- We took our AMC Javelin project to the track for the first time in almost 40 years, but we bought the car to do some Drag and Drives so its time to see if we can make this thing live on the street. In this episode we build a custom exhaust for the car using some awesome components from Granatelli Motorsports and put some test miles on it to see if we have any chance at all of turning this dedicated quarter-mile car into a street car! Follow along as we add another chapter to the story of Rob Wess, John Dover and Tony Mancusi...helping them see their dream become a reality.

I just enjoy a visit with you and Mobes in the shop. This AMC is coming along nicely. I especially like that you're expanding this car's performance envelope, so to speak. Looking forward to seeing this car out on the road bringing more smiles. Aloha!
Thank you Jim! It’s a good time in the shop for sure!
I thought my cousin and I were the only ones left that did anything with AMC’s. Thank you for this.
Thanks for watching.

It really does sound glorious! #AllTheFreedom
That's my chop saw! 30 years old, works like new
They’re great saws! Was my grandpas actually.
Coolest street car I have EVER seen...Two thumbs up.
Can't wait to see that driven down the road and people's reactions.
People love the paint scheme for sure!
I love your Javelin and it's so inspiring to follow your efforts to turn a racecar into a street car. I did follow your during Sick week really fun to see how you got there! 😂
Thank you man! It was such a blast doing that event with this thing!
Hey buddy it was awesome to see ya at sick week the car is very cool and was wicked to see Cruising through FL. I’m the guy who came up to ya soon as you pulled in on my mini bike I know you were busy just wanted to say hi.
Oh yeah! It was great meeting you! Thanks for the kind words 🙌🏼
I think that car is awesome . Love to see you and your Dad hanging out and working together. My Dad has passed on but he is the reason I got the car bug .

Cool set up tight there. The Drag & Drive's all sure look like a load of fun & work as well. Hope all goes smoothly when You get to that point. 🤟😎
Tons of work, but such a good time!
Y'all need to make a showing at The Freedom Factory for the 2.4 hours of LeMullets and Cleetus and Cars... Would love to see them ogle an AMC and see what old school is like!! Back in High School a bunch of guys were driving AMC's.. Good times....
That thing is a beast. Good to talk to you and Pops here in Orlando... Now im going to watch this like i dont know What you did to it. LOL
😂
Haha sounds perfect! Thanks for watching and it was great meeting you!
My family was family friends with Donnie Johanson (son of Howard Johanson of Howard's cams) for 25 years before he passed away. My dad retired his Anglia Drag car with a big block Chevy that has Howard aluminum rods in it from racing and made it a street car. My dad was worried about the rods having issues. Donnie assured him that there was nothing to worry about. Those same rods have 15 years of 9 second drag racing on them at 14.5:1 compression and now 30 years of street driving, and the engine was upgraded to a mooneyham supercharger on top of that about 10 years ago. He took the engine apart and put smaller compression pistons for the supercharger, rods measured and looked perfect.
Wow! That's good to hear!
The car is really coming along nicely 👍👍
We’re pretty dang happy with it!
What a badass car. Great work on it. 🇺🇸
Thanks and thanks for watching!

great stuff dude thanks
Keep up the good work
You guys did a great job, that javelin is an absolute beauty. I would love to have a street version with that paint scheme, it just looks so cool to me.
Keep up the great work fellas 👌🤘🇺🇸👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
It is a street version. 😂

