This video was originally shown on the World of Railways /BRM Virtual Model Railway Exhibition in March 2021. It explains how I made a long retaining wall on a higher level track on my layout.
Hi carol, Awesome video. I spent a while searching for a video on making retaining walls and finally found yours. You explained it perfectly and showed an easy and cheap way of doing it. I look forward to seeing more of your videos.
Thank you. I was (and always have been) keen to keep my costs downs during my build, and this one looks very effective. It even appeared in British Railway Modelling Magazine!!
@@CarolFlavinlocoladies I also love how you've added doctor who. I'm a huge fan and I inherited my dad's train set and he had a police box and I'm planning on having the doctor and Rose visit Grace town
Carol, love the way you show your layout. The way you how you interact with your grandkids on the expansion. How you explain you did your retaining walls. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Kev. Adding height solved a problem about adding a straighter track. Now we have a large loop that goes over all sorts of interesting bits of scenery 🙂
That’s a shame. The Metcalfe card models are really good and they do a lot of very easy to make buildings too. I usually do a lot of weathering as they always look too pristine. That’s my choice though.
It's great to see people of 'our age group' (!) making well produced, carefully planned and professionally presented 'how-to' videos. I'm guessing you have a teaching background? In any case you could certainly teach some younger 'creators' how to make a proper video!
Thanks for your comments. I enjoy making the videos and want to encourage people to take up this amazing hobby AND enjoy it. Oh and I always keep them below 10 minutes. I know how boring some videos can be, especially when they are too long and rambling. And yes, you are right, I was a teacher in the dim and distant past!

Hi Carol what a great video and layout thank you for sharing keep up the good work
Thanks Dennis. Appreciated.
Well explained, I'm about to re-do my own retaining wall. Will likely be using the Mercalf buiding papers and follow your tips.
Hope it goes well. It certainly worked for me.

Thank you. It has been a really good thing for me to do during lockdown but I am sure it shows how much I love railway modelling as well.
Great job looks good 😀👍
Thank you.
thanks for showing us Carol and they look very good in situ.
Cheers Kev

Very interesting product you used for your retaining wall, never seen this in Canada

Very good I do like the metcalfe and jarvis range
I agree. They both offer a lot of choice and are very adaptable.
