- Is Headquarters WW2 worth your time and money? Headquarters WW2 is a turn based strategy game set in Normandy 1944. Although often compared to Xcom it's more like Panzer Corps 2 but with cinematic visuals reminiscent of the first Company of heroes.
If you're looking for an immersive WW2 experience this video will help you decide whether Headquarters WW2 is right for you, starting with a 60 second TLDR so you can tap out early if it doesn't appeal to you, followed by a more detailed analysis of what you actually do in the game while comparing it to other similar games along the way.
It also plays great on Steam Deck!

#headquartersww2 - Hry
Headquarters WW2 is a mixture of Panzer Corps 2 and the original company of heroes cinematic vibes. But is it right for you? TLDR - it's inoffensive but could use a bit more content to improve longevity and help it compete against other WW2 strategy games. The soundtrack is a bit bland, but boy oh boy do some of the sound effects have a bit of oomf behind them! Worth noting it works well with a controller as I mostly played the game on Steam Deck. Are you considering a purchase? Have you already made a purchase and have an opinion to share? Let us all know!
My brother picked this up this week and seems to be enjoying it so far.
@AytchZero Glad to hear it. I'm curious how long he plays it for as I think the one issue might be longevity. The missions don't take all that long to complete and the skirmish is a bit underwhelming. But maybe he will enjoy replaying the missions with different units
Thanks for your review! You kept things concise which I appreciate. I’ve had this game on my wishlist for a while but haven’t seen a whole lot of coverage on it.
@ClovrCat Thank you! I hope it was useful.
The game is good, it's just not amazing
Great review. Mature and to the point. Love this channel.
@michaelfrgegaard881 thank you sir!
Good and comprehensive review, thanks.
Thanks for watching, I hope it was useful
Decisive Campaigns: Ardennes Offensive, the AI is quite good. Leave a gap in your lines or push and enemy will punish you, also reinforces the correct unit. No mad dash to destruction for the AI units as many of the turned based. Love The Troop, biggest knock for me is some of the AI is quite silly. The previous Decisive Campaigns had too many units for me to enjoy. Ardennes is smaller in scope; hope more are made at this scale. Great review, really enjoyed thank you.
@ceithearnc4215 thank you for sharing your thoughts, much appreciated!
I love the reviews. This game is like advanced Panzer general 2
@Hardcore6166 thank you! I hope you find them useful
I’m going to pick this up I know I’m going to love it, a 40k version would be anazing
@timwillis2505 if you're interested in a 40k version you should check out Battlesector! It just so happens I'm releasing a video on that in the next few days
@@twiglets2 I have battle sector, and it’s great, I just crave a large battle map, ya know some EPIC 40k. With graphics like battlesector. I did notice headquarters ww2 that looks awesome and The Troop looks great also
@@timwillis2505 Battlesector on a grander scale would be so cool!
Its a game I'll probably buy when it appears in a Steam sale. I love the similar turn based ww2 game The. Troop. I find thd AI in that game challenging and has plenty of replay value.
I don't think it will be long before there are some decent discounts for this game
Do you think the game offers too little at the moment for the current price? Are campaign missions short?
@francescovissicchio7452 I'd say that if you like skirmish then it offers too little at the moment. The campaigns are pretty decent overall but it would be worth waiting a while to see if they offer another discount soon, if you're not in a rush. Definitely worth picking up on sale of you enjoy ww2 strategy!
@twiglets2 Thanks. I will wait on a discount. I also eyed another title from these developers, called Strategic mind :Blitzkrieg. Did you try it? I am curious to hear opinions about it
"Turns left" = Next game.
looks great, thanks for the review. What theater are they planning next?
@MrElliptific thank you! I don't believe they've announced the next theatre, but personally I think either the Pacific or north Africa would work well
Isn't it more like Battle Academy than Panzer Corps?
@lastburning I haven't played Battle Academy before but it looks very similar indeed!
way more like Battle Academy, Its nothing like Panzer Corps
SD2 too only covers 1944...
@Edgars-vd6ws I've not played it for a while but doesn't SD2 have early war tanks etc?
@@twiglets2 Yes, but it's only because some of those divisions (mostly German) still used them in 1944, but the organization of all divisions are taken only from 1944.
@@Edgars-vd6ws Ahh interesting! Provided the units are there that's the main thing

@Victormination fasd
I'm so dissapointed with the German voices that I will wait for a mod before I buy this.
@lazyjanner I'm not sure if you are being serious but to me it's a shame when this happens. I see no reason for the various factions not to speak in their native tongue with subtitles. I find it less immersive when all the Germans speak with English accents.
@@twiglets2 I also feel that way. Iron Harvest and the Close Combat games did this very well.
