    This was actually a really cool theory! It gave a sense that Rupees are more valuable in a sense because they're currency but also kind of like the source of all magic in the Zelda series. Also, I thought you'd mention it but you didn't. The magic armor in Wind Waker and Nayru's Love in Ocarina of Time both create barriers around their user and are crystals with a sphere in the middle. It got me thinking that what if the magic armor IS Nayru's Love? After the Hero of Time defeats Ganon and goes back in time, he loses all his weaponry since he goes back to before he first pull the sword from the pedestal. It could be possible that Zunari's family found Nayru's Love and has kept for generations until Zunari kept it for his travels, and it eventually went to Link, and by extension, "was returned" to Link. After all Zelda games tend to give redesigns to characters, enemies, and items in each entry of the series. Just a quick thought I had.

      And you're right. It still doesn't explain what happened to Nauru's Love. Perhaps the great fairy was able to create another (or something similar), and Zunari's family stumbled upon the fountain?
      Then again, Zeltik's theory about the Fairy's purpose being to serve link doesn't make as much sense, since why would they gift something to Zunari's Family?
      Perhaps they saw it coming that he would eventually give it to the Hero of Wind, but who knows~

      I think it has more to do with twilight princess. That game was planned to have a magic meter until very late in development, but was scrapped. That game also saw the return of magic armor. It was likely that magic armor was supposed to run on magic, but when they cut magic, they had the idea to make it run on rupees instead. Great idea, terrible execution. So when WWHD came around, I guess they kept the rupee idea and finally perfected magic armor.

    I have two thoughts that I'd love feedback on.
    1) Since forever ago I've always assumed Rupees are actually crystallized magic.
    Hear me out. Hyrule is so teeming with magic, from its Great Fairies down to its grass, rocks, and clay. If magic is like a type of energy - which can neither be created or destroyed - then it would stand to reason that breaking something would release that stored energy. If a significant enough amount is released in the same area, I postulate that it would clump together into its crystal structure; a rupee. The more magic released, the different hue you end up with.
    It also would make sense that, they'd be plentiful enough to use as currency; especially if they could utilize said magic crystal. Perhaps they found some way to extract the magic into a suit of armor. It would also make sense that the higher valued rupees would be rarer as they would both take more to create and contain more magic.
    2) Doesn't the design of the orb in WW's orb look very...Twili patterned? Maybe it's just me, but I can't help but see it. They basically updated the HD armor to be a BETTER version of TP's.

    • @jacintacapelety9600
      @jacintacapelety9600 Před 2 lety +2

      I'm pretty sure I've heard a similar theory in a video somewhere, though I can't remember by who. The idea of rupees being crystalized magic also explains Rupoors somewhat. I mean, even ignoring the question of how negative currency could possibly work, why would Link choose to hold on to a rupoor when it's exclusively a negative thing to have? Wouldn't he just put it back where he found it? But, if rupoors are sort of like energy vacuums instead, putting the rupoor down wouldn't help, because it literally drains the magic energy that gives his rupees value before he even realizes what he's just picked up, and once that energy has been drained to equalization, it's too late. So rupees are physical manifestations of concentrated magical energy, and rupoors are physical manifestation of magical energy voids, so when rupoors come into contact with rupees, it's like matter and antimatter colliding.
      Edited to correct spelling errors.

In Wind Waker, Link gets straight back up again, but in Twilight Princess, the combat is serious and more realistic, so it's more dangerous, and Link is slower to get back up. And how fast and often the rupees drop in Twilight Princess makes the Magic Armour almost unequippable unless it's in a desperate situation. I don't think the Twilight Princess armor was made for the Royal Family, who were historically blessed by the gods and probably had the original Nayru's Love in any case. Why would they need to copy it? More than likely, since that Hyrule Castle Town is very fashion-focused, it was made by a courtier as an attempt to copy the Royal Family's style (as courtiers usually do, since the Royal Family in any country is usually the trendsetter). They see that a Hyrulian Prince/Princess is wearing a certain style of armor with a seemingly invisible force protecting them from attacks - so the courtier makes an expensive knock-off. But the closest thing to magic that the courtiers have (since they aren't blessed by the gods) is rupees, so they have to power theirs with that.
    Basically, I don't think the Royal Family would have made the magic armor in Twilight Princess; I think it was a knock-off made by a courtier trying to look like the Royal Family.

    • @maryherdman5755
      @maryherdman5755 Před 5 lety +1

      @M R Not necessarily; remember, Nayru's Love had a time limit, and Zelda is a princess, not a warrior. Nayru's Love was a gift of the Great Fairies, so the Royal Family could very well have their own version; nobody ever said that the magic Link got in OoT was the only version of it - just the only versions that he got. The fairies have plenty of other magic, as shown with abilities given in other games.
      Assuming that the Royal Family's Nayru's Love wasn't buried with Zelda's father in TP (seriously, if she's still a princess then where is the king?), there are plenty of reasons why Zelda didn't use it. She might not have known how; she might not have known where it was (see again, where is the king?), it might have been recently lost to them (the Magic Armor isn't new, especially to have been sold in a shop instead of still with whomever made it), etc.
      Considering how poor a copy the TP magic armor is of Nayru's Love, I still think it was meant for a noble trying to copy the Royal Family, instead of for the Royal Family themselves.

    Too bad the "best armor" is in a game where you get 20 hearts, and most enemies do a quarter-heart worth of damage (when you forget how ridiculously resilient your shield is and don't bother using that)... I spent most of Wind Waker Z-targeting everyone and nicking their valuables with the grappling hook.

    I Disagree. The original version of the Magic armor in Wind waker is better than the HD version. With 4 bottles filled with Free Blue potions, it will last for entire Boss battle (any). Plus if you have the Soup, you can maintain the Double Damage bonus during any of the Boss Battles. The Set up being 3 Blue Potions + 1 Soup. Really helpful when dealing with the ghost boss battle. In the HD version the Double Damage bonus goes away after the first hit even though you do not take any damage. Thus the Original version of the Magic Armor in WW is better than any other version of that type of protection.

    • @badrinath5306

      Wouldn't you rather use it all the time than just a boss fight.an optional items true utility is only found on how easier your life becomes not how easier it defeats a single boss.lets be fair people do no damage run on bosses even today sometimes with no issue what so ever.plus the magic upgrade isn't that easy to find just like everything else in the game.so it would be quite difficult to actually pull things off.plus y keep so many blue potions which r expensive btw.i mean sure u can farm blue chu Chu's but still it's quite irritating.
