Michael has decided to see what can be accomplished with TWO Lego Escape from the Lost Tomb 77013 playsets from the 2023 Indiana Jones range to create a more accurate and substantive Well of Souls playset from Raiders of the Lost Ark! How did we do? Find out! - Komedie
Your imagination and determination to improve never ceases to amaze me. I’m such a huge fan of yours because Of the lengths you go. Thank you for all the hard work you do
Wow, thank you!
@@retroblasting ...I'm 2 weeks too late to have been fortunate enough to have been the first to voice the truly *well* earned & *deserved* praise for taking a good idea, & sticking the landing for Lego with your *brilliant* idea (too bad hasbro didn't produce something you could or even *would* spend your valuable time to improve *their* bland carbon freezing chamber fiasco- eagerly awaiting updates on you & your friend's 3D printed *proper* Cloud City)- *you* are an *inspiration* for us all to aspire to- I thought I was a fan of the Indiana Jones franchinse, but *you* Michael take the *fedora*- *CHEERS* & keep it *UP* Michael...! 👊👊👊👊
@@2013jmt1970 Thanks a million for the very kind words. - Michael
You did a great job with the Lego sets. The fact that you got a movie accurate play set out of what you had is really neat.
Now if LEGO makes the Venator Star Destroyer set...
This is just genius. It must have been so satisfying to see it all come together so perfectly.
This build is a great example of what a well of souls set wouldve looked like if it were made into a diorama set, like the idol grab set with the black base and plaque with a quote, for the well of souls it would obviously be “Snakes? Why did it have to be snakes?”
You should make insructions on how you built your modified set and release them so we can build it too!
Yeah because I just bought 2, and I’m not as smart as you🤣
I'm seriously considering picking up 2 of this set and taking a swing at what Michael did. Probably with A LOT of freeze-framing this video.
I agree!!!
I'm glad these seem to be selling well, hopefully it encourages Lego to expand beyond scenes they have already covered, like maybe a Club Obi-Wan or the Grail Temple as a set
I really want to see the slave driver fight, bridge battle and tank chase
12:11 really impressive lighting effect!
Also . . . might be my eyes playing tricks, but the Lego Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade Fighter Plane Chase 77012 has an Indiana Jones mini fig that looks like Michael French in full costume.
One of the biggest reasons I subscribed all those years ago and will always be here for, is your great attention to details for which I always have respected the Hard work you put into every video you create , I absolutely love the original Raiders of the Lost Ark film , saw it in theatres when it was first in theatres, and you definitely always show every property you talk about with great respect. love this!
Wow, that was awesome! It would help us a lot if you made instructions for this improvement, because I'm sure lots of people are looking forward to do the same in their collections
Says he isn't a lego engineer makes an improvement that I wouldn't have thought of and does it better than I a guy who collects Lego ever could
Now that’s what I call a playset!
Wow, that turned out really well. It’s certainly much more impressive than the regular set, and the way you incorporated the geography of the film makes it much more dynamic
Well done. I like the rules you instituted as well.
It took great self discipline to stay within your rules, I imagine. And it turned out really cool!
I would’ve been much too tempted to dig into brick link…
Impressive, most impressive.
I remember getting upset when I got a lot of Lego sets as a kid, lack of floors, strange locations, inaccuracy island, and all for glorious prices of $50+. I think I expanded sets like Tony Starks home, Two Face’s bank, and simple stuff like that but nothing like this.
This set alone I definitely want to find as well as the last crusade set as that film is my second favorite. Perhaps I’ll have to try something like this. As a young Raiders fan, I couldn’t help but smile at both videos quite a few times
Excellent video! Very creative. You must be tired. I was obsessed with Indy as a kid in the 80s. If I'd seen this back then I'd have exploded!
I recently rewatched ROTLA. I’m normally not into Lego sets, but seeing what you were able to do with two of these sets, makes me contemplate picking up this set. Love the end result!
Great job. Have been holding off buying this set for budget reasons, now I want two sets 😂
When you are good you are good Michael! Great attention to detail!
This looks great such a big improvement. I wasn't thinking of getting this set but seeing what you've done with 2 sets is really tempting. Also this is quite a good value set which I'm surprised by.
Top effort!! Looks like a brilliant display piece. You may not want to admit it, but you’ve certainly given plenty of ‘Lego Ideas’ to us all!
