ABOUT JAY LENO'S GARAGE ON CNBC
Hosted by legendary comedian and “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno, the series explores our obsession with all things automotive. From classic cars to supercars and everything in-between, Jay is hitting the road to discover the most exciting, weird and wonderful vehicles ever made and meet the passionate people behind their wheels. Each one-hour themed episode features a mix of stunts, challenges, reviews, and celebrity interviews that showcases the colorful history of the automobile. Whether he’s exploring the story of an iconic brand, road-testing the newest super car, or investigating the latest automotive innovations, there is no wheel Jay won’t get behind to tell the story of our love affair with the car.
About Jay Leno: Acclaimed TV late night show host, admired stand-up comedian, best-selling children’s book author, much-in-demand corporate speaker, lovable TV and movie voice-over artist, pioneering car builder and mechanic, and philanthropist…it’s no wonder that Jay Leno is widely characterized as “the hardest working man in show business.”

Nobody minds the old way, Jay, we just love hearing ya talk about your cars.
Imagine it was him setting up each go pro and each angle change. Getting perfect shots everytime. Knowing lighting is dead on.
He’s not alone.
We’re not alone.
I agree, but still glad I don't live in California
Agreed. There's just something really nice about Jay simply talking about cars he likes.
I kind of prefer it, feels more real somehow
Theres so much truth in that statement.
"If you run over a dime, you could tell if its heads or tails in this car with this suspension on it."
My favorite line in this episode.
'If you run over an animal, not only can you tell what it was, but also what it had eaten for breakfast'.
Clarkson
@@simonlloyd7557 good one
I ran over a dime and I heard FDR say, " Oh, Eleanor!"
I had a girlfriend in high school that had such a firm rear and tight jeans that you could read the date of a dime in her rear pocket 😏
We say "If you run over a cigarette butt, you could tell what brand it is".
The Stratos is one of the most beautiful cars ever made in my opinion.
60's alfa Romeo's n ferrraris
It was designed by the great Marcello Ghandini when he was at Bertone.
Adore, totally. Gandini at his best.
In person they are so chunky and compact. You feel like you could tuck it under your arm and walk off with it.
and with a beautiful story
Beautiful car, you can see the similarities to the x19 which I owned, I can't afford a stratos unfortunately.
You never saw what this machine could do until you saw it in full flight on the back roads of Kenya way back during the good old days of the Safari Rally. You knew it was approaching from the unique configuration of lights leading the thick plume of dust in the distance... Still get goosebumps, those are some special childhood memories.
Unfortunately, a Stratos did not win the Safari (or RAC) Rally.
Honestly Jay, these “pandemic edition” episodes are great, even when the “rona” is gone, we’d be okay with this style being used every now and then.
100% Agree... well said sir...
LOL! You think the swamp is just going to give up this power. That's hilarious!
+1 awesomeness! one on one with Jay. Thanks ☺️
I love him, he’s so cute to be sorry about it
Exactly. These are just awesome. There are these old school Leno vibes going on which I love very much!
"I gotta find one of these"
That's Jay's highest compliment.
that one will be auctioned soon. i hope that he buys it because i have rarely seen him have so much fun.
I smiled ear to ear when he said that.
@@packrcch Yeh, it seems like the auction guy knows how to generate the right kind of interest in the right kind of buyer, "Here Jay, keep this for a couple weeks, would you?"
I hope he buys it, can't go wrong!
I don't think I've heard him say that before!
“If you run over a dime you can tell if its heads or tails” Now that’s suspension that talks to you!! Another Car Academy Award goes to JL!!
I did laugh out loud on that one too!
The version I have heard is if you drive over an insect you can tell if its a male or female, both very funny.
@@deanmouhta ;4;
That's a great line!
When you're given an opportunity to review/drive a car you may not get the chance to again. You have to do it! Thanks for sharing this history piece.
Can we all appreciate Jay's commitment to making sure we have a new video every week? What a legend! :)
I remember when he first started these videos, I always hoped they'd get popular, and now he has well over 3 million subscribers.
YOU R THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously tho!
Absolutely!
I will tell you a secret: he makes money from this. You probably go to work every day --> you are a legend!
No, Jay, we certainly don't mind you one-on-one with us. The information you give us is wonderful, and I love seeing the open love you show to vehicles. Thank you, stay safe!
I like the crew vids more
Exactly!
The polish the videos have with the crew is nice, sure, but Jay can entertain a crowd by himself. I'm glad we're still getting episodes instead of a hiatus.
I guess it would have been nice to see some more exterior shots, but maybe Jay could just pick a route that drove past his crew's houses, and they could film him as he went past, whilst still staying at home ;)
even if it was a black screen with Jay talking, would still enjoy it
You know you're driving a classic when every gauge wags it's finger like a mom reminding you of a bad decision.
An Italian classic, especially. They all looked like they had the DT's......
😂
...that's what I was thinking too. I believe the tach is probably an early electric tachometer but definitely waving its finger at Jay
Personal favorite Rally car ever. That engine just sings endlessly. Bravissimo!!!
Don't apologise Jay. We love the "pandemic edition" episodes
it's funny because I'm used to watching a lot of youtube one-person operations, but even Jay's loner vids still feel like high end productions to me
I think these are not enjoyable to sit back and watch.
I love the pandemic editions more then the regular! i dont say that those are bad. but these pandemic specials are just
Brown noser
Never apologize for these videos. We don’t tune in for the cinematography, we keep coming back because you’re living our dreams, you’re one of us, and you get it.
Well said👍🏻
Agree!!! 👍🏻👍🏻
@@x3a3x3 Couldn't agree more!
“You gotta LIVE in the time you’re living in” thank you for that Jay.
Personally, I don't miss the crew, but I imagine that it's a bother doing everything on your own. But having uncle Jay talk about cars, any car, is just what I need against the covid monotony
I like seeing Jay falling in love with a car in real time. I hope he gets one of his own in the near future.
Well this one is for sale, I wonder if Jay will buy it lol

