    I like to soak those areas and lightly dethatch with a rake, and really loosen up the soil to let the water penetrate just a little and it seems to help.

      @@TheDIYLawnCoach yes sir! I do have irrigation and have some dry spots that seem to always give me trouble. I'll be careful and make sure to water the following morning! Thanks for the tip 👍

    Just spray Baby shampoo on the lawn and water it in. It will help the water get to the roots.

      Great suggestion, Ive used dawn in the past. But felt like desperate times called for desperate measures, if ya know what I mean. Baby shampoo does help, but I needed the big guns. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. ❤️❤️

    We've been extremely dry I'm in Surry county in western NC. We had a thunderstorm last night before fireworks which was great to lower fire risk... Any way what part of NC are you in? Press on in the good work sir 👍

    What happens if you just put the hose on those spots and drench it.
    Will that work the same, water going down to the roots?

    • @TheDIYLawnCoach
      @TheDIYLawnCoach  Před měsícem +1

      Seems logical right but no. The ground at those spots would not absorb water. The whole lawn is getting plenty of irrigation. I should not be having to go out and hand water those spots. I went out today and walked the lawn. Those spots are doing 1000x better. Im amazed honestly. Great question and thanks for watching.

      It is heat stress but i have been water the lawn and other parts of the lawn are not struggling like these spots are. Water is not penetrating down to the roots. Thanks for watching.

      For me it always works best after the soil has been damp for a day. I wiggle it front to back with very little hesitation. Maybe the tines are dull, or the soil is rock hard?

    Is air-8 a long term solution?

    • @TheDIYLawnCoach
      @TheDIYLawnCoach  Před měsícem +2

      Yes and No. I don’t believe it can replace manual core aeration, it will help me in my situation where I can’t aerate like i normally would. It gives me options. Stay tuned for my next video and find out results. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

      I like adding all bio stims to the lawn in the summer months to really help the soil retain moisture and aid in overall root health as well as sea kelp to help prevent drought. Molasses is great with the liquid dethatch as well to help feed those microbes during the hot periods. Theres never a precise method, just trial and error because every lawn reacts differently.
