  • Evan and Andre dive into the new NBA free agency rules and how they affect teams and player negotiations. They discuss the evolution of super teams, the importance of basketball IQ and chemistry, and the challenges Team USA faces in building a cohesive unit for the Olympics. They also highlight how the NBA is in a great place and argue that critics who say it's not "entertaining" are watching for the wrong reasons.

The NBA is in a great play talent wise, business wise (like the NFL), these max contracts are crippling franchises from actually putting together good rosters. I'm not going to pretend to have the answers but they definitely need to address the deals these guys are getting.

The NBA has had issues with "lack of excitement" around moments for years. It has a lot to do with ESPN and media partners. Basketball is treated so poorly compared to how they cater to the NFL. Any time we absorb mainstream basketball content you get a bunch of angry middle aged men talking negatively about young black men. What is the last game Wilbon enjoyed? The discourse around basketball is constantly negative it sucks. I turn on my tv chances are Kendrick Perkins is talking about how guys like jaylen brown fell off because his ppg went down. What kind of analysis is that? The NBA hasn't been covered as a "fun league" probably since the bubble.

They need to put Jaylen Brown on the team.

The problem with the halftime show is that it was 90 seconds split between 4 voices. The rest was just commercials. It would just be nice to see a little more depth during the NBA Finals. Stephen A or Roseanne doesn't make a difference. Neither one is a "basketball mind" in my opinion. They could go all in on WNBA players for all I care. I wouldn't miss Wilbohn or Bob Meyers, but just give us a little bit of analysis. Not legacy talk. Not trade rumors. Analysis.

I don’t understand what Iggy was saying about Jaylen Brown not being able to join team USA..

The issue with the finals was that Kyrie played like Evan Turner, Doris Burke and JJ sucked, and the games were spread out too far apart.

Most of the fans are casuals. When you play in the league you look at it through a player's lens. It's a sports and entertainment league, if it weren't the prices wouldn't be where they are, gambling wouldn't be as involved, etc.

The announcers or commentators need to be more postive.

NBA should watch how soccer and tennis are commented on. It is so much better than the NBA. Reggie Miller and Chris Webber are great announcers.

I felt like the discussion around the all-star game discussion was a bit misplaced. I was hoping you guys would touch specifically on the competitiveness of it today, that’s really what irks most fans. Kobe Bryant himself has publicly stated multiple times that the Allstar game lost its way, and that’s Kobe speaking; He clearly knew what he was talking about.
80’s and 90’s kids that grew up watching the Allstar game universally agree that there’s been a massive decline in the competitiveness, and it’s just a glorified celebrity fest at this point.

Ok. Let’s have a balanced conversation. Yes this was a great year for basketball. Finals were great. Playoffs were competitive. However I do think there are some opportunities for improvement. Specifically around the Refs. There’s a huge opportunity to improve the Refs view of the game. Taking the emotion out of the game is unrealistic and unnecessary. If you dunk and yell, that’s a tech. If you say nooo to a foul call that’s a tech. If you don’t let go of the ball during a tie up… that’s a tech. It’s getting ridiculous.

Playoffs were good overall but the finals were mid if I'm being honest that could just be me being a salty bucks fan tho

    • @Dre_Key
      @Dre_Key Před měsícem +2

Most of the playoffs were mid. Blowouts and injuries and retread matchups. Turrible as Barkley would say. ABC/ESPN sucks presentation wise. Adam silver needs to stop selling the game for money

  • @Dre_Key

No gambling on games. Stop using Scott foster so much. Quit talking about Lebron and only 3 teams all year.

I missed the entertainment this past season, and great key players were out. Refs Let the guys play ball stop calling these ridiculous files ejecting players for nonsense. Let the NBA players have most of the say, especially the championship players in regards to the rules and the guidelines of basketball. We wanna see real competition not rigged basketball. Do away with rigging and just let the players play. Rigged basketball is boring. Were not being entertained.

Dropped the ball on Anthony Edwards not being in the finals. That’s what we wanted to see. Skill toughness athleticism marketability etc gladiators. The league is diluted. The face of the league was and is Mike. Was it Shaq team? Is it LeBron is it Curry? The Europeans are the best? And then there was Michael.
