranty. Gasser will get horrible mileage, but won't cost huge money when it has problems, and won't have as much downtime.

Hey bud, definitely do your research and visit as many trailer dealers as you can. I can't speak on brand because I don't know what is offered around you. Pay close attention to the gauge of steel used on the floor and walls; too thin of metal is no good. Mine is a 14ft Midsota 15,400 GVWR w/ 24" sides. If I had to do it all over again I would've upgraded to the 48" sides. The taller sides make it much easier to haul debris without have to custom build wood sides. If you can spare the extra money definitely go for the hydraulic tongue jack.
I'll start with I'm in Ontario, Canada. If we are working we can't tow anything more than 10,000 lbs with our regular license. Here we have a G license for the everyday driver, D license for 56,000 lbs and an A license for the tractor trailers. Even a guy with a D license can't tow anything over 10,000 lbs. Than there is the Z endorsement for air brakes. A few years ago they came up with an AR license that will allow you to tow over 10,000 lbs without having to get the Z. A lot of landscapers here go buy a dump trailer and than get caught overweight without the correct license. Do you have something similar or can you tow that trailer with your normal license?

My dump trailer is rated for 14,000 and my f350 has the beefed up factory weight rating of 11,500 . total is 25,500. As I understand it , if I drove my truck with a gooseneck dump trailer of the same make as mine, it has a weight rating of slightly over 15,000 plus my truck with the 11,500 would make it 26,500. I would legally need a CDL to drive it empty ( no cargo) down the highway because of the combined weight RATINGS being over 26001 pounds. I’ve read where people have their trailers down rated ( taking what was a 15,000 pound trailer for example and having it down rated to a 14,000 pound to skirt the law). I think in any instance , you have to be using it in a commercial application. Private use doesn’t count. If I am wrong, someone please correct this. This is how it was explained to me when I bought my trailer.

Get a real dump truck 😂13 tons in the box, 11 tons in the pup. I work for the county though so no side jobs for me. If your going to be doing this regularly, best advice I could get is do not get to the quarry at opening time. As you saw there is a line there usually. Best to wait an hour or two after they open and it won't be so busy.

Why in the Sam hell would you buy it by the cubic yard that shit goes by the ton that's how they buy it.. you never buy that at a landscape company go to the gravel pit and be done with it cheaper !
If i wanted gravel pit dirt I would've bought gravel pit dirt. The dirt was delivering in this video was screen top soil and it's only available at certain places where I live. Don't forget that regions other than where you are operate differently. Also, quality is of the utmost importance to my clients. Dirt that is sold at the city landfill or "gravel pit" as you say it is trash dirt. It is LOADED with sticks, sand and other crap that makes for crappy top soil. Maybe things are different where you live, but that's how it's done here.

@@travelinthru9519 I think the opposite of what you are saying is true to be honest, buying a cubic yard you know how much you are getting as opposed to by the ton when that can vary so much depending on moisture, and cubic yard quantity is way easier to figure out than tonnage when doing quick measurements

That’s what brought me here. In my mind, I can visualize a yard whether it’s dirt or gravel . I can’t visualize a ton. Looking for an answer in this. I only have landscape supply yards near me not quarries. If it’s just a cost by weight thing than I have no choice. I’d rather say give me 6 yards then have to know what every material weight is summer and winter.

@@Ekeenan86 the trailer is carrying the weight not the truck. Your 2500 most likely has the same engine as the 3500. The only difference is your suspension. Your tongue weight will be rated the same on the trailer. So you can pull the same amount. It’s your cargo (truck bed) weight that will be different.

You can put a lot more than 1 yard on a 3/4 ton.. I run over 1.5 ton in the back of my half ton all winter with a sander and plow on the front.

2019 Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins. Diesel has more pulling power in my honest opinion

Way more strict where you are it seems. With a normal license a driver can operate a vehicle (or vehicle with trailer) weighing up to 26,000lbs.
Actually there is no weight restrictions on a D other than the trailer. As long as you have airbrakes you could go drive a 90,000 concrete pumper

25 tons is 50k no 2500 can do that my 3500 can do 16tons and it’s almost maxed out 1 ton is 2K
If you watch the video you will see it was done in multiple loads. Didn’t say it was in one load.