I love that one of the posts for the Ark Dias has the R2/C-3PO Easter egg. That’s a nice touch.
It turned out really great! (did Lego sneakily intended us to buy two sets to get the full set? LOL) Its now a fully functional diorama of the Well of Souls, I like the way the anubis statue know knocks over two panels of the walls.
Very cool. Its amazing that Michael was able to make the set better with detail rather than size or gimmicks.
This is the way!
i dont know if its a good or bad thing but i really enjoy those lego video! keep on the good stuff
This is really awesome! Thank you for sharing this! I really enjoyed how you tremendously improved this play set!
Love the amount of thought and consideration that went into achieving the result you managed, it’s a brilliant expanded space which still kept the essence of the original playset while striving for movie feel and accuracy. You don’t look that tired so I assume you’re talking about mental fatigue rather than physical, I totally understand that and feel your pain lol. Great video and result Michael.
Been waiting for someone to do an expanded version! Looks good
Congrats on a great set mod. I personally collect LEGO. I would love to collect action figures too, but I don’t have the space or funds to do so. So I’ll keep collecting LEGO, and watch channels like this to appreciate others collections.
Great video. I did go a little cross-eyed when you went into your design changes, but I was impressed with your customization.
Excellent work, sir. I appreciate your emphasis on the guardrails of only using pieces from the two sets. Restriction boosts creativity.
Thank you micheal. I respect you and your content so much. I’m so glad you’ve done a part two. Very enjoyable
He new exactly what he wanted to do and he made it happen!!!🙌🏾👍🏾👍🏾💯🔥
[Pete looks around and quickly clicks quantity (2)] Great job sir. Enjoyed the cool lighting you did on the set. 👏👏👏
Awesome alterations!👍🏻
Hey man! Coming from someone in the LEGO community, I gotta say, you did a really good job with this upgrade!! I would love to see more content like this from you, so keep up the good work!
Indiana Jones Lego was my passion years ago. I managed to track down and collect them all, but was always trying to improve them to be more accurate like this. You may have just started, but you nailed the expansion on the first try, congrats!
Thanks for uploading the follow up so soon!😊😊
Wow, that was great. Yes, two sets help a lot sometimes.
And the Details you worked out to get the look of the movie, great work!
Can't wait to see more sets CREATED by YOU :)
Totally Awesome Michael, this is how it should of been made and released! Cool creativity!
Came out great!
The love for the original Indiana Jones sets comes from nostalgia
Wow. That was a nice addition using all those parts.
It wasn't till I watched this video did I notice the this set reference the lego theme bionicle on some of the wall inscriptions
No adds at RetroBlasting 🙌🏻
Fantastic job!!! I would have loved a Well of souls play set like the one you build but for the Kenner figures !!! Man one can only dream right ?
I would recommend checking out the adventures theme if you liked the Indiana jones set
Yes! Those sets are BEAUTIFUL some of the best stuff lego has ever put out
@@borbafet9206 Especially the 1998 sets and the Orient Expedition line!
You did well!
As always the video production and content is super entertaining. Really enjoyed watching this.
That looks fantastic. Great job and I wholeheartedly agree about Raiders being underserved. Thank you!
Super funny listening to Michael getting LEGO tractor-beamed.
Wow!! That is amazing!
Well done!
You’ve inspired me to do the same so I’ve just ordered my second set!
Did the same a few days ago, totally worth buying 2 sets. It is now a display piece and looks pretty fresh! :)
Cool video Mike the way you put it together came out great
Well done! Well executed
Nicely done!
Lego the toy that just keeps building
As a newcomer to Moccing. You did a great job! Ive been building for years now and love improving sets like this
Fantastic job, nice one mate
this is amazing! I want to do this now! very creative!
Fun fact: lego tomb raider was an actual planned IP lego almost acquired as an idea for a Lego video game after the lego Star Wars games. It was proposed to have tomb raider sets and a video game but as many already know tomb raider was already a video game so why make a Lego game? If anyone’s interested in this look up lego tomb raider animation test and you should fine the prototype footage. (James bond was also supposed to be given a Lego videogame but at the time casino royale came out and it was a little too violent for Lego to cover).
Excellent job!
Thanks for ad free
Trapped in a room, ankle deep in snakes. Sees evidence suggesting there is an adjoining room that is full of snakes up to at least eye level.
LETS GO THAT WAY!
Looks stunning!
Great video, Michael. Brilliant.
