My diagnosis when I left my last psychiatric hospital 8 years ago. Bi polar disorder, major depression, panic and anxiety disorders, insomnia, OCD, was a bad cutter and had a mini stroke at 29. Leaving the hospital prescribed 9 different medications when I left there. Currently taking absolutely no medication other then medical marijuana. First psychiatric hospital at 12 years old. Now 8 years later I’m 75 pounds lighter am probably in my best physical and mental health in my life. Changed all of my diet number one thing was sugar to start. Changed the music that I listen to ( very important aspect for me personally). Work out when I get home from work just about every day for about an hour also ride a bike for one to two hours 3 nights a week usually. Everything in my life is trying to find the positive in every situation and keep positive people around me at all times. People on the same frequency will help boost your intuition and drive you to stay the course. Are there setbacks absolutely but the I don’t let it get to me as it did previously. This is not boosting or bragging this is a story of having hope and putting my health number one before anything or anyone else. My relationship with my children’s mother is wonderful and we work together to make sure both of our children are being guided in the right direction. Knowing that I’m a strong minded and confident person for the first time in my life feels amazing. I’m not well off and I will never appreciate money but I work hard and have a good job that pays my bills and makes sure our children are taken care of. Don’t give up and stay out of the darkness. Get into the sun and love your family and friends as much as you can. Put god back in your hearts or whatever higher power works for you because what you put in your mind and body will spit back out in every aspect. Sorry for the rant but I want people to not loose hope and trust your intuition and always follow your heart. Dr Berg you and Dr Mandell are saving people’s lives and giving us all hope to look forward to tomorrow not to mention giving us all knowledge on how to heal ourselves. Thank you Dr from the bottom of my heart. Thank you and God bless you all and your families.

Wanted to hear more about the diet aspect but I'm still "in the trenches" at age 42 unemployed and single with not much opportunity on the horizon at present. Inner work is something I can do and I now probably have to do OMAD, 2MAD, fasting etc. to maintain a lower weight and keep my mind and body in a better place.

Your children are fortunate you are finding your way out of the darkness. As a child, I was not as fortunate. As an adult, my childhood still haunts me. This is a prime case of how our diets not only affect our health, but also our frame of mind. Your children are fortunate you found your way out naturally. You are helping your children and future grand children with this nutritional information.

@HelloBarbara777 Wim Hof's method is super energizing, improves health and is probably mood boosting but I'm not sure if it's naturally calming because it's fast. Whereas deep and slow is very calming and also energizes. Although it probably doesn't energize as fast as Wim Hoff. The full focus on the breath makes the breathing into a meditation so it enhances the power because full focus on the breathing takes you out of thinking. Takes you out of the mind to some extent which is healing and empowering.

I was diagnosed with bipolar from a very young age. I was on strong doses of atypical antipsychotics, lithium, and lamictal. Going sugar free, low carb, and gluten free have made all of my bipolar symptoms disappear entirely. I have been off of medication for about 3 years without relapse. If I eat sugar or a lot of carbs, I feel completely manic, and my thinking becomes disordered. I have MTHFR mutations on both of my chromosomes, which predisposes me to many endocrine/metabolic disorders. Through keto, I was able to completely reverse my Hashimoto's thyroiditis and the mood stability was just a bonus.

If I eat junk for more than 3 days I wont be able to sleep. and fasting has changed my life in countless ways. Honestly, back then I never would have believed in a million years i would be comfortable in my own skin. Thats the sad part, no one believes they can get better and listens to the medical doctors.

@@Dedicated_.1 It depends greatly, But the episodes nowadays, since I learned all this knowledge and applied it, are not nearly as bad as they where growing up. They where a living nightmare, and much more frequent. All the time actually. Sometimes fun and creative, but sometimes extreme anxiety or depression. Like pacing all night with racing thoughts, impossible to keep a relationship, EXTREMELY reckless behavior, like consuming enough drugs and alcohol to kill me because i did not care if i wake up or not. ...Most of them went away from fasting/diet/natural soaps etc, but I still have scars from burning and cutting myself. It was insane. People see my creative side, or the fun to be around side, but not the pain & anguish behind the curtain. We hide it. No one would know that we need help. A lot of sense in what you are saying Dr Berg, I went from being a quick study able to retain 90-95% of what I studied to having to restudy something 4-5 times to do the same. It got so bad I could not recall 90% of the people I had known over the past ten years and peripheral neuropathy (drop foot) as well as chronic inflammation of the alimentary canal. I cut right back on carbs, started taking supplements (b1 and brewers yeast included in this), and am coming right again, slowly but surely. I also started taking kimchi and saurkraut for the gut health and eating a lot of fish; so using a lot of the points you bring up in this video has definitely helped. PS. not a big fan of psych labels as their success rate is pretty dismal.

