  • Following on from my last video that guided you through how to change a Montegrappa Steel Nib, I’ve now had great joy trying out all 6 of the 2020/21 Montegrappa Steel Nib Grades in one sitting!
Specially manufactured in Germany by JoWo for Montegrappa, the range starts with Extra Fine and goes right through to 1.5mm Stub. Which one will you go for? Whether you wish to replicate an existing nib you use or if you fancy being creative with a new grade completely - Check this short video out to see my non-techy ‘walk/write through’ Montegrappa’s current steel nib selection.
My views are personal, non-commercial and born out of 40+ years of buying, selling and servicing pens for a living (now retired).
I hope you enjoy this video and as always, I'd welcome your feedback and views too.
    Cheers
    Peter Jesper (December 2020)

Belated thanks for an excellent review.
I thought I'd got Italian pens out of my system but the new Zero from Goldspot has caught my eye. So I thought I'd research their nibs, which I believe are Jowo, tuned in house?, as previous Italian nibs have been variable to say the least. These seem to be on the finer side, which suits me, as some medium and broads are like magic markers.
Venice is special to me so I noticed the Murano. If they ever bring out a Torcello, the loveliest lagoon island IMHO, I probably won't be able to help myself, though resin has to be pretty special, by which I mean subtle and not gaudy, to please me.

      Thanks for your note Ronald.
I was really pleased with how all these steel nibs performed and I've had my eye on the Zero for a while (but not saved enough pocket money yet lol!). If I did go Zero, I'd be tempted to go with the 14k nib options as I have a medium 14k in my treasured Monte Grappa and its lovely!
You're right. Personalised/branded Jowo nibs are their stock offering although they tune and test in the factory. I think Montegrappa do have aspirations to produce their own nibs eventually too.
Venice is a special place for us too and Bassano del Grappa (Montegrappa's home) is not many miles away!
      Cheers
      Peter J.

Thank You for the informative video, i was looking for a direct comparison between the nib lines, i am going for the copper mule with Broad Nib AFTER getting it tested and maybe adjusted to be on the wetter side.
    Cheers.