I just bought another one. Now you have to do a how to tutorial hahah
Omg I love it. How creative!
Fantastic work sir! 👏
Michael on his way to make nearly the first whole half of the video just the intro, love to see what can be done with the two sets, I do believe I will have to do this when I’m able to find some, love the content and the video, thank you Michael
Normally my intros aren't that long and you know that. There was a lot to discuss here. Give me a break.
@@retroblasting Oh, no, sorry if you misunderstood me, I was just joking about it, I’m glad that this video was made and I’m glad there’s a lot of good to talk about, I was just joking about the length
This does make me interested in getting two of this set. This recreation is very well done with the pieces that come in the set. Thank you for the great content.
This is a great video. A good deep dive.
I’m definitely going to try to do this!
Cool video, design and channel. Subbed!
5:38 I am digging the new logo animation
OUTSTANDING!
Amazing moc!
This looks great. Cool job😃
Thank you for the explanation
Pretty awesome upgrade! Did a lot of Lego as a teen, I may be getting back into some of it! Thanks for that!😂
That’s so cool!
This is truly amazing 😮
Dude this is awesome.
Thanks to you, I will be 80 bucks down this coming weekend. Good stuff.
A Most Impressive build. And as always, First Class editing.
Inspiring, I only want you to make videos you want to make but I did really enhoy this and the other stuff, good job Michael!
Please just get all of the lego indi line. I’d really like to hear you talk about each set and do a retrospective on the line! You have so much insight that would add an extra special element to them. Thank you and keep up the good work!
Unfortunately they are all extremely expensive now.
I loved this! I saved it for when I was back at work so I could have a bit of awesomeness mixed with boringness.
Well done! Lego store here i come.
Really nice job
I thought about doing this and seeing how you did it makes me want to do it now, too tempting
*Recorded during a Lego high* LOL Love it.
Excellent!
Very interesting video great work I still haven’t seen the new sets yet and I was planning to get some sets and do a cross over with the sets I already have.
But seeing your video gives me interesting ideas and I might do like you did.
Thanks Micheal
I was thinking of getting 2 and putting a top on it, but very impressed on how you did it. The rabbit whole is huge and deep on lego.
i love what you did with this set.
No worries Michael, I don’t do dwelling 😊 I just enjoy your videos and I every is reminded of what I have in common with you regarding childhood 😊 ergo for me it’s pure joy and entertainment.
That is a fantastic use of two Lego sets to make a really nice well of souls diorama - I was never into lego growing up but my son got me interested with his enjoyment and collecting - I will get one of these for him, thank you for sharing your video!
OK. Now I'm going to have to buy a second one, thanks to you Michael... :) Really amazing work.
Great video! As a huge Lego nerd myself it is always really interesting to see a bit of a different perspective when it comes to Lego collecting. Personally, to my mind the original set was superior to the modern version, because of how compact it was, so I guess you can say that I liked that version for the reason you didn't. You've said in several of your previous videos that Lego collecting is sort of a lifestyle and honestly I couldn't agree more - I remember having a few action figures and Hot Wheels cars as a kid, but my toy collection was definitely dominated by Lego sets.
Your revamped Well of Souls is a definite improvement over the base set - the addition of an another wall definitely helps the model convey the look of an enclosed space instead of looking like a flimsy facade. Considering the limitations you had to work with the build you've made looks pretty solid.
One interesting thing to say about Lego's relation with Indiana Jones is that it kind of goes back farther than 2008. There was an original Lego theme called Adventurers, which debuted in 1998. The series' characters were clearly inspired by ones from the Indiana Jones films - one of the commercials for the last wave of sets from 2003 had a spoof of the "If adventure has a name, it must be Indiana Jones" tagline.
I managed to get the new set based on the Last Crusade and it's a pretty good one. Unfortunately, the Henry Jones Sr. minifigure is a bit of a downgrade detail-wise when compared to the 2008 version - it is especially visible when you compare the face prints - the old one just screams Sean Connery, while the new one is fine, but a bit more generic. Lego mini figure designs have been getting kind of homogenised over the past decade, I honestly miss the times when they were willing to experiment more with their art style. We can still see them experimenting with it sometimes (the Avatar theme is a good example of that), but it doesn't occur as much as it used to.
Sorry for the long text, I just wanted to share some of my thoughts! Have a good day!
That's a fantastic redesign. Almost gets me to rush out and get some to try myself.
