I dunno, his shtick was borderline Ugly American. I love Guga and have been subbed since the very early SVE days, but not even doing the bare minimum to learn key phrases in Japanese, how to order ramen on the ticket machine, or navigate Tokyo's mass transit (it's super easy and literally every destination was translated and obvious in the shots he showed) left me disappointed. To anyone thinking of going, the Japanese people respond incredibly positive to even the smallest effort to speak their language and conform to their norms. It's my favorite place on Earth and made even better with a tiny bit of prep and a healthy dose of respect.

A4 and A5 tenderloin was sold at a premium, it seemed to be the cut everyone wanted (unsurprisingly), but it was still less than half of the cost in the US.

About the egg price, Japan is amidst an egg crisis right now. Their diet is very egg-heavy, and due to the recent bird flu outbreak, the supply is super low.
For example, Kewpie, their largest mayo manufacturer, is importing eggs all the way from Brazil because that was the most cost effective reliable way to get enough supply for them.

It's cool that you got the opportunity to go to Japan to enjoy their food and experience their culture, even if you got confused along the way. By the way, if you see this, I hope you will try to recreate this recipe from the anime One Piece called the "Meat on the Bone"
Basically, you take 4 chicken drumsticks, cut and push up the meat from the bone inside out on each one, set them aside, soak 1/4 cup of panko breadcrumbs in 3 tablespoons of milk and set it aside too, take 18 oz/500 grams of ground chicken, season it with salt, pepper, garlic powder, a bit of cayenne pepper for a slight kick, mix it together with a whole egg for structural integrity, some vegetable oil, and the milk/breadcrumb mixture, put a hardboiled egg in the center of each chicken drumstick, surround the drumsticks with the ground chicken mixture, and bake them at 400°F for 15-20 minutes.
If you do see this comment and make a video on it, I hope you and whoever you eat it with enjoys it! And if 4 is too many, cut the recipe in half to make 2 servings of the Meat on the Bone instead!
I am being quite persistent with this one, and will continue to be no matter how long it takes!

When I went to Japan, tried ordering ice cream of 2 different flavor together as 1. but some how it went as separate and the bill was huge. I was speechless and had the smily face on while the girls in the shop were singing while preparing my ice cream, and in my mind I was like how am I gonna tell my dad that I bought ice cream for more than 1k Yen 😂
