Podczas II wojny światowej Praga została zniszczona w 25%. Zniszczeniu uległo ok. 85% największych zakładów przemysłowych. W mniejszym stopniu ucierpiały mniejsze zakłady przemysłowe i rzemieślnicze oraz budynki mieszkalne. W ciągu kolejnych czterech miesięcy Praga znajdowała się na linii frontu, z czego przez pierwsze sześć tygodni nie tylko od strony Wisły, ale również od strony północnej. Miasto było w tym czasie intensywnie ostrzeliwane przez Niemców
W tej części miasta zachował się przez długie lata specyficzny praski folklor, handel na Bazarze Różyckiego, kapliczki na podwórkach kamienic. Dopiero w ostatnich latach przybyło na Pradze inwestycji: część budynków poddano renowacji, na przykład kamienice wzdłuż ulicy Ząbkowskiej, czy zabytkowe obiekty położone na terenie Warszawskiej Wytwórni Wódek „Koneser”
Praga zaczęła cieszyć się zainteresowaniem artystów i turystów - powstało tu wiele galerii i małych lokali gastronomicznych, w nowych budynkach coraz chętniej osiedlają się nowi mieszkańcy.

During World War II, 25% of Prague was destroyed. Approximately 85% of the largest industrial plants were destroyed. Smaller industrial and craft plants and residential buildings suffered less damage. During the next four months, Prague was on the front line, of which for the first six weeks not only from the Vistula side, but also from the north. At that time, the city was heavily shelled by the Germans
In this part of the city, specific Prague folklore, trade in the Różycki Bazaar, and shrines in the courtyards of tenement houses have been preserved for many years. Only in recent years has there been an increase in investments in Praga: some buildings have been renovated, for example tenement houses along Ząbkowska Street, or historic buildings located on the premises of the Warsaw Vodka Factory "Koneser"
Prague has begun to enjoy the interest of artists and tourists - many galleries and small restaurants have been established here, and new residents are increasingly willing to settle in new buildings.