Three years later I'm watching this AGAIN... thanks Jay, I really appreciate your work 👍
Jays heart is in this video, he misses his friend. It's obvious and written all over Jays face, carved into his oddly melancholy demeanor. Love you Jay. You're going to live forever.
I especially felt this in how he touch the car 1:42
RIP John, what a legend.
Absolutely love this car, so much automotive history tied to this one.
My favorite guest on this show 😥
Great guy
When Jay says something like "I've got to find one of these", you know it's something special.
"And now my friend, the first rule of Italian driving...
What's behind me, is not important!"
No truer words were spoken by Franco.
Ahhhhhh, the late, great Raoul Julia in The Gumball Rally!
I've watched years of JLG and I've seen him enjoy rides, I've seen him be diplomatic when a ride isn't up to perhaps what he expected from it but I must say this is one of the few times where it seems the car has not only impressed him but it's genuinely and surprisingly exceeded whatever he had expected from it.
HF means high fidelity, and was a Lancia owners club or program that reward the most loyal customers with a lots of things like reserved invitation at the new car's presentations all offered by lancia and a series of premium services. You can enter in that club buying at least 6 new cars for yourself or your family, and inside there was a sort of division in tier, with the top tear (which gave the right to the golden hi-fi Lancia badge) at 50 cars. The club was born in the 1960 at the Geneva motor show, and was founded for the purpose of: "Lancia Hi-Fi ideally brings together all motorists who have demonstrated a particular loyalty to Lancia over time. Its purpose is to
strengthen the bonds of sympathy and cordiality between members and Lancia".
Exactately ! Thanks.
My dad had Fulvia,Flavia Coupes. I had 2x Beta HPE,Gamma ,Flaminia coupes. Guess this qualifies? First time I heard of this. The real Lancia does not exist anymore though.( I am in New Zealand)

Funniest thing I've seen in a while. How many trips will Jay make? One...two...three...

