  • Today we being installing the subway tile in the shower!
    We'll use 4"x12" subway tile, for a clean, bright, look along with black trim pieces to match the fixtures and accents found throughout the bathroom.

    Usually I see them starting in the middle wall

      That's an option, I didn't watch the whole video, but maybe working out the layout before would've avoided ended up with those small pieces at the edges.

    Nice video! Did you back butter any tiles besides the one around the shower valve?

      With the subway tiles, I didn’t, but I do like to squueze in some thinset into the gap between the backside of the tile and wall if I can!

    Hey Zack, did you do anything to seal the holes around the mud guard or the holes for the copper tube?

    • @zackcrafted
      @zackcrafted  Před rokem

      Hi David, for the shower valve hole, I didn’t, I leave the mud cover in, you can bury it over with tile but it’s made to be removed if there’s ever an issue with the valve, then the decorative cover has a built in water seal, then the tub and shower pipe I caulked around.

    Hello Zack you did amazing. Are the tiles matte or glossy?

      Hi Olivia!
      Glossy tiles, easier to clean and grout

    Hi Zack - did you use modified or unmodified mortar over the redguard?

    • @zackcrafted
      @zackcrafted  Před rokem

      Hi! Yep, we used a notified thinset. Type of tile may factor into that so just double check!

      Always use modified. Non modified is a thing of the past no need to ever use it

    That small sliver cut in the corners kills me. 4x12's can easily end full, then half.

      Totally see what your saying. Unfortunately it was a retro fit with the tub, so the slivers would either happen in the corner or the outside by the Schluter, is in my opinion looked worse.

    On a 1 to 10 I gave you a 1, got a long way to 10.

    Did your tile have lugs? I noticed you only used spacers horizontally.

    • @zackcrafted
      @zackcrafted  Před rokem +1

      Good eye! I actually ran out of spacers, so I got my 1/8” gap on the vertical, typically using a spacer, then used the spacers for the horizontal.

    I hate to be negative to anyone trying.. but you should not be making videos on how to. There is so much wrong with this install it's crazy....