    Right on target 🎯
The treatments I witnessed in behavioral health as an RN was criminal. People in crisis would be admitted for evaluation and be alert and oriented on the first day and confused, scared, and disoriented asking me for help 24 hours later.
Look at the chart and, lo and behold, the “doctor” had them started on 2-3 psych meds. It was disgusting.
Stress, trauma, sleep deprivation, gut imbalances, diet are the root cause of changes in behavior.
Having personally experienced multiple traumas and chronic stress, I understand these mechanisms more clearly.
The GMO’s, glyphosate, and poison food additives have greatly augmented the gut problems with microbiome imbalances and inflammation.
Fix the gut and you fix the brain and everything else.
Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

The body produces it but if it gets depleted for some reason many different mental/brain disorders can begin. My daughter has been dealing with depression, OCD, anxiety and intrusive thoughts for years and after only a few days of adding inositol she is better for the first time in years, no more intrusive thoughts! After going through COVID-19 last Autumn my boyfriend (33 y. old, sportsman, businessman and a very strong and healthy person) got a very severe psychosis which symptoms have been same to bipolar disorder. He could go out of the car window or see a witch in the woman from the neighbourhood, he thought consantly that he is being followed, he couldn't sleep for 3 weeks straight, not even a minute. He refused getting help from the doctors, hospital, ge threw up any medicine that I would try to give him. This was a nightmare. I was calling psychisatrists, and got no actual help.
The turning point was when my boyfriend agreed to massages- we went to massage studio everyday, and he felt more calm after. I managed to convince him of switching the phone off, and I brought him to the village where he was able to sleep in the night at least for 3-4 hours a day (less light and less sounds made him less worried). Slowly, I convinced him that he needs to find balance in his life, and sport would not be a bad idea. He started walking, and doing breathing exercises, even for 2-3 hours a day. Then everyday he started exercising. I started seeing a change in him and hope came. I followed the path and showed him how great I feel after cold-warm showers, he copied this behaviour, and felt again much better after. He started using sauna and cold showers for even more contrast. He started going everyday for 1- 2 hours to the sun. He strated eating and sleeping and his body was healing. His brain though didn't think clear yet. He was still mixing reality and the visions. This is when I started learning about healthy diet and supplements and came across your videos. I started cooking keto- without the sugars and carbs, all fresh, only high quality ingredients. I included a lot of fish, olive oil, nuts, 100% cocoa, and plenty of different vegetables. My problem was that my boyfriend still did not want to take any medication or supplements in the capsules. So I started doing the morning shakes with all possible supplements in powder or Natural form: Ashwaganda, Ginko, Ginseng, Green Tee, Alges (Chlorella, Spirulina), Cocoa, and more. He considered it a food and not supplement. It started giving big results and I saw mental health improving so much, thinking was sharper, and my boyfriend started to go working everyday for 2-3 hours (he owns a dance studio, so movement and nice music was making it better, we agreed though he will do only dancing classes and no office work, which tired his nervous system still a lot on that point). So far, natural medicine helped very much and my boyfriend was also convinced of that, because he felt so much better after all what we've done for his health.
Then convinced that I go correct way, I somehow managed to convince him to take not powder but high dosis encapsulated vitamins and minerals- I underlined that there are no side-effects as I chose the brand "Sunday Naturals" that has got high-quality natural products. He took daily: Omega Acids+DHA, Magnesium in 7 forms, and for the night extra Magnesium Gluconat to be able to sleep better, Vitamin B Complex, Ginko+Ginseng+Gotu Cola Complex, Anti-Stress Complex that included Ashwaganda, Rhodiola, GABA, and others, as well as Vitamin C, and D+K to improve immune system and reduce inflammation in general. We did Korean Ginseng mixed with Green Tee everyday in the morning.
He took this this for over 4 months. In the summer he made a break in supplements and felt very good.
Now it passed one year, my boyfriend feels very good, leads a company, works intensively. His mood is constant and good. He is also aware now that what he saw and believed have been only hallucinations and he distanced himself from that. He is fully into the life here and now.
But he keeps his healthy lifestyle routine, does his daily exercises, we keep the diet, do massage once in a week or two,
Now in Autumn we bought again the set of natural supplements.
I want to say thank you Dr Berg, for sharing your knowledge, without your videos, it would be not possible to lead again a completely normal life.

Ketogenesis could destroy toxo, since it needs to lipogenesis to survive, but it has to be a specific keto diet, like carnivore is probably very effective. I've never seen a study on carnivore diet and toxo, but so many vegetables block the necessary immune response due to salicylates, that this may be why people with bipolar and OCD get better on carnivore.

The best natural protocol for bipolar disorder and OCD:
    Fix any gut issues first:
    • Consume fermented foods with prebiotics and probiotics.
Go on a low-carb ketogenic diet:
    • The carnivore version of keto may be beneficial for people with gut problems.
    Take fish oil:
•Ccod liver oil contains vitamin D, vitamin A, and omega-3 fatty acids.
    Take B vitamins:
    • B1 and folate are very important. Nutritional yeast is a great source of natural B vitamins.
Cut out grains, sugar, and grain oils:
    • It’s essential to support the friendly microbes in the gut and remove things from the diet that cause inflammation.
    Additional options:
    • Lithium orotate (for bipolar disorder)
    • N-acetyl cysteine (for mania)
    • Hyperforin (for depression)
    • Glycine (for schizophrenia)
    • Niacin B3(for schizophrenia)

Deep therapy work can be effective also. Bipolar disorder, like almost all mental illness, is rooted in unresolved trauma, usually from childhood. Heal the psychological/emotional trauma and the mental illness goes away. The hard part is working through it all and going deep enough to fully release everything. Modern therapy rarely does that since everyone wants a quick fix these days.
