    My family has the Qantas Amex card and even though it has a $450 flight credit, Qantas flight fares are always so much more expensive compared to other airlines. Our renewal is at the end of this month. What is the best use of this flight credit if we don't have plans to travel? If we book a flight for 6 months away and our plans change how do we change our ticket if we decide not to renew this card?

    • @raymondla
      @raymondla  Před 2 měsíci

      You have two options:
      1. AMEX Rewards Points - You can then transfer points directly to Emirates and this will give you the most availability. Best cards to accumulate AMEX reward points would either be AMEX Explorer or the Platinum Card, just note the platinum card has a pretty high annual fee!
      2. Qantas Points - You can book reward flights with Emirates through Qantas, however there is less availability with this option.

      Yes kids under a certain age can typically enter lounges for free, for example for the AMEX centurion lounge kids under 17 can enter for free. Sign-up points will typically not expire with a few caveats. For AMEX if you close all your accounts with them, then your points will expire in 30 days. Whilst for Qantas, if you don't earn any Qantas points over 3 years then they will also expire.

      You should immediately get charged the $450 annual fee once you start using the credit card. In order to redeem the lounges for Qantas you need to first purchase an eligible Qantas product/service i.e. purchasing a Qantas flight. Centurion lounge automatically is given to you each anniversary year, just go to the lounge with your card and they'll let you in.
