The Golden Gate Bridge was one of my favorite sights to see from the air as I flew back from my tour of Vietnam in May of 1969
Thanks for your service!
Guys colour the caps. Red for fuel, black for black water, grey for grey water and blue for fresh water. Problem solved. In order to save money and extend your range, it is perfectly normal to run on one engine at the time (if you are not in a hurry or in displacement mode as we say). this way you keep the engine hours to a minimum.
Or, switch the cap that says waste OFF of the water tank and put it onto the waste deck fitting? And, paint it black. LOL
Are all those deck fittings the same thread pitches and threads per inch, diameter holes? LOL
I love the example you are setting for our young people. Working through the challenges and a great work ethic.
Paint your deck fittings - Green for fuel, blue for fresh water, Black for poop, red for not in use.
Mountain Myst making waves. What a glorious sight.
You guys are absolutely amazing people. You conquer the impossible, by pushing through the hardest of obstacles. You are not afraid of hard work, taking risks and pursuing your dreams. You have helped an old man have faith in humanity again. The boat is such a beautiful vessel now that all the live has been poured into it. Thank you for sharing
Except for when Billy pooped the water tank..
@@thereader7776 Nobody is perfect and if that is the worst thing he did then so be it.....Chlorine Dioxide or Sodium Hydroxide....
@@MaMa-st2eg Hahaha Nobody's perfect and if you're going to screw up Go Big 🤣🤣🤣 Poop in the water tank 🤣🤣
The Marine Version of an Upper Decker...
i literally restored a 30ft sailboat on my own two years ago and even posted videos if you want to check them out
my wife and I just got into watching your channel.
we must say we are very impressed.
you guys rock 100%
thanks for all your hard work.
You definitely can be proud of this moment and all of what you have accomplished. Some day when you are old and grey the two of you can say remember that time we ….. Congratulations
You two are so fun... 😅thanks for sharing your life adventure with all of us .
Motoring north on that coast is no joke, I'm glad the boat is in good shape for the passage!!
I didn't realize you folks were in Alameda. I now live in Palo Alto for 3 years and from Boynton Beach FL. Have a great trip up north..!!!!
Right near Astoria there is a small town called ilwaco... cheapest fuel we've found for diesel... we are docked in Warrenton... let us know and we'll come say hi with our 48 ft
Y'all are crushing it...hopefully you make a good bit of cash on all your hard work fixing Mountain Mist up. Can't wait to see the new catamaran!
Please recheck all the hoses seawater exchange. I know someone almost lost his boat . A hose failed and started filling the engine room fast.
Lucky he was able clamp off the hose. In time, then let the Blige pump drain the engine room.
Yes he had a huge corrosion problem. But he saved his self and the boat.
After watching you for years, you two are the cutest, sweetest couple on utube of my favourite channels. Got bless you for your future travels xx
Sounds like it might be wise advice to fill that front water tank that you got confused with with water and then pump it out clean because I’m sure it’s got some funkiness in there from over the years
Yes fuel is much cheaper in Oregon, plus there is no sales tax.
I'm looking forward to the trip north! Nice job on the boat. Somebody's getting really lucky with that one.
Cool seeing the path your leaving on, made that trip many times while on board the USS William H Stanley CG-32 back in the 80's. Hope you have a safe trip. Cheers!
Chasing your Dreams! You guys actually woke up from your dreams and made it happen!! Congrats! Safe travel!
Paint the water fill caps blue, the waste caps brown, and the diesel caps yellow or green.
Thanks for sharing !
THE BOAT TURNED OUT QUITE NICE. THE HARD WORK REALLY PAID OFF.
Best $100 boat. Congrats...
Help your old diesels which suffer with current fuel by adding some MYSTERY OIL, which lubricates fuel system, also improves mileage. I use about 1/2 pint per 20 gallons in my 1st gen 12v cummins.
You're brave going up the coast in December! Hope the weather is good for your voyage.
I believe this was filmed some months ago...
A little behind are they? Looking forward to them being up near me in the northwest anyway
Congratulations guys, you two are very impressive and the boat has been transformed. Happy sailing, peace and love from the UK
i literally restored a 30ft sailboat on my own two years ago and even posted videos if you want to check them out
No doubt y'all worked so hard on that boat, but do you really have regrets? I thought it was awesome seeing a lot of the work being done. Such a sense of accomplishment, plus you've got bank in that boat.
