Both programs are reasonably similar, so it can be hard to tell which offers the best value. This video aims to help you make an informed decision about which program is best for you.

Please do an updated review of the two reward program? I feel that a lot would have changed by now!

One thing you missed mentioning is probably reward seat availability, which in my opinion velocity has way more seats available both domestically and with partner airlines. Especially on popular destinations such as singapore or europe in premium cabins. Ultimately there is no point of collecting points if it's difficult to use when you wish to
Also although this may be subjective, qantas is known for long wait times on the phone despite having gold/platinum "priority phone service".

Agree, it is impossible to get a reward flight with Qantas unless you are prepared to use 3 or more times the number of points... and that is a year in adavance... As a longtime Qantas Customer, with almost a million FF Points, I find it impossible to use, unless I want to blow them all on a short trip... So now looking for an alternative until Qantas gets its act together - the only bonus with Qantas is that points don't expire, where as Velocity expire every 2 years.

Totally agree. This is the most important point, and I’ve noticed the same thing about Qantas. It’s useless unless you’re really high up in the Status Tier

@@kparker1615 Qantas points do expire. In fact, they have shorter expiration than Virgin, you have 18 mths to use Qantas Points when inactive (earning or redeeming). While Velocity have longer expiration, 24 mths.

Although a member of both, I make more effort to use the Qantas program as I use the points 5o buy gift cards and shopping. The flight rewards are harder to achieve and of less value

I fly from Perth to Canberra every few weeks with Virgin, you honestly should get more than 45 for that trip. In saying that Qantas is prohibitively expensive so that is a deal breaker.

Which CC would you recommend for someone who try to accumulate most points for cruises such as Virgin Voyage, Royal Caribbean, Disney Cruise. Complimentary travel credit or fly ticket every year is not something that I see benefit in as I don't fly anywhere, nor I go to hotels on annual bases. I am looking into getting CC co maximise on probably both Velocity and Qantas since those are the points needed for cruises from my knowledge. I would appreciate any feedback. I watched so many of your videos, yet nothing addressing sailors, so I thought I may reach out through comment. 🙂Thank you in advance

Hey there, unfortunately there's not a lot of credit cards that have benefits tied directly to to going on cruises. The only one that I am aware of is the AMEX Platinum card where you can get up to $300USD worth of additional benefits on your cruise, but that card has a high annual fee. If you're just trying to accumulate Qantas / Virgin frequent flyer points then some good ones would be the ANZ FF Black Card for Qantas or the Westpac Altitude Velocity Black for Velocity. Hope this helps!

@@raymondla Hi Ray, Thank you for your answer.
If I would like to collect both Velocity and Qantas simultaneously (as we cannot exchange one for another), which card would you recommend?
I am looking into having 2 CC cards, one maybe AMEX (either Platinum Edge or Explorer) and other Visa or Mastercard for times when I won't be able to use the AMEX due to high surcharge for using it or establishment not accepting it. I do have Flybuys connected to Velocity. I am open to all suggestions as I am new in this. If it would be me what 2-3 CC would you carry? $400-$500 annual fee for all the cards. Would you still suggest the ANZ & Westpac?
Thank you for your time answering my questions😇

@@raymondlayou were wrong here. 7 points for a lite fare but choice fare you get 15. Never worth choosing a lite fare since choice is like $20 more
