  • Hauled 3 loads on a fall Saturday Morning. Then I swung by a property to pick up some fallen limbs to get ready for a bonfire.

      That's true! I would have liked to have quoted a complete re-work of this drive including ripping & re-grading with my skid steer, but they only wanted a load of gravel for now to save money. Maybe something will come in the spring! Thanks for watching!

      Yeah, all that organic matter, leaves cones etc, should have been swept or raked off that driveway first. Could've told the customers they might have done it themselves. Don't think i would have posted this video-

    Well that works great. Does the remote for the dump trailer reach the cab? Just wondering if one person can dump and drive at the same time.

    • @NealORussa
      @NealORussa  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey mike! The trailer came with a cord that was long enough to reach the drivers seat if you had your arm out the window. I installed a wireless remote setup and that's the only way to go! So yes it is a one man show. Thanks for the comment!

      @@featheredcoyote5477 I wired up a cheap winch controller to mine. You’d need to use either relays or diodes (I used diodes) so one way you trip the up solenoid and the motor relay, and the other way trips the down valve and the motor relay.

    Could you tell me about where you set your metering chains and your travel speed when your tailgating stone

    • @NealORussa
      @NealORussa  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey Philip thanks for the comment! It depends on different types of rock. I count the # of chain links for different types. For the rock i mainly haul, KY #57's, I set it on the 10th link, which opens my gate about 3.5" at the bottom. For smaller clean rock, KY 67's, I use 9 links, which is about an inch shorter. Speed wise, i'm moving along at a fast walking pace. Spreading well graded material with rock & fines like Dense Grade or IN 53's, you have to open the gate more, like 12 links, and drive really fast. If the gate is shut too close, the fines and rock pack in there and nothing comes out. But when its open that wide you gotta be moving fast.

    What size dump trailer you using and how many tons was used in the first property. I had a ole c60 dump truck but sold it to get another dump trailer. I’m thinking about a 7x12 dump

    • @NealORussa
      @NealORussa  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey there, it is a 7'x14' trailer. I haul 5 tons. A 7x12 would probably hold the same amount, just mounded higher. Make sure you get 2-7k lb axles. Some of the 7x12's have only 5k axles.

    • @ss454gm
      @ss454gm Před 2 lety +1

      I would just google search your city and state with the word "quarry". If that doesn't find it, call a local redimix plant or supplier and ask where they get their stone from.

    Loached maylocker using washed rock for concrete Should I use base

    • @NealORussa
      @NealORussa  Před 3 lety

      Hey there, I don't have anything against using clean stone for base under concrete slabs. I see it done a lot. Just make sure you have good drainage away from the slab. That clean stone allows water to travel through it and could lift when freezing. So just make sure to have a drain around the pad or slope dirt away from the pad.