I'm not sure how I would've handled putting the poop hose in the water tank or having a gas pump shut off on me because I spent too much money. This was a great video. Better days ahead.
Stay cool. Br.Itd eI stopped production and winterized
Main thing to hear spare on we had on board. For engine. Good job .
a label would be nice. paint the cap red for poop and blue for water. too easy to lose the diagram.
yellow for diesel
After fueling I now understand why sail boats are popular for people who spend many months on board. The boat looks great, I hope next video is the last of the “old boat blues” for a while.
I would have loved to see y'all shake down in the California delta before heading North. Also ask me about the benefits of electric back up fuel pumps on those Lehmans! Y'all are awesome!
Sure is good to see y'all leave the boat yard
I saw someone one time that took a pan you put under a washing machine, put artificial grass inside and hooked lines to it on 2 corners. Their dog would use it, and they would dunk it overboard to wash it off and put it back on their deck for the next use.
Jetty clearly loves the new boat!❤
put the color next to each refuel open, like red next to the fuel and light blue next to the water. and disconect the oid ones
Clipper Cove had a few wrecks a few yrs back that are known to steal anchors. Looked like you were just east and south of the bad spots. Have a safe trip.
What the two of you have done to save this classic vessel is amazing and appreciated!Even though I will never lay my eyes directly upon this vessel or set foot on her decks,Thank you all of your hard work and dedication.Merry Christmas Tula’s Endless Summer!
Very nice that you are embarking on a months long shakedown cruse.
Great job on the boat. The only recommendation is when you say it, you ought to say it like Dave Chappelle, Sannnn Frrrrann Siscoooooooo. LOL 😂. 👍🙏😎✌️
You know you've done an amazing job saving this boat when it looks soooooo beautiful from far away! Congrats on all of your hard work. Enjoy the west coast!
Awesome wrap-up of this huge project! Fair winds and following seas... 🙂
Love and light to both of you. Happy to see the success story come true. You saved a piece of history. The boat will outlive both of you.
👀.....👀.......👀
So many beautiful looks...congratulations to the three of you for all the hard work, it has paid itself off lol that was just breathtaking to watch I can only imagine what thats like.
If you take the price of Sails, rigging, standing and running over 10 years compared to fuels. MV is less than SV depending on how far you travel. Most people spend 90% time on anchored
You guys are awesome. Love the content. Me and my fiance live up here in the Pacific Northwest. Huge fans of your channel. You'll love it up here in the Puget sound.
Seafaring Mainer here! God Bless you both. You are truly living the dream! May you have calm seas and fair skies!
You two have done a wonderful job with this boat
Fuel costs. Not sure what the total costs were that you were getting at for the whole trip but, It would cost about 250 -300 bucks to drive an F150 one way for the distance your going, so compare that with costs of hotels, restaurants, drinks out etc. So then after that enters the calculation it costs you maybe 400 bucks to go by boat? Not bad in my books!! Enjoy life and while you have to worry at all times of life, there will be lots of time to worry about things when you're 80 and in a rocking chair, lol. Enjoy life like you're doing. Good job.
You are going to see some rough seas as you travel north. The boat is very seaworthy, but it is a trawler, and they are known for their rockin' an rollin'. Had a close friend who had a very beautiful 42' Grand Banks, very similar to your boat.
We made many trips to Catalina together in preparation for his voyage to San Francisco from Redondo Beach.
He made the trip and upon his return sold the boat. The seas were very challenging, and he said he'd never have another trawler. Couldn't take the lack of cruising speed and rolling nature of the boat. The boat made the trip safely and economically.
I like fast boats and sail boats. Trawlers are great live abroad and intercoastal cruisers, in my opinion.
Your boat should be great for where you're going. Getting there will be more of a test. Be safe and have some sea sick meds.
Congratulations !! Boat is looking nice.....
Have learned so much from you both! This old dog is working to make a big change in life and become a live aboard Cat' owner. Lots to learn and go but thanks for being a positive motivator! Be well! Andy
Good luck to you as you make the change to life aboard your boat! Us old dudes need to take on new challenges to keep life interesting and it sounds like your embracing the next phase !!
I’m impressed.testing all systems prior to departure.it’s a tough trip to Washington.not many places to duck in in case of bad weather.you got this !