Well, you have a valid point there 😁
It sure looks faster than 10 sec LOL. You may have survived Sick Week. Real test probably comes middle of this summer in GA though. Back in my day we said days were hotter'n'Gawjuh asphalt. And that's a real thing! Hooo.
Yeah, I think we’re gonna need a new motor if we wanna try that haha
So exciting
Man, that is a good looking car!!
It’s so dang good!
Jacob your delegate a lot more work now. Not sure why you’re wanting to drive a drag car on the Street. After all the work you did on it to make it a fast car. Wishing you much success. 🎉
💯👍👊
Because the only thing more fun than owning a racecar is driving a racecar on the street haha
@@SallysSpeedShop Glad I made you Chuckle!
Like the AMC great car I want a x
Hello, might you be aware of a Friday, May 31, 2024 Great AMC Day car show and race being held at Edgewater Raceway Park, Cleves, Cincinnati Ohio where there will be ( 14 ) of only ( 53 ) every produced 1969 AMC COPO Hurst Super Stock Drag cars ? More than have ever been together in one place in 55 years ! Hope to see you all there.
Sounds like an awesome event!
Cool 😎. Great job at Sick Week ! Going to sell my two Javelins to make room for a 2019 ZR1 😊
Sorry to hear that. Just sell one. 😊
Thank you man! You gotta keep at least one of them haha
Definitely have the exhaust turn and go out the rocker .
Agreed
That’s the plan in the future. Didn’t have the time to do it that way and get everything else done before sick week
love the post
Cool 10 miles is good back in 1979 I had a 69 Camaro drag car my trailer broke the drag strip was 30 miles away so I drove it at 5:57 gears with a spool and a big block yeah I took the back roads but still is challenging it didn't like it but I didn't care here's a 10-second car those are the good old days No registration or Insurance of course have a great day thanks for the video
Haha I like your style sir!
I like that song at27: drink tea outa jar. U've played it b4. What is it?

Told you those 4 link mounts weren't strong enough. (saw it on 1320) Everyone owes the oval tube to Holman Moody I believe. If I remember right they developed that for their Torino NASCAR car along with the long tube header that all the tubes sat side by side and went into a flat collector. You dropping that collector on your foot.. I had a pressure treated 4X4 land on mine the other day, right on my big toe. Unfortunately steel toe boots start at $179 for size 15 and that's $109 more than I have.
As a guy that went to college for TIG welding let me just say.. NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER try to bridge a gap with a TIG! You want those pieces touching, if you can't do that break out a torch and braze it. (which actually is better for exhaust as it handles heat cycling without cracking FAR better) When you weld metal together with TIG you want there to be no gap at all or at max 1/16th of an inch, gap filling just makes it extremely brittle, especially on stainless that gets brittle at high heat when exposed to the air anyways hence the "sugaring" on the backside of the weld when not back purged. You can also braze using a TIG torch with a bare silica bronze rod too but I haven't done that, I'm not sure how you get it hot enough but not molten with a TIG.
What the hell is with the lifted 4x4 Caddy?
The caddy is a little project we need to do some work on.

Yup, we found that out for sure haha And that’s very cool history, thanks for sharing that! We cover everything about that Caddy some older videos! It’s a dang good time haha

@@OldTimeRevival By work do you mean make is so it's not a poser? It shouldn't be hard to grab a NP205 and extension housing that'll bolt right up to a standard TH350.. the 71 FJ40 in our garage has one in it.
If Lake Speed says so, I would do it.
Couldn’t agree more!
When are you going to post a video on the second gen ram
Should hopefully be in March.

@@OldTimeRevival yes I know who you are think you for telling me
The first filter was a liltle concerning I have to admit
Especially the dog hair. 😂
I have heard for 50 years that you cant rely on aluminum rods on the street because they get heated and cooled so many times that it induces fatigue and eventual failure. Dont know if its true.
Follow along and find out.
I always ♥ those cars but you need to move and add your gages you are too distracted driving! Get one of those digital screen readers sorry for my lack of knowledge, but you know what I'm talking about. Has you Speed, oil, water, all computer control.
I can read the gauges just fine. I am going to put some more gauges on the car though
@@SallysSpeedShop sorry I know a young lady who was killed by a person watching a video on his phone while driving.
I love the AMC they were overlooked for a long time but not anymore they are so cool
They really are gaining a lot more respect in the last few years which is awesome in my opinion!
In the short term sure. But they won't live long term.
Technically they do have a certain amount of times they can be heat cycled and ran in general before they need replaced as a maintenance item, but they’re a lot tougher than people give them credit for.
We ran Ali rods in our pro street car. It ended very badly. If you ever get the time swap them out. 👍