That Stratos is one of the sexiest cars ever designed. I've always found them fascinating, and having the opportunity for a virtual ride in one is a real treat. You're doing a fantastic job keeping these videos going, Mr. Leno. With our without your crew, you are bringing a lot of joy to cart nuts everywhere, and I, for one, am grateful for your devotion.
This is a car that deserves to be mentioned in every single Automotive history book, simply AMAZING. This, the Lancia Delta S4, RS200, and Quattro. I could only imagine waking up in the morning, grabbing a hot beverage, and walking into a garage to look at these cars, screw looking at the sunrise. The Stratos though, is the true LEGEND.
One of the greatest cars ever made!
Idk why, but the thought of Jay Leno pulling over to put a camera on the ground to get a drive-by shot makes me smile. Just a down to earth car guy!
You think it's actually done by one person? Ever see photos of live "news" in the street? Masks, sometimes full coverage suits, meanwhile... The camera crew doesn't even bother. It's theater, especially for the rich, hollywood, and politicians
In LA they did not steal it either
@@VeritasEtAequitas There are a lot of CZcams vlogs that are shot by one person. It takes longer to do but is obviously doable. You should park your prejudice.
"im sorry I don't have the film crew"... Jay, we love the pandemic editions!!!
Chris Harris and his episode on the Pirelli tire testing with Lancia, even Chris was speechless/scared s***less after riding passenger with the greats such as Ari hahaha
I love when theres no crew there it feels like my old italian grandad is just sharing his love of cars with me one on one
Isn’t it great about how grateful and appreciative Jay is on being able to drive the car.
This is just one of those cars that always sounds (and probably feels) like you're going fast in it, even at 30 mph. Cars like that are just the absolute best when you're driving on public roads.
Jay, You never need to apologize. I've commented a number of times how grateful I am that you're willing to do these videos, and how much I've enjoyed them. Thank you very much again!
Love it when we just hear the exhaust sound and the caption says “music.”
As the country burns, Jay still opens up his toy box and shares with us...thank you doesn't even begin to express my gratitude.
I was 9 years old when I first saw and heard a Stratos. I’m 42 years today and still smile and get obnoxiously excited about these cars whenever I see one. Well done! Amazing video!
Lenos garage and Harrys garage. Two amazing gentlemen bringing cars to us, that we likely would never get near ... Awesome !!!
Not only one of my favorite rally cars but one of my favorite cars in general. Give me this and a Lancia 037 and I could die happy.
And a Audi S1 E2 for me please.
Porsche GT3RS with a manual gearbox would be fine for me.
The 037 was a beast. I personally would prefer the Stratos and the Delta HF Integrale.
@@Harey0407 walter roehrl liked the 037.
And the Lancia Thema 8.32. The most understated sedan with a peppy engine.
Probably the single most exciting car review I've ever seen on Jay Lenos Garage. The Lancia Stratos is the David of the rally car world.
Stratos is amazing but for me the twin charged delta takes the crown out of the two.
Actually that honor goes to the original Mini Cooper because it won the 63' Monte Carlo rally against other bigger more powerful cars.
@@bicyclist2 Yes! But then again I am British so I am a bit biased 😆
david?
@@paveantelic7876 my first thought was like Michaelangelo's David.
Thats fantastic. John Campion's hero was Cork's famous rally driver Billy Coleman. Billy famously campaigned a private Stratos (owned by Graham Warner - Chequered Flag) in the UK during the late '70s. The car had been crashed and rebuilt so many times - without any support from Lancia - and still remained competitive, a testament to the strength of that chassis.
RIP John.
I love the wheels on the car, they are timeless.
I’m so early Jay hasn’t even changed into his denim yet. Haha
He's all alone, he has no one to impress with his impeccable styling
Ha! Good one.
Like many working from home, he is wearing his pyjamas.
One of these lived round the corner from me when I was a teenager, at the Chequered Flag Garage on the Chiswick High Road, West London. It was a regular entry in the British Rally Championship. You can't beat one in the iconic Alitalia livery though. One of my all time favorite race cars. The G5 turbo version was an utter brute. Go bid on it Jay, you know you want to.
I'm impressed that Jay does these videos, not for himself but, for us you tube viewers. Thanks for thinking of us Jay.
Back in 1979 as a UMass Amherst student I traded in my FIAT Bravo to a new Lancia Beta Coupe at Foreign Auto in Boston. I joined the Lancia club had seen few Stratos! I showed my Lancia Beta Coupe to my professor who paid me dearly for me to afford a brand new Lancia and he liked all the so many gauges. Six months later a drunk driver ran the red light and smashed into my Lancia Beta totaling it. I used my insurance money bought a Alfa Sprint Veloce (still have it) I love the performance of a Lancia Beta Coupe and miss it a lot!
Rest In Peace John Campion🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
"I gotta find one of these." he says.... I was floored to find out today Jan 25, 2021 that you do not have at least 2 already.
This was one of my favorite cars as a kid. Thanks for showing what it's like to drive. Oh the sound of that engine.
This seems like the most pure fun I’ve seen jay have in a car... he never gets tired of great automobiles. Jay no need to apologize in any video you are an absolute legend for bringing these cars to the masses
Don’t apologise. You’re having fun and we’re along for the ride! Cheers
That moment when you know that Jays about to spend alot of money. Lol.
My Dad and I used to race the cars when they were driving between stages in the East African Safari Rally in Kenya. We adored the Stratos. The loveliest car ever made. I mist up every time I see one.
I positively LOVE "lockdown edition" of Jay Leno's Garage!! Don't ever apologize for them, Jay! You and your channel are simply the best!
I enjoy the pandemic editions!!! Thank you Jay Leno for continuing some semblance of normal!!! 😁
Sad to hear about John Campion, he was such an enthusiast.
Lancia Integrale is the most successful rally car.
RIP John Campion, a great Irishman and a great American too. Right up to the end he was passionate about developing young Irish motor racing talent and that continues on in his name. A great legacy.
I have loved these cars since they came out. Bought a model kit of it in the 70's that I haven't even opened. These cars have been on my mind a lot lately and then boom! The video. Thanks Jay! This is a huge treat!
I love the stratos, I agree that it’s a timeless car, it still has that wow factor.

When my son was young and we were living on Okinawa, they had a "supercar" show. . .they had a Countach, several Ferraris, a Muira and several other 70's "supercars". . .and a Lancia Stratos. . .it was the first time I had seen one and I fell in love, especially when they sat there and revved that engine. . .thanks for this one Jay 👍👍
I can't imagine living anywhere near where Jay drives these. I would absolutely crash whatever car I was driving if I ever saw a Stratos driving down the road.
I've seen some of these cars in various auto shows, they are very impressive. Really tiny but with an absolutely aggressive design.
I've never seen one driving down the road, obviously... Must be quite a sight to behold.

One of those miniature cars every school boy treasure's in his pocket. A miniature race car every man keeps in his pocket. The Rallye gear ratios make sense for everyday driving, AND racing. All the other road/race hyper cars are geared for driving to the moon. Who needs that. 0 to 100 is where it's at. Reality. Jay, Thank you for sharing the loss of your friend. We all miss him.