Fair winds ⛵️
That boat is so nice I always wanted one to live on
It’s all about the “next challenge”. Happy New Year!
Thank You
Welcome back to the great northwest! Stay safe and stay warm. You should get some orca sightings this time.
The boat looks great!!
I bet the wind will have a big effect on your gas mileage. Maybe if you only motored on days when the wind was a beam or behind you would help fuel economy since the boat is like a big sail!
Second mate right. Happy wife happy life. I truly envy you. That's your back up. Never forget that.
Label, label, label. Find ways to permanently label each of the deck ports so fill/drain mistakes are not made in the future. A diagram is not enough, there needs to be a label on each port. Accidentally contaminating your water source could create massive issues
Well done
Fun to watch
I jumped ahead to see new vid . Your on the way..cool. now back to 6yrs of old catch up. Nice here in fl now rest of country white christmas
100% agree that it's a big and dangerous coast line. I've never traveled the US coast but the west coast of Vancouver Island is all part of it and not to be taken lightly. The fog banks come in fast and he sea kicks up to huge proportions. But you guys know the Atlantic well and your years of experience should get you through. Barring mechanical problems that is. Smooth cruising and Merry Christmas to you two. And Jetty.
So neat following you on the West coast. I know you miss the sunny South. Safe travels.
Smashing the thumbs-up for the $100 boat project!
Thank you for sharing
Congratulations!!! Yes! I have been travelling several days south to Louisiana, Mississippi, FL. When I meet a sailor, all of em know Tula. (I'd be sailing now too, but Lake Erie is freezing). Hope you will be at 2023 Annapolis!. Safe travels.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thanks
I love the adventure.
I’m glad you’re out enjoying all your hard work, you guys did do a good job, wishing you the best of luck merry Christmas
paint numbers on the caps and make a diagram so there is no mistake in future
Jetty is one lucky dog.
You two are amazing, Billy is a complete do it yourself mechanic electrician plumber. And Sierra your a machine and such a amazing partner to Billy. The boat looks amazing.
Mmmm. Teasing me with that humpback whale footage. Good move. 😊 You know I love Whales. Many blessings 😌🥃👍
Very cool!
That's awesome.
If you took off north up the coast in early December, that is when the crab or lobster season begins (typically around 12/10). In northern California you would have seen many boats at night each one with with search lights. Nice video. It's a little surprising how big that boat is.
She gets you back on the water till your new boat is ready and you should make a fast sale on this you’ve documented and done a awesome job
Love the video, what fun looking for more fun videos ............
Cool vibes
Hi guys. Great job on the boat. Suggest changing the deck fittings to ensure you don't contaminate drinking water. Not a good idea to make the crew sick.
Thank you for all this years videos. How I envy you your courage to do what you do. Happy Christmas and an even better 2023.
Great job you two, now reap the benefits of your hard labors! Enjoy
Brilliant job guys really
Super! Your pup needs a buddy!
My co-workers think I'm crazy! I'm cracking up over "poop tube in our water tank"!!
🎉🎉 Congrats on moving your boat to anchor!! ⚓Huge Accomplishment!! 🎉🎉🍾🥳 So incredibly proud of you both & your determination!! Great job!! 👏💪
Love that Jetty is livin the dream life...there she is seeing the Golden Gate Bridge for the very first time!! Beautiful sight!! 🌉💙🐾🦴
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Reminds me of me at your age. Great fun times! Wear a life inflation vest!
Sure hope the fuel tanks are clean.
I've watched these last three videos and bawled every time. I lived 20+ years just a few blocks away from where you were in the marina & for years we had our sailboat across the estuary & down a bit. Would love to have hosted you. But even as I was excited for your adventure up the coast (orcas, shellfish, selling MM!), I reminded myself that my new ocean free home has a pool & is part of our ultimate plan to live cheaper & retire to the Caribbean someday soon. But fun to see the old neighborhood in the background. The harbormaster there doesn't have the best reputation, but you got a good location.
You are (were) coming to Puget Sound. Cool!
RADAR!? Did you consider a Furuno 1st watch radar that uses your IPad for a display. Around $1000 and very easy to install and use…..and it’s new and not a used unit from ebay😊
Maybe making some tags to mount next to the different fills or drains on the deck to tell someone what the fill or drain is for.
Well done you guys ⛵ happy cruising.
Used to have a j24 in alameda and would always go to jack London dock
