    Oh, brilliant!
    Really happy to hear you like the paints, they are excellent quality and not too expensive ( considering) ,at least where I live. And have a huge selection of colours, which is a good thing.... or a bad thing, depends how you look at it 😂
    If you are interested in granulating colours, there are some very nice ones, like Potter's pink, also a gorgeous granulating Mars black ( I was on a fence about getting that one, but really glad I did). Aquarius black,I hear, granulates as well...
    And they last a long time,too!
    Happy painting!

      Thanks so much Ellen! Having many paints is never a bad thing😂😂💖
      Potter’s Pink is one of my most frequently used paints (I have Daniel Smith)-especially for animal noses, tongues, ears, etc…and also in landscapes for rocks! PBk11 is also a huge favorite of mine. I have Daniel Smith’s Lunar black-it’s lovely. Both of these are on my Roman Szmal wish list as well, and the fact that you mentioned them makes me very curious indeed!
      Definitely a collection worth building. I’m delighted you enjoyed this review-happy painting!

    Thank you for sharing this palette and the colour mixing options. I have some Roman Szmal paint and love the Aquarius Green which is a very different green . Roman Szmal paints just seem to glide on the paper and rewet so easily.

      Hi Anita! You’re welcome! Roman Szmal isn’t readily available here in the US so I was thrilled when I found it on sale at Jackson’s!
      Thank you so much I will look to adding the Aquarius Green!💚🤠

    Thanks for another great review. I'd remove the raw umber and get a dark like Payne's Gray. I wonder why there are no darks in this palette? It's annoying to have to mix a dark every time you want one.

      Hi Rebecca! You’re so welcome-I’m happy you liked this review!
      That’s so logical-I never thought to remove the Cypress Raw Umber…as in…why didn’t that even cross my mind?!🤷🏻‍♀️😂
      I do prefer to mix my darks-the Ultramarine and Burnt Sienna in this set make a very lovely grey or black full of life and dimension & I really love that capability.
      I understand wanting to use a Payne’s Gray-it’s a beautiful hue and depending on the manufacturer, it can sometimes be just the right shade🩵

    Hi Ann! Thank you for sharing your opinion of these paints. I can’t wait until Roman Szmal release their tubes. I hope I have access to them where I live to try them.

      You’re very welcome! Yes definitely excited about their tube paints👏🏼👏🏼
      I’m also looking forward to seeing about their proposed student line of paints. Should be interesting-I’m hoping they can impart a comparable pigment strength to their professional line!

    • @awatercolourist
      @awatercolourist Před rokem +1

      @@artonthecreek I did not know that they are working on a student line? THat would be a shame, though, I don’t like the idea of a student line of paints. It cheapens the brand 😕.

    • @artonthecreek
      @artonthecreek  Před rokem

      Interesting-do you think Sennelier and Schmincke suffered because of their student lines? I’m genuinely curious to hear your thoughts on this-

    • @awatercolourist
      @awatercolourist Před rokem +1

      @@artonthecreek Well, no, of course they didn’t 🙂. But I still don’t think they have as much of a polished image now 😂. But I do love the Schmincke Akademi student paints. I have one paint, the Orange; it is just Gorgeous! I have not tried any of the Sennelier paints. I did try van Gogh, though, and I can definitely see a very obvious difference between it and professional/handmade paints. I can’t use van Gogh now that I have tried professional paints 😕.

      @artonthecreek  Před rokem +1

      Gotcha. I see what you’re saying.
      I tend to be a fan of student lines because some artists cannot afford or don’t see a need for professional grade paints. Being able to have access to a reputable, quality brand within a given price range means more access to creativity, which is always a good thing🩷
      I don’t have a personal student favorite that I prefer over the pro lines…but…I do think there are some very good student grade paints out there!🤠 I’ll have to try that orange!!🧡🧡

      Hi there and welcome! Collecting supplies and making swatches could honestly be a craft in and of itself! That’s half the fun 🤩

    I love roman szmal 🥰 waiting for them to release their paint in tubes 😅 I've been trying to force myself to use yellow ochre because I don't like it so I understand your struggle in trying to force yourself to use a color 😅 good luck with that!

    That certainly is one super granulating goethite! My one is Daniel Smith and it’s beautiful but doesn’t granulate half as much. Funnily enough, the colour I am most draw too is that Cyprus raw umber you disliked Ann! I only have one RS paint and it’s his quinacridone cherry. It’s a fun almost neon peachy pink that is great for cheeks and florals :)

      Isn’t it gorgeous?? Oooo… Quinacridone Cherry… Adding that one to my list! I might trade you forthe Cyprus Raw Umber….. nah…I’ll keep it😆

    What do you all think about these if I am looking for my first professional set ? Or W&N?

    • @artonthecreek
      @artonthecreek  Před 6 měsíci

      Hi Craig! Thanks for watching & commenting🤠 The Roman Szmal set is lovely and would be a wonderful segue into your first professional set of watercolors.
      When selecting your first professional set, I would recommend considering whether or not the color range suits your needs, if the price & availability is to your liking, and if the brand offers pans and/or tubes, as well as are the paints sold individually of only as sets.
      It will take some light research, but you’ll be able to find a set at the right price point that you can add to as your watercolor journey progresses.
      Roman Szmal would be an excellent place to start.
